Usually it will try to get closer and trying to shoot you until it is too close to miss. When landing a shot or when it gets too close the cycle will restart, with it appearing far away once again. Throwing the tool that can be found in A.M.'s tape can repell it instantly but landing a hit on it can also have the same effect but you would need to hit it three times.
//But it will sometimes help you too. Saving you from the shadows by distracting them, killing ink blots for you, giving them ammo and tools (Which spawns where it was standing after it disappears).
//It can summon ink blots, while they look the same as Agent Rainbow's, they wear fedoras and have the tendency to fight other ink blots that doesn't wear the hat, and the person entering his mind, of course.

After leaving, water fountains and taps can be found in the building and upcoming tapes. The Observer also can leave some samples of Rainbow for you.
