"Come on, man, we're starving!"
Klaus closed the door back. So much for hitching a free ride.
"I'm craving . . eggs?" He wondered, head thrown back to glance at Ben's ghost.
His –very much dead– brother glanced back. Maybe. Klaus couldn't see it, what with Ben's black hoodie drawn so far that only his nose was visible. The ghost had been silent, all the way here. Ignoring Klaus' questioning glance and quirks of eyebrow.
Yeah, Klaus kinda deserved that. Probably. For OD-ing right away not two hours after he stepped out of rehab.
Ben had dissapeared then, most likely pissed. Klaus only saw him again when he sat down on the back of Diego's car.
"Wait, it's too late for eggs," he clicked his tongue.
"Ah," he remembered. "Waffles. You like waffles, right?"
Ben nodded, although he was still silent. Great! Not that pissed, then.
"Of course you do, everyone likes waffle," he said, smirking.
Ben had to be the only sibling that could tolerate his bullshit and still stuck around like this, he thought.
(Him being the only one who can see Ben might also helped)
Diego came back after hearing a shoot-out from the radio, fixing his domino mask in the mirror. It was a ridicilous mask. Not too mention *obvious* as only the Umbrella Academy members had worn them. Why Diego even bothered using them, Klaus couldn't understand.
He continued to ramble about bacons, very much aware of Diego's questioning look from the rear-view mirror.
Eh, whatever. Diego can have the mask and his vigilante work while Klaus have his dead brother with him. It wasn't the weirdest thing in their life, after all.
"Saving lives, baby," Diego said, weirdly smug when Klaus questioned his choice of occupation.
Klaus wanted to snort at that, but he didn't. Instead, he turned to Ben, "It's frozen waffles again, huh?"
Ben only blinked once as an answer and Klaus could see it this time, because Ben had drawn his hoodie back a little.
The engine hummed as Diego started to back up, eyes catching his through the mirror. Klaus didn't respond, only rambled back about pig-based product to Ben.
Klaus looked up to the grim sky from the window, talking all the while. And his head was filled with frozen waffles and eggs on bacon and definitely not Dad.
No, not at all.
