aka: the one where we find out just what, exactly happened between christian and raina. (and why said big brother is such an orchestrator of all the things.)

The main cabin is grimly silent, lacking movement as Raina has gone dangerously still, save for putting away the small gun (gun??) she seems to have grabbed from god only knows where.
Skye isnāt positive, but sheās pretty sure there was an episode of one her favorite TV shows where the characters were on a plane and a gun appeared and⦠it did not end well. It should probably also be noted that the protagonist was a spy.
Oh god does this mean that Raina is a spy?!
āUm.ā Skye edges out of the way, not wanting to get caught in the uncomfortable (and uncomfortably literal) crossfire of the former lovers and their glaringly obvious history.
āYouāll have to excuse her,ā Christian offers a faux apology to Skye as he passes, slowly making his way down the aisle. āShe really doesnāt appreciate being kept out of the loop.ā Keeping his attention on Raina, he adds, āBut then again, you never did.ā
āOh, get over yourself,ā Raina snaps, her backbone seeming to come firing to life all at once. She thumbs the safety back on her gun and sets it down with jerky movements that betray her underlying irritation at being caught so thoroughly off guard.
Christian takes her sudden burst of anger in stride, looking more than a little pleased to have gotten a reaction out of her. His expression then shifts into one that can only be described as devious. (Skye would know, as sheās seen a version of it on both Grant and Thomas, usually just before they do something outrageous.)
āYou were more than happy to get under me,ā he muses, tapping his lip in contemplation. āTo be fair, it wasnāt always your favorite, but āā
Raina retaliates swiftly in a move almost too quick for Skye to process.
Thereās a whirlwind of limbs and the next thing she knows, Christian is laughing while Raina has a knee pressed into his spine from where he is sprawled beneath her on the ground. Considering the current position, he seems remarkably unfazed.
(It is around this time that Skye privately wonders if maybe there isnāt something crucial missing from the DNA of all the Ward men.)
She also reevaluates her earlier thought process, because Raina is definitely a spy.
