theoretically, since i am not american, i couldn't care less- but in reality, i am NOT happy tiktok is getting banned in the US.

it's not only rooted in xenophobia and fearmongering, it's also a danger to free speech and could have major negative effects worldwide. despite its incessant need to spread misinformation, it does also aid in the documentation of the current genocides (in palestine, ukraine, azerbaijan, china, etc), can be and is used to share helpful resources, and speak out against inequality.

the real solution would be different content moderation that doesn't favour the american mindset, better education to prevent misinformation to be spread at all, and for stricter advertiser rules to be applied.
