Ok, I've seen this sentiment before, but the amount of Kindle Unlimited ads I've been seeing is forcing me to repeat it-
Kindle Unlimited is offering two free months of unlimited ebooks. As a trial. Which will then become a paid subscription.
Your local library is offering unlimited ebooks all the time. Forever. No contracts, no predatory practices, no tracking of how long you spend on each particular page in the hopes that information about your habits can be sold for a profit.
Use your library. They want so badly to give you all of the things for free.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Librarian: “Oh, you have a fine of $20”
(Several years ago me struggling not to have a mental breakdown at this news because I did not have $20 for food, much less for a library fine, and I had a hunch the books I held in my hand would help me figure out how to fix my failing business.)
Me: “I’m-- I don’t have it, I’m so sorry, I’ll put these back--”
(click click click keyboard click click click)
Librarian: “No worries, I’ve removed the fine. You can check those books out now.”
Me, sotto voce: “I will remember this to my dying day. I will spend the rest of my life advocating libraries.”
This was many, many years ago.
I fixed my business, I got my life in order (financially speaking anyway, laugh, I’m still a rambling fool what with the gay monsters and queer ghosts and weird job and what-not)
Beyond books, your local library (probably) has a lot of programs on financial literacy, filing taxes, reading programs if you have kids, sometimes they have “makers labs” with 3-D printers, etc.
CDs. DVDs. Audiobooks. Language labs.
So many things.
They were and are paid for by taxes. So it they are free in the sense that they aren’t charging you, and more to the point, you’ve already invested in them with your tax cash stash. Go use it. Go reap the rewards.
absolutely brilliant
ra ra rasputin is objectively the funniest song ever written it's like "rasputin was an advisor to the romanovs and honestly he was a bit of a power-hungry conman (oof)... but you're not here for a history lesson! you want to know how much he fucked, don't you? well i'll tell you: he fucked. he fucked often and severely."
and it's a banger

“Hi,” i say. He smiles. “Hi.” And then i kiss him for real, and he kisses me back, and his hands fist my hair. And we’re kissing like it’s breathing. My stomach flutters wildly. And somehow we end up horizontal, his hands curved up around my back. “I like this,” i say, and my voice comes out breathless. “We should do this. Every day.” “Okay.” “Let’s never do anything else. No school. No meals. No homework.” “I was going to ask you to see a movie,” he says, smiling. When he smiles, i smile.

Good morning. To all the motherfuckers who get uncomfortable and say dumb shit when I post anything gay or queer…
