"— Hey! That’s not fair at all! I was still building up my skills. No need going in blind to fight a monster. You never know when they may just decided they’re sick and tired of the shoe diet." That all too familiar challenging tone sparking the irrevocable smile crossing up along his face. It was practically irresistible. "— The gross boy was easy as pie and well, the bed monster obviously only eats dust bunnies… Why else would he live under a bed! But — the closet monster. That guy is a real trickster. You can’t count your chickens before they hatch with that fellow because hell, he’s already eaten all your chickens."
In all honest confessions, Bucky wasn’t necessarily easy to deal with… He could be rash, a little bit of a trouble maker — hell, Steve was one of the few people that even dared dealing with his antics. But, Rebecca — she was so young — she still had the ability to see past those things… The things that made him, well, less than desirable. Something in her still believed he could bathe in gold; that he was that fairytale knight in shining armor — alright, maybe more like a vigilante free-lancer, but hey — that meant the world. Sure, maybe things weren’t exactly promising right now; refusing to go his way despite the strife… But, Rebecca still believed in him, And that — hell, that was enough for him. “Of course I’m the grand monster slayer of the land…” He couldn’t help the mock gloating and the play at a self-bloated salute. “You better bet your toes the Queen hand-picked me, right out of the line up; said I was the perfect soldier and hell, I am!” However, he couldn’t let her slip away from facing the “monster” that easily. “However — she forgot something after my knighting—” A hand gently clasping her shoulder and shaking it pridefully, “—- My trusty side-kick! Rebecca of the land of Brooklyn and only left shoes!”
"Well, while you were building your skills. My poor shoes are getting eaten or held hostage" she juts out her bottom lip in a pout. small fragile arms crossing over another as she looks to him with raised eyebrows as he continues to speak. When he starts talking about the gross boy though, and the monster under the bed though she catches onto his smile and her lips crack into their own smile. "I bet you're smarter than the trickster, you;re the smartest person I know next to daddy" she nods in all seriousness and with wide eyes that show nothing but her telling the truth.
James has always been her best friend, from the day she was born she's sure of it. There isn't a single person in the world that she wants to be more like. Even their father. Not that she would ever admit to it. She see's James more than their dad, with the amount of work he does, and when he leaves, she's always with James. The young girl is positive that Jame's is going to be her best friend for the rest of her life, at least that's what she hopes. While listening to him she kicks off her right shoe with the toes on her left foot, because she finds no point in wearing it if the other is lost. Rebecca doesn't let it out of her sight though. When he grasps her should her head shoots up and her eyes are wide, this time though she's nervous. "I can't be your side kick! You're the best monster fighter in all the lands! All I can do is loose my shoes and hide from the monsters. I'm not brave enough to be your sidekick" she glances back down at the floor.
