Whatever happens to steve in S4, whether he dies or gets punched again or whatever, Im not looking forward to it if the writers are just gonna use him solely for comic relief again. I loved him in S3, but i dont want his character to be reduced to just a babysitter for the kids (especially when hes only close to 1/6th of them) or the himbo wingman for the snarky lesbian. I want him to have some emotional/vulnerable moments, or be more involved in solving problems related to the UD or Russians.

YES. All of this. If they use him as a emotional and physical punching bag or laughing stock again I’m gonna get UPSET. Steve obviously has so much potential - we saw it in season two! Season three Steve is so dorky - and I get that he was knocked off of his high horse, but it’s like, bizarre how they used him solely as a goofball? He is a goofball but season two showed us that he has emotional maturity and can stick up for himself and others. I want to see quiet moments, scared moments, contemplative moments. I want to see how he and the others deal with the aftermath of everything. I just really hope they don’t keep using him as comic relief when he has the qualities to be so much more.
