Story of my life!
Anamnesis
Memories are the key not to the past, but to the future! - Cornelia Ten Boom
Introspecting my actions and connecting the dots between my present and my past has been one of my favorite activities during this trip in America. It definitely gave me some clarity into my current pursuits for body flight and the physics around it.
I was raised in Kuwait along with my brother for the first 7 years of my life, and compared to the other nations I’ve survived in, it’s a really tiny country. Our daily routine consisted of waking up around 5:30-6:00am, heading to a religious school for few hours, then to curriculum based school, and finally back home by evening. Our evenings either consisted of playing in the building compound or watching television for few hours. Most of these cartoons were from the West, with an exception of few from Japan. So here I go with some of these cartoons that really influenced my trippy mind.
GRENDIZER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW8JKCouIA4
Who doesn’t love objects that transform, especially a robot that effectively houses inside a spacecraft and that’s controlled by a super cool protagonist. The cartoon had interesting battle sequences and the Japanese style animation was definitely worth the watch.
THE CENTURIONS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQT00ZSVzcg
This cartoon was famous for the tag line of ‘Power Extreme’. An American series but animated in Japan, the characters would get teleported and then transform into bionic men who could battle on land, water and space. My favorite character then was definitely Ace McCloud with his super cool wings and jets, soaring through the skies!
SILVERHAWKS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzAQu23t19A
But I guess this was the cartoon series that had the biggest impact on my future dreams as a kid. SilverHawks was created by the same studio that made ThunderCats (another of my favorite shows). The human-like characters in the show have metallic bodies with wings which give them the ability to fly. I had totally forgotten about this cartoon until I started wing suit flying and was reminded about it by my coach Chris Geiler.
So till the time I grow my own wings or become bionic, I will fly wingsuits and try to resemble a silverhawk as much as possible!

‘Fear is the thief of dreams’…Tattooed on a friend’s arm
My parents always wondered what switch I had flicked in my head that suddenly I became so extreme with whatever activities I chose. Even I didn’t know that, but looking back at their personalities, my mom was always a social person and still uses her skills to connect her community. My dad was a sailor most of his life, an avid learner, extremely passionate about traveling and interacting with people. My life is an amalgamation of their stories I heard growing up. They were always a part of me; they’ve helped transform me. Throughout my journey I’ve met some amazing people who’ve motivated me at each and every step. People who never let my dreams fade away; who’ve always fueled my desires; that guided me to where I am today.
My last taste of the azure was sometime back in January 2012 at Skydive Dubai to be precise. The next four years I got engulfed in establishing my startup, gathering new skill-sets and exploring other adventure sports. All those years, right up to this moment, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes was always on my mind, but circumstances keep altering my plans. But today after completing 250 jumps including 40 Wingsuit flights, getting my USPA Coach Rating & being part of the 1st FAI World Wingsuit Championship as a spectator, supporting my team, my coach, my friends…I feel liberated. The joy I’ve experienced is unparalleled.
I planned this trip to USA hoping that I get to represent India at the 1st FAI World Wingsuit Championship 2016, but after training in Wingsuit flying I realized there’s still a long way ahead of me for me to compete. I could’ve participated and had the amazing experience of representing my country behind me, but I thought of holding back until next year. I hope to continue this journey into 2017 as a Performance Wingsuit Athlete.
It wasn’t easy reaching this stage; a lot of sacrifices in terms of professional & personal relationships had been made. I made decisions that I couldn’t explain to my parents, my cousins or my friends. From an outsider’s view extreme sports always seem selfish, a death wish to some, but I feel everyone has a right to choose their own path, carve their own line or write their own story. I’ve never been a fan of trying out things just for the heck of it or as a fancy bucket list. For me the joy has always been in the journey, in the learning, being mentored and in the process discovering newer experiences by oneself.
I can tell you for a fact that flying Wingsuits has completely transformed and evolved my thought process. The art of flying a body that is not meant to be in the sky is simply amazing. If you think skydiving slows down time, wait till you start Wingsuit flying. You figure out how aero-dynamics are affected with even the slightest movement of your body parts. As I type, I’m headed back to ParachuteCenter, Lodi, California to further pursue my dreams. I haven’t had a chance to sit and edit my videos, hence the pictures, but stay put and you won’t be disappointed.

An amazing month filled with adventure! With 100+ jumps in just 3 weeks, I’ve transformed from a belly flier to a wing-suit flyer! Thanks to an amazing dropzone ‘ParachuteCenter’, awesome owners, awesome mentors and super awesome friends, a dream was fulfilled! The pirate is headed to explore new waters, but will return to his cove in November! Argh!
POWER OF PLAY + LEARNING
For some it’s the earth, for others it’s the oceans. For me, I consider the sky my playground!! Coached ‘Tracking’ jump with Chris Geiler ‘CRUZA’

You plan on doing something, but life wants you to move in another direction. There are negatives and there are positives. When one door shuts you kick open the other door! I was barred from doing tracking jumps anymore at the current drop zone because I landed almost on the edge of the DZ. Yes, the punishment is a bit harsh, but it didn’t stop me from pursuing to learn what I’m here for. Tracking is the foundation for wingsuit flying and is extremely essential for me at this stage. But thanks to people like Chris Geiler ‘CRUZA’ who go out of their way to help someone accomplish their goals! I will be shifting my base to Skydance Skydiving for a few days to continue my journey. That’s Chris in the pic doing best at what he does!
