What if I told u I was lost without u but we hadn't even met

What if we met and had a simple greeting that was jus a hello and how u doing

What if our simple greeting developed into this extravagant conversation

What if that extravagant conversation envelope into a spiritual connection

What if our spiritual connection was nurtured into dis sincere heart felt affection

What if dat heart felt affection evolved into us creating a physical and spiritual

union

What if in dat union of physical and spiritual for only jus a moment our

heartbeats become one, our minds intertwined, ur thoughts became mine, my

thoughts became urs and time jus paused

What if words could no longer explain….dis event that is so much like a summer's rain

What if in dis MENTAL BLISS that for a moment we forgot it was jus a KISS

and we were standing at ur door... would u let me in or would u leave me wanting more?

How would the next night end... wit a beautiful sunrise together or a sunset alone

these r the questions that run through my mind as I sit here writing this poem

Whether you're on the freeway, service rd, or regular street... drive like you're tryna get somewhere, cos we've all got isht to do and places to be 🙄

I used to think I cud save every one in my circle, until I realized some of em were slowly depleting and killing me ☹️

The Incident (1967), directed by Larry Pierce and based on Nicholas E. Baehr's 1963 television play Ride with Terror, follows a cross-section of New Yorkers whose ordinary subway ride is disrupted by two violent young men. Before the passengers' stories converge, the film introduces each character and the social tensions they carry with them.

This exchange between Arnold Robinson (Brock Peters) and Joan Robinson (Ruby Dee) captures a debate unfolding within the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s. Following the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, many viewed those victories as essential first steps, while others questioned whether legal reforms alone could deliver meaningful equality.

Arnold argues that patience has failed and that lasting change requires confrontation. Joan believes progress is real, but insists that change takes time. The film does not resolve their disagreement. It presents two competing responses to injustice during a pivotal moment in American history.

More than half a century later, the argument between Arnold and Joan still feels remarkably current. Perhaps that says as much about the present as it does about the past.
