Hux is an expert liar. He is, for that matter, an expert concealer of pretty much anything he thinks or feels. From a young age, he was forced to learn to maintain a mask-like, blank expression -- after all, no good soldier would let messy emotions slip through. Of course, that wasn’t all that was asked of him -- good soldiers, in Brendol Hux’s opinion, shouldn’t feel at all, beyond simply hiding their emotions -- but he learned to hide before he learned to repress. Because of this, he has managed to keep several delicate parts of himself tucked carefully away, kept under lock and key and laser barrier and a large moat full of several space crocodiles. Not even Hux himself is allowed to go there. 

Compared to that, of course, lying about facts or figures or non-emotional matters is hardly a challenge at all. Hux can bluff his way through most anything -- although he would always prefer to use either the truth or a version of the truth. It holds up better, and people are less likely to detect it as a lie.
