The bar is officially so low for the President of the United States that we’re hearing loyalists defend his potential criminality as an asset to the country.

Trump’s attack on Syria was unserious but intended to relieve emotional pressure—and in many ways, worse than doing nothing at all.
What was the point of the airstrikes on Syria?
Was it to exact some sort of concession from Assad? Was it to prove a point to the rest of the world about what the US does not tolerate? Was it to demonstrate the power of the US military?
No, it really wasn’t any of those. The airstrikes were to make us feel good. The Trump administration can say that it cares about the children gassed by Assad, while those tortured, mutilated, sexually assaulted, or killed by barrel bombs are largely forgotten. They can point at the attacks and say that they did something when their red line was crossed, unlike a certain someone.
While the Pentagon is saying that “we believe that by hitting Barzeh in particular we’ve attacked the heart of the Syrian chemicals weapon program,” those words ring hollow. Like Cohen says, “we believe”, “we’ve attacked”, and the heart of the Syrian chemicals weapon program,” are all vague phrases meant to leave the impression of action. But Assad, with the help of the Russians will likely rebuild and continue using chemical weapons.
In fact, the airstrikes likely did more damage to the US than they did to Assad. We’ve illustrated that Assad can get away with using chemical weapons, that there isn’t a danger to his regime if he does it. We’ve also illustrated that we don’t have a plan, that we’re more committed to bluster than action that achieves results.
Nobody has put forward a worthwhile plan for Syria, not Obama, not Trump, and the more that Trump pretends he has a plan, the more the rest of the world laughs at him.
The raid on the offices of President Trump’s personal lawyer makes clear that Trump’s battle with the special counsel, Robert Mueller, is entering its final chapter.
People never really know when they’re in the middle of a crisis.
As Adam says in his article, the Iraq War was a catastrophe from the beginning, the complete anarchic annihilation of a government and a country. But public perception was slow to catch on. It took years for people to realize the extent of the carnage. The same is true of the financial crisis. It was apparent for over a year that the financial meltdown was coming, but we didn’t know or care until it was too late.
The Trump presidency is another one of these crises. Collusion is one thing. Who knows if Trump was a part of it, and even if he was, it’s an issue that will work itself out through Congress’s decision to impeach him or not. But Trump’s business is something else. Anybody who has done even cursory research into Trump’s business dealings can see that the likeliness of rampant criminality is very, very high.
Adam notes in a Twitter thread that, as we learn more about Trump’s business partners, we’ll become more acquainted with phrases like terror financing, WMD proliferation, sex trafficking, money laundering, sanctions violations, and murder. We’ll see the extent to which Ivanka, Jared, and Don Jr are in extreme legal jeopardy. Trump’s business has always made money through working with serious criminals, whether they’re mobsters, foreign money launderers, or dirty oligarchs. The extent to which his policy is motivated by these criminals and his past behavior is unknown right now, but will eventually come out, plunging us into crisis.
Investigators have loads of private documents from the man at the core of Trump’s business. They know things that we probably can’t even fathom. We’ll learn this information eventually, whether it’s in a month, three months, three years, or five years. And maybe it’ll shock us then, or maybe it’ll shock us when we finally see the totality of the madness.
But we’ll likely look back at the Trump presidency, mouths agape, like we do now at the Iraq War. How could we have possibly let such an insane thing happen? It’s a question that we’ll be asking ourselves for a long, long time.

The “Detention and Removal of Alien Parents or Legal Guardians” directive replaces the agency’s previous policy, “Facilitating Parental Interests in the Course of Civil Immigration Enforcement Activities.” That policy—also known as the Parental Interests Directive—had been in effect since August 2013. While the 2013 policy was by no means perfect, the explicit emphasis and overall intent was critical: minimize the unintended consequences of immigration enforcement on parental rights and child well-being.
U.S. President Richard Nixon promised reparations that have never come. Email your Representative, Senators, and President.
From the early 1960s until 1973, the United States waged a war on Vietnam that left approximately 3.8 million people dead, 5.3 million civilians wounded, 11 million civilians made refugees (most by design), and 4.8 million civilians sprayed with toxic defoliants like Agent Orange – which still causes birth defects and deaths today in a land whose natural environment has not recovered.U.S. President Richard Nixon promised reparations that have never come.
Email your Representative, Senators, and President and urge them to support U.S. government reparations to Vietnam now.
In 1977 the U.S. public learned of a 1973 promise made by then-President Nixon to North Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Van Dong of a “range of $2.25 billion” of reconstruction aid and $1 billion to $1.5 billion of food and commodity aid. A total of $3.5 billion in 1973, adjusted for inflation, is $19.4 billion in 2017. The U.S. has never made reparations on anything like this scale to Vietnam. The time has come, not to make things right, but to do what is possible toward that end.
school districts and administrators are working hard to scare students out of protesting in the wake of the Parkland shooting.
don’t fall for their bullshit. you have the right to speak up and make yourself heard. a local superintendent doesn’t overrule the first amendment, much as they might like to.
and here’s an open invitation: I’m a teacher, recent PhD, one-time educational administrator (although not in a public school), and hopefully soon to be a college professor. if you need advice on navigating the crap your school is giving you or minimizing the impact they can have on your chances of getting into the college of your dreams, message me. I’ll help you find legal resources, write admissions essays, find ways to argue for your right to protest to your school board - whatever I can do.
please signal boost this, and if you’re someone who can help (civil rights lawyer? college admissions counsellor? experienced activist leader?), join in and let young activists know what you can do to help.
Hi there is no such thing as a “permanent record” outside of the legal system. Your school records don’t go to the FBI or the cops.
Also if you get suspended or punished for protesting, call the ACLU. There’s case law protecting the first amendment rights of students. They can help.
Get up and walk out. Once you get a bit older, you'll be pissed off that in hindsight I can plainly see that your HS bullied you.
CONSPIRACY #45
Neil A. is alien spelled backwards…Moon landing was fake AND Neil Armstrong wasn’t an actual human.
Oh WOW. There's a nasty belt of space radiation between us & the moon. We have yet to figure out to survive traveling thru it. Plain proof we've never been there.
Trump sinks to the center of Earth’s molten iron core. No, he thinks to himself. I can go lower.
I MUST
I saw something about there being no chance #trump is not a #pussy. Cuz he's never nice and warm... Or something like that.

john mccains surgery would have cost over $76,000 but we socialized government medicine so he didn’t spend anything while we try to get rid of your healthcare bc it’s ours and only the wealthy and powerful deserve to live
This is satire folks.
what the hell is going on in this country?!
Well damn
Shit has been bad for a while
Right so this lady was smart, if you’re ever in a sedan-style trunk there’s a little pull tab that you can use to get yourself out that is STANDARD in cars built after 2001. It’s the law just like headlights and seatbelts.
if you are in an SUV style vehicle or newer model car you may be able to find the automatic trunk release wire, pull on it, it will pop the trunk
if you can’t find any of that stuff, look for the brake light housing. You will need to pull back the trunk carpeting and feel about. It’s probably bolted in, but some careful wiggling will dislodge it. If people see a goddamn arm waving out of a hole in a car while they poke along I-95 they likely will do something about it

Amazing.
I love this.
When you make policies that restrict access to the pain medications that help us, you increase the likelihood we will seek other sources. Do you not then become party to the crime of murder when we partake pills laced w fentenol? Yeah, just like PRINCE did. These policies will result in the rise of #heroin deaths.
A Well Lived Life
“I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible; to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise.” Dawna Markova
My soul says this will be the next chapter of my live. I chose not to go kicking and screaming, but instead with a childlike sense of wonder.
