Some more things:
As I said, I haven’t actually had the opportunity to print these books myself so, I’m not sure if there are going to be problems that pop up during the printing process. I followed print guides online as properly as I could but there might be some unforeseen complications that I was not aware of.

Thank you to @auphaniim who sent me the svg file they used for the GHD cover they made here. If anyone wants to use it for their cricuts and such they can find it on the itch.io page as well.
Oh my gooosh this looks amazing! That is so ridiculously sleek and polished. The leather cover! The map insides! The silly Skyrim fic I wrote in black and white, and temple's art!!
I can't thank you and @thetempleofmara enough for the ridiculous amount of work you've put into all of this. I am blown away. Never ever in a million years did I think the fic I started because I was feeling sad in quarantimes would get to this point, or be this beloved.
I'll aspire to this level of awesome when I try to make my own binding T_T Though I'm a long way off this level of talent.
I'm a designer and I'm professionally redesigning and hopefully binding @thetempleofmara's design of GOL HAH DOV into a second edition! have a sneak peek into the process :DD
if I don't completely eff up the bound copies then in maybe a month I may give one set of the books to somebody who's interested!
top images: test prints for margins and font size (insert the pages inside a real book to test inner margins!)
bottom image: laser-cut book board (I tried with an x-acto first but it was much less clean)
this edition builds on mara's lovely original design and adds a lot of new features like a table of contents, glossary in the back, colophon, raised caps, an "other works by this author" section, and more!
I also typeset the entire manuscript, removing "orphans and widows" (dangling words at the beginning and end of paragraphs/pages). this makes the text much more smooth to read. it's the longest part of the project by far—I had to actively stop myself from trying to read the text; I’ve been saving my first reread for when I have the book in my hands…

Series: Part 2 of Little Flame
Summary:
He turns back around and scowls at the water, or more accurately at himself. The grime he can feel is transient, as is this body. He shouldn’t be here bathing at all, when he could be doing more useful things with his time. The whole thing is an exercise in indulgence, and he should know better.
But still the cool water, the breeze between his horns, the scent of flowers and grasses… and someone who maybe, maybe does not find his crooked shape so repulsive. Maybe. Maybe.
There is the slosh of someone kneeling down. “If this is a no silence instead of a yes silence you need only say. Or gesture,” Tarnished intones from behind him, gently.
Margit says nothing. He is weak. But it has been a tough day and a long exposure to poison, and later he will blame that for this foolishness.
The Tarnished has achieved too much, and Margit has let him get too close.

I’m feeling enthused, so I wrote another one!
I sort of want to get to the smut already, but Morgott is about as slow-burn as characters get, so it’s a while off yet. In the meantime he gets a bath, because let’s be honest he needs one.

Summary:
A fetish bathed in golden magic. Shackles were used to bind the accursed people called the Omen, and these ones were made to keep a particular Omen under strictest confinement.
Though faint, the shackles still retain vestiges of power — enough to trap the once-bound Margit on earth, if only for a short time.
It all starts when Margit finds the shackle.
Hi hello, I have been playing Elden Ring and I wrote a thing. I wasn’t sure if any of my usual followers would be interested, but I figured I’d post it here just in case any of you play ER!
Context: During the Showdown in Apocrypha between Chrysanthe and Miraak, Miraak gains the upper hand before Chry could fully use Bend Will to save Miraak who heavily wounds him, leaving Chry unable to Shout successfully. Feeling betrayed by Chrysanthe after his first use of Bend Will, Miraak electrocutes Chrysanthe to death(before taking his Soul obviously).
However, due to Chrysanthe being the main protagonist (player character) of Skyrim, Chrysanthe's “save file” corrupts after his death and resets him back to the start of the vanilla game (no mods). My idea is that Chrysanthe still has his memories and that's why he looks so shocked, but that is up to your interpretation.
Bonus:
As always, GOL HAH DOV by @99corentine !
(P.S. I'm aware Chrysanthe has a custom modded intro (A Warlock's Thrall). This comic is made purely bc I wanted to see Chry in a vanilla Skyrim experience lol)
A further expansion on this excellent idea: Miraak also remembers everything after the reset because Dragonborn, eternal souls of the Dragon of Time and therefore sort of existing outside it, etc etc, or just because two Dragonborn meeting makes time go Extra Fucky. The next time Chrysanthe marches into Apocrypha to meet him, they both remember each other, and Chry has to find a way to earn Miraak's trust and break the sequence of events, while Miraak is trying to do his Big Bad thing and manipulate the timeline to free himself.
(As an aside Linda, excellent work. The black panels are especially haunting.)
Wow, this looks great! The yellow tone fo the paper really adds something, I think most especially to panel 3 - makes Chry look like he's made of sunlight which is... honestly not far off how Miraak sees him at this point in the story, I think. The dark shadows behind Miraak are also reminiscent of tentacles - maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I like the implication that Hermaeus Mora's doubt-whispering had a hand in Miraak's decision near the end of GHD, as though he's still influencing his former champion no matter how much Miraak thinks he's not anymore.
"There’s a smile in her tone: You did. In keeping with my greatest tenet, you did. But I have been with you since the start and I will be with you until the end. This is not the end. Then there comes a sigh, wistful and wisp-like: We’re not supposed to intervene. If you’re to die on this island, I should let you die. But if Mora can break boundaries to harm you, I can break them to help you."
Part two! Again, I think this does a great job at portraying the tide turning from hopeless to determined, and marking the point that Chrysanthe was pretty much cemented as Mara's paladin. Power of love, heck yeah!
I'm late commenting, but this is fantastic. This part of GHD was among the most emotive for me to write, and I've never known how to convey it into a visual image, but you've done beautifully. The first panel is really jaw-dropping, great use of negative space and I love the way Miraak's hand can be seen desperately reaching out. And then Mara's hand! Ahh, it's so lovely.

Once again, I can't stress enough how astonished and grateful I am for all the hard work you've put into this, not only turning this into printable format with lovingly crafted illustrations, but also compiling the zine of fanart so far. Seeing all the love I've gotten for this story over the years made me tear up, I'm not kidding.
I've added links to your post (which will then lead to the download) on GHD's summary, chapter 1 and chapter 50. I hope that lets even more people find this piece of work! @thetempleofmara you are phenomenal. Thank you so much <3

hiii i just saw the book project you did for gol hah dov, i was wondering if you were going to make it available to print to others? all of it is absolutely incredible, the art, the graphics (and the story itself ofc, author never misses haha) and i was was considering making a copy for myself, ihand bind stuff myself and id loveee to make myself a copy with your graphics and art if you’re okay with that :)
Hello!
Yes I will upload it for others as well! I meant to do it like two days after I made that post, but then I immediately got distracted.
It will be available by this weekend at the latest.
(You also have to show me the final book binding.)
(Disclaimer: I also haven't had it printed myself so idk if there are any problems.)
Compiled all of the fanart people made into a "little" artzine.
The cover of this one was also inspired by in-game books.
I had fun making this and got to experience more abstract pattern making for the borders and such, I'm actually very proud of how the covers turned out.
Once again thank you for writing and sharing gol hah dov!
I am off to my own little corner of the internet where I obsess over a man with amnesia and his evil lover...who wears a difficult to draw...pointy...black outfit.....
And then, the bonus third thing. DO you know what temple said when they messaged me about this? Like I said it's nothing major but there you go.
Mothertrucker it's EXTREMELY major! The majorest! The most mayoral! A lovingly compiled mini-book of every fanart I've ever gotten over the years, a celebration of celebrations! Seeing all of this stuff in one place made me feel things I can't even describe to you.
Also when it's all laid out on paper, some of you have been PROLIFIC, holy crap. I'm completely boggled by how much @thetempleofmara, @b-lizi, @metallic-scaled-scarf and especially @linda-likes-to-draw (oh my gosh linda) have given me. But that's not to dismiss the rest of you, because seeing everything laid out like this has really brought home just how much I've been given over the years, and by how many people. And then there's all those who have read GHD and taken the time to comment and spur me on to write the next part. I would never have finished this without you.
There is truly nothing I could say that would explain how blown away I am, by each and every one of you.
"some of you have been PROLIFIC"
THAT'S WHAT I SAID.
Linda nearly killed me with all the art and I couldn't even include the animations!
Putting all this together was very fun for me and a good challenge. I enjoyed creating the book and zine so much that I will probably continue to do so with my future projects. Thank you for letting me make art from your art and thank you for all the nice words. (ಥ◡ಥ)
Book 2 is supposed to match book 1 but this time Miraak themed!
Key Illustrations for book 2:
Chry has a meltdown over the ear stain :( A very real moment after a traumatic event.
STAY DOWN ( My favourite by far, and I think the only way to really capture the power of what you wrote there is to have it animated or something, but hey I tried)
Odahviing shit talking Miraak is the best thing ever, my only complaint about this story is that it needs more Odahviing. (I will never get over odahviing essentially telling chry he has shit taste in men)
Miraak yoinking Alduin's soul. ( The description was so great but once again I try the best with the art skills that I have)
The end ಥ_ಥ
Once again some thumbnails that only I can decipher:
Miraak themed book decal thumbnails:
I played around with Mora and Akatosh themed decals but decided to go with the one that compliments the book 1 decal in design. Using the in game book and mission marker designs once again
Final:
With this one I used the clip studio time-lapse feature when drawing, behold hours of work in 30 seconds!
AND NOW TO KEEP GOING because this second part deserves as much praise as the first! Look. Just look at it. Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?
Do you ever think about that fact that a bunch of humans made a video game about magical vikings who fight dragons. And I, some random human from a rainy island in the middle of the ocean, played that video game over and over, and loved it so much that I wrote a few novel's worth of story about it, specifically about a fictional man who romances another fictional man, who btw has like 8 lines of dialogue in the game. And then another human, from a completely different part of the world read it, and enjoyed it so much that they crafted a print format version, and lovingly illustrated key moments.
It says something about the human condition, how it appreciates and celebrates things. I don't exactly what it says, but it's something.
The fact I could get these printed and have them on my shelf (and absolutely will, when I have the disposable income to do so) is just mind-boggling to me. The work you've put into this, the thought, the love, is beyond awesome, beyond anything I can convey with words alone. But I hope you all enjoy looking at this creation as much as I have.
I actually think about this frequently! I think about it when I read old books and fanfiction, or when I look at art and play games. I'm not poetic enough to describe whatever that feeling is but I'm pretty sure it's as close as you get to magic.
I have an enthusiasm for hardbound books and decided I want to turn Gol Hah Dov into a physical book.
I wanted to share with you the final project as well as my design inspiration and thoughts:
Cover design I wanted a hardbound book, with cloth and foil inlay like the mockup I made below. I modeled book 1 after Chrysanthe and drew a chrysanthemum for the cover as well as a blue and gold colour scheme.
The inspiration for the border comes from the skyrim artbook as well as the in-game "book of the dragonborn" The dovahzul in the frame is Miraak's quote from the dlc "The first Dragonborn meets the Last Dragonborn at the summit of Apocrypha" (or at least the first few words because I ran out of space, but it's the thought that counts.)
I chose some of my favourite parts of the story to use for key illustrations.
They are:
Chry meets Miraak in Apocrypha for the first time and a mute Miraak slams the wall while Chry is looking for him in the dark (I need more romance to be introduced as horror, thank you)
Chry meets Partysnax, I think you wrote him very true to character (and maybe I just wanted to draw the old boy)
Chry sets Miraak free by using the gol hah dov shout on him and beats Mora's ass with the rueful axe, I loved how all the little plot points came together for this one. ( the shout breaking mind control, the axe cutting a daedric prince, the hints of Mara assisting Chry, you are a genius)
Storm call dragon fight! I always thought storm call is such an OP ability if it would exist irl and is one of the shouts that really shows the power of a dragonborn. And you made them do it twice, such a great moment.
Chry communicating with Mora underwater. One of the best moments, and also my favourite drawing.
Also just for fun here are the horrible thumbnails of the art:
Each chapter also has a Chry-inspired decal. I used chrysanthemums for him as well as using the design for Mara from the game, and the main mission quest marker from the journal:
The thumbnails:
The final ones used:
Each chapter has the number in english and the name of the chapter in dovazhul just for fun.
The sketches through the book I initially wanted to make in the style of skyrim concept art, like so:
But the style of the concept art and the style of the book was a bit too different and I felt it didn't look good with the use of red colours so I ended up with a more loose b+w style like the Teldryn one.
For the chapters where you had translations at the end I wanted to make a little dictionary design:
I based this design off the in-game miscellaneous quest markers.
I have been gifted many beautiful things from @thetempleofmara and other, equally wonderful people. But this. This is a whole ass book. It's two books! Temple literally sat down with book-compiling software and turned my dumb (if gloriously so) Skyrim fanfiction, about a fictional man from a 2011 game DLC, into two books. They've got mock covers, they've got fancy chapter headers, they're got full page illustrations.
And those illustrations were just chucked in for free! Part of a larger whole, as though each of them wasn't individually its own masterpiece. I can't even pick a favourite, they're all that good!
You also picked several of my favourite moments from the story - I still go back and read chapter 4 for the first touch between them sometimes. I need more romance to be introduced as horror, thank you - yes, now if I don't write a horror romance I feel like I'm missing something T^T
