Levi felt himself feeling sorry for the woman next to him. He knew what it was like to be abandoned by someone who was supposed to. He was abandoned by his father and he never let anyone get close to him ever again because of it. “I’m sorry,” he told her and for the first time in a long time, he was as genuine as the shapeshifter could get. “I know I can’t help you but I am very, truly sorry.”

“I should be used to it by now. My father abandoned me, I was forced to leave my fiance behind because if he would have been seen with me one more time it would have been our death sentence...”, she told him, not thinkong about how much of her own sad story she revealed in this very moment. “He loved me for myself, even though I am a werewolf...at least I thought that untill I wanted to ask him out for a romantic date and his door was locked and a note on his door that he had left. So it’s cute that you are sorry...and it is a normal human reaction to show this kind of empathy but it’s pointless because right now, I only see my pain and grief and as irrational this may be it is all I can offer right now...”

He also knew that it was not an impossible task. The wheels of his mind were already churning. “Let’s start with dinner, shall we?”

“The last time it took 20 years, so you better be patient”, she said, knowing that this was probably the moment he would run for the hills. “If you are still up for the impossible task, I would love to see you try...but having dinner  I would love to have dinner with you anyways. Good company is priceless”

“I suck at pep talks,” he said. “I’m sorry you’re not doing good though and if you need anything, I can try and help.”

That causes unbearable pain...a sign that it was true real love in the first place. And such a wounded heart needs time to heal...a lot of time. Jocelyn typed and then put the carafe onto the table on the terrace and sat down. The chocolate he had sent her was already standing on the table and she was really looking forward to this meeting. He had been a man she could have such a great conversation with and right now everything that could distract her was a good thing, at least in her book
