butch has nothing to do with being unattractive to men, and everything to do with being attractive to other women. the butch has always existed throughout time, though her physical appearance may have been constrained, and other women have always desired her. a butch is not defined by her ‘ugliness’ to men, but by her powerful and specific sexual allure to women.
