Next month rising singer-songwriter Andrew Belle will release his second album, Black Bear. The first single off the album titled "Pieces" has more of an electronic feel than his previous work but features the same songwriting that landed him a John Lennon songwriting grand prize award and spot on Nashville's Ten Out of Tenn tour. Phosphorescent's "Song For Zula" might have been released over six months ago but it has been a staple on my summer playlist. Opening with a quote from Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire," the track features stunning instrumentation and personal lyrics that take you to a dazed and dreamy world.

You might recognize Walk Off The Earth from their cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" (the video has over 150 million views on YouTube!). However, this Canadian band also has original material that is starting to hit the airwaves here in the States. The individual and unique vocal styles of the members blend together in the energetic and spirited track "Red Hands."

Tim Wilson and Ryan Carbary make up the core of the group known as Ivan and Alyosha, a folk-pop band from Seattle. The band has been gathering some attention from NPR for a couple years now but their debut album All The Times We Had was only released earlier this year. With tight harmonies and a soaring chorus, this track "Running for Cover" is the perfect pop tune for summer.

Another teen wonder has entered the music world to make you feel lazy and unaccomplished at 23. Lorde might just be starting a music revolution at 16 in New Zealand, but it’s with good reason. "Royals" starts with Duffy-esque, smoky vocals but quickly transitions into trendy harmonies about grey goose and jetplanes to create a sound at once effortless and contemporary, teen angst for grownups. Her deput EP The Love Club is now available on iTunes, I can’t wait to see what she’s doing when she’s 23.

At 23 years old, British singer-songwriter Laura Marling will soon be releasing her fourth album in five years. The first single from Once I Was An Eagle,"Where Can I Go", continued the darker theme from her 2011 album A Creature I Don't Know. However, in her latest single "Master Hunter", Marling delivers a strong vocal performance and introduces a tougher, more rock & roll vibe.
