Batman vs. Superman (Discussion)
It is very interesting to read how people are just so split down the middle about which of these superheroes is better than the other. Batman? Or Superman? There are fanboys and fangirls on both ends of the extreme here, fighting for their hero. “Batman would win because he’s smarter, and has access to Kryptonite.” “Superman would win because he’s stronger and faster, and he has so many abilities that would kill Batman instantly.” Granted, the statements about what they are or what they can do are true, but that doesn’t mean that either would win any fight between each other. I’ll put this at the beginning of this post, so that you don’t have to read through this whole thing, just to find out that if Batman or Superman aren’t altered in some matter one way or another, that neither superhero would win. At all. No matter the situation. They’re heroes. Not villains. But the Internet can’t be happy with that answer. No, you can’t, Internet, you insatiable beast. So, here’s the breakdown of what would very most likely happen if Batman and Superman were to fight, forgetting all other previous battles they have had with each other up to this point. Batman is an amazing escape artist. His detective skills are not ones to mess with, but he’s not the greatest, at least most of the time. He is constantly getting himself into the worse situations. Near-death perils. How many times can that man be stabbed, shot, punched, dropped from incredible heights, suffocate, and so on and not die? The scar tissue in his body has to be problematic, at the least. But this proves my point, Batman always survives. He may not ever see that knife blade slicing through his kidney, but he’ll sure as heck live to tell about it. He’s the worst at predicting what comes next, but yet always has a way out of it. A plan for everything, he just doesn’t know when or where he’ll have to enact said plan. And the sole reason he makes these plans is because he knows it’s better to have a plan, then to just wing it, right? Nope. He’s got no problem “winging” it. He creates all these plans because he has like clinical levels of paranoia. The off-the-charts kind. So, the thing to remember is that Batman gets himself out of everything. Superman is a boy-scout, through and through. Superman is almost always holding back and keeping his abilities in “check”. Superman himself places limits on his own abilities. He will use the least amount of effort to handle any situation, because well, he just can. He has the options to do so. Which shows that Superman has a fairly cocky attitude. He really assumes that he can do anything or do anything to anyone that gets in his way, or resists his actions. Superman does not like to be told what to do and how to do it. He’s not a good “plays well with others” kind of guy. He rarely lays back and relaxes. He’s uptight, and very headstrong. So, you take these two guys, and pit them against each other. Who wins? Well, let’s take the news and media out of the arena. They don’t know anything about each other, it’s the first time they’re seeing one another. Batman would deem Superman a threat because Superman is unknown to him, and Batman’s paranoia would control him. Superman would try to talk to Batman, figuring that a dialogue would explain or expose Batman’s true intentions. Superman would also find out that Batman is a human-being and “curtail” his own offense and defense. Now, whether it’s super-speed, super-strength, super-hearing, X-Ray vision, or any other of Superman’s powers, Batman would be captured. But not for long, Superman would underestimate Batman, and Batman would use that to his advantage and escape. Batman would return to the Batcave to study Superman. Batman would discover that Superman’s key weaknesses are Kryptonite and Magic. So, Batman with his skyscraper size paranoia would obtain some Kryptonite, equip it, and secretly store the rest of it. Batman would also discover that Superman is really a hero of Metropolis. A brethren of the streets, or the skies in his case. Batman would then seek out Superman to bury the hatchet. Superman would realize that Batman had the upper-hand at the end of their encounter, and yet didn't try to kill him, which would give Superman pause and he would reconsider his original assessment of Batman. Once Batman finds Superman again, Superman would listen to whatever Batman would have to say, and they would become two reluctant friends, at first. See, this is the point: They’re different characters. They have different moral systems. They believe in different things. Their reasons for vigilantism are diverse. Again, they’re heroes, not villains. These guys would figure it all out faster, and join together first, long before they would come to blows with each other. Get over it.
