OOC | Meg & G
thevaleriangenevieve
So I agree, these two have definitely met! (honestly probably through Clara? Even though its super weird, if G is ever at the Seymours its to see Clara and NOT William! poor buddy) I think that she would totally intimidate G, but perhaps one on one they might actually be able to have a proper conversation? I think G would be interested in someone from a different land (sheâs barely left the capitol of valeria!) and, being the listener that she is, would probably be fascinated by any stories Meg might have to tell!
Honestly G coming to the Seymour residence to hang out w Clara and NOT William makes perfect sense hahaha In fact, if G were there to see Clara and needed to hide from William or whatever, Meg would 100% be done to (and in fact enjoy!) help her out!! That being said, she enjoys the perks that come with being a future cousin-in-law to the royal family and is secretly quite pleased w this whole arrangement hahaha That being said, she thinks arranged marriages are horrid and barbaric and, if she can help break them up by the time she leaves Valeria (but hopefully not before! hahah she likes hanging at the palace), sheâd happily do it tho atm she certainly doesnât have any clue how to the do that...sheâs only now learning rom Rose that itâs an arrangemtnent etc)
Awww, Meg would love so much to have G as a good listener!! I donât think she really knows it, but she could use that!! Also, sheâd want to help G as much as she can - she secretly has a softspot for ppl in trouble - and probs give her tips like âif you have something in your teeth heâs less likely to want to kiss youâ or whatever hahaha
OOC | Meg & Cordelia
thevaleriancordelia
So, all of that makes total sense!!!!!!!
And, okay, so I feel like atp nothing has really started between Meg and Alexander â although it might be a little obvious that thereâs some flirting there (at least on his end), but I donât think Cordelia thinks too much of it yet ⊠I do think her at least suspected relationship with Alexander could possibly put a strain on their potential friendship in time for two reasons, 1) being the obvious that Cordelia caNNOT understand whY, for any reason, youâd want that and 2) sheâs also trying really hard to act Just Soâą (at least in public) b/c she doesnât want to do or so anything that would reflect poorly on Margot, just now ⊠and she doubts that most people would appreciate the Princess associating closely with some ~foreigner who is nOT respectable at all!!!
Actually, that second reason probably comes into play already???? IDK that Cordelia would straight out and say it and like itâs nothing personal, but sheâs probably more friendly with Meg when in private than in public b/c of this????? I mean sheâs always super civil, etc. (she is after all, a ~cough~cousin~cough~ of her future bro-in-law) but sheâs less engaging in public than she would be in private??? sheâs not fond of this inconsistency at all but what can you do/
Anyway, I do think that they have probably met at a family dinner or two/in smaller more intimate gatherings a few times at this point!!! I feel like the Staffords probably try to host the Seymours semi-frequently especially since they are trying to, at the least, delay the wedding haha and they definitely donât want them to become offended, etc. so I can see where they involve them often && now ofc that invite extends to Meg, as well!
Honestly Meg couldnât be more delighted w her choice of residence!! Itâs resulted in so many benefits like dining semi-regularly at the palace in private???? jewels and dresses????? a ridiculous number of balls?????? caviar and champagne????? Meg is frankly wondering why she didnât try this out much, muCH sooner!!!!
In that case, then, Meg probs does think that Cordelia is twofaced, but given her own position, she canât really blame anyone for that!! But Meg does tend to err on the side of mistrust and so sheâs probs like âwhat is that princess hiding!!â asdfdsf that being said, I think sheâd also totally understand that Cordelia doesnât feel she can afford to be seen liking her and Meg doesnât ~enjoy that, but she understands it I doubt this is her first run-in w that sort of thing. I also feel like, given Cordeliaâs a princess, she canât be ~shocked sheâd âput on airs,â as Cordelia would see it hahaha sheâs like âthatâs sort of her job i guessâ laskjdfkldj
That being said, she would still absolutely enjoy her!! Like, Meg sort of sweeps past a lot of stuff bc sheâs used to it and doesnât let it ruffle her feathers too much and sheâd enjoy Cordeliaâs wit and manners a great deal and sheâs not gonna let any superficial fun get spoiled by something deep! That is the exact opposite of what Megâs doing here hahaha So, I think sheâd mostly just adapt to whatever Cordeliaâs exhibiting in that moment and go from there hahah
OOC | Meg & George
thevaleriangeorge
hahah yeah that makes total sense!! I do think they may have met given the William/G connection ⊠like George isnât ~officially~ Stafford family (George: but one day! ;D) but I feel like they all kind of consider him to be that, at this point??? And so I can see where he would have been in attendance at a smaller Stafford/Seymour family gathering thing-y.
I feel like George is also pretty distrustful of most people, but i feel like heâd be especially distrustful of Meg b/c sheâs an outsider and I can see where he will look into the Seymour family tree a little deeper and discover that sheâs not who she says she is! tbh I donât think heâd confront her about it now since heâs really got nothing to gain from that, but rather just sit on the information and pull it out later if he thinks he can get her to do something for him in exchange for keeping her secret haha
Oh, absolutely!! Margotâs like âheâs basically my brother!...not the dead one...just...a brother...thatâs not...related...to anyone iâve ever met...â ;DDDD a description which probs delights George to no end for so many reasons but ANYWAY!! the point is that heâs such an intimate family friend as to be considered practically family itself!
Hahaha heâs 100% right to be so lksdjfkjds But in fairness thatâs the reason sheâs distrustful of him - heâs in power in what she feels is clearly a corrupt society thereâs obv something wrong w him too!! (which boils down to her not trusting him bc sheâs an outsider laksdjfklsdjfkjds) and, again, bc she trusts literally no one (serial killer dad will do that to you i guess). Â
HE KNOWS HER SECRET ALKSDJFLKSDJFKLJDKSJF LOOOOOVE If her plan succeeds and she gets close to Alexander, he might find it a good time to tell her what he knows but yeah just now thereâs not really anything she could do for him that anyone else couldnât hahaha I canât really tell you how sheâd react to this, though, bc it would probs depend on what he asked her to do. Thereâs a whole range from doing it to skipping town to trying to strike a bargain w him to trying to get him imprisoned for something (that she probs did) or something so no one will hear what he has to say, etc etc that could result bc sheâs...that person hahaha and no doubt many in-between possibilities as well!
OOC | Meg & Louisa
thevalerianlouisa
alsdkfjladjfl omg!! So I feel like Louisa may have heard ~of Meg just b/c I do think thereâs a lot of gossip that thereâs a Fadrean woman visiting the capital and just! so shocking!!!!!
I think Louisa would be a little curious but also super intimidated by someone like Meg and probably even a little distrustful b/c I think sheâs not sure what to think of Fadrea? Like I think sheâs probably just heard itâs so uncivilized there w/o really knowing the details of what that entails haha.
but omg tbh she really needs someone like Meg to get her out of her comfort zone a little!??!? But definitely like how Henry handles Charles in that a mild night for Meg is a wild one for Louisa haha. I feel like she would really like Meg once she got to know her but would definitely be a little hesitant at first???
I can also see where they may meet b/c Meg commissions her to make her a gown or something????
Hahaha 100% agreed! Honestly thereâd probs be lots of gossip about her just for being Fradrean but then Megâs entire...personality and all her actions just feed that aklsdjfkldjs smdh She enjoys making a stir hahaha
THE HENRY TO HER CHARLES I CHOKED lkasjdfkljdsf but actually hahaha Honestly, Meg might be a conwoman and a thief and all of that, but sheâs actually deep down (donât go spreading this around tho and ruining her street cred ;D) sheâs actually a v kind person and she knows just how much danger naivity can lead to (again, her dad was literally a serial killer lskdjflksjdf) so she probs does worry about Louisa and she lowkey insists âoh i need you to...mend a dress for me but fiRST weâre gonna go to a teashop in the cityâ or whatever and half insists/half eases her into it bc sheâs like âthis kid is so screwedâ laskdjfalkdsjf and honestly she has a loT more concern/sympathy for ppl from the lowerclasses bc...she is too (I mean its different in Fadrea but...sheâs a criminal so...not exactly the Fadrean vers of royalty ++ I feel like she grew up quite destitute and scrambling for scraps etc - hence her current job title - so she knows firsthand it can get real bad, etc.)
Meg absolutely would!! Sheâs determined to take as much as she possibly can w her when she goes ++ to make a splash enough to get near enough to Alexander to steal from him and so, for both reasons, sheâll want to be commissioning tons of of gowns!! And I feel like, since she works for the Cravens etc, Louisa is probs considered one of the best seamstresses around? And best is absolutely who sheâd go to!! And 100% put it on the Seymoursâ tab laksjdklfjsdkjf

OOC | Meg & Louisa
So idk if they have ~yet, but I imagine Meg and Louisa will meet asp since Meg runs in the same circles as the Cravens, etc. Obv Louisa is a servant, but that makes absolutely zero difference to Meg bc she doesnât give a flying fig about social strata (and also if weâre being honest, Meg is closer to Louisaâs social strata than to the Cravens - and in fact, Louisa probs still outranks her since sheâs honest from an honest family whereas Meg is the conwoman daughter of a mass murderer sooooo ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ hahaha) Anyway!! my point here being: Meg would 100% chat and socialize w Louisa!! Sheâd def find her charming but be alarmed by how sheltered she is!!!! Sheâs like âwe need to get this girl some real world experience before she gets totally taken advantage of!!!!!â and meanwhile James is screaming internally ;DDDDDD
OOC | Meg & Sarah
Honestly Meg has so!!!! much respect for Sarah!!!!!! I think, in a better world, Meg would prefer to be more like Sarah and wishes she were!! Ofc, sheâs anything but, really, but she honestly wishes Sarah only good!! And, ofc, sheâd never admit that sheâs anything but ridiculously pleased w herself hahaha
OOC | Meg & Maria
Meg thinks Maria is just great!!!! and wants to spend lots of time at the theatre watching her and partying w her afterwards!! Honestly, for all the money here, Meg thinks everyone is profoundly pretentious and is super grateful to meet the reaL ppl here, such as Maria!!!! Also, Meg 100% respects and understands Mariaâs desire for an income (Meg secretly being a conwoman herself!): she knows just how bad things can get wo enough!! and Meg, for one, ADORES the lap of luxury. Anyway, I can def see Meg trying to help her out in seducing whomever she likes or whatever in trying to get some much needed $$$$$$ What do you think Maria would make of Meg?
OOC | Meg & Flora
OMG Meg would love Flora so much!!!!! Like, honestly, she looks at Flora and sheâs like âmad respect that girl is living her best lifeâ honestly hahaha Anyway, since Flora is bffs w William Seymour, Megâs âcousinâ and current host, Iâm sure theyâve met!! And I feel like they have a great deal in common!! I mean, also a lot noT in common since Meg is secretly a conwoman and everything like that hahaha but still!!! What do you think?
Her Own Woman | Meg & Rose
thevalerianrose
Rose had heard about Meg Greene. Her arrival had been all the gossip. Normally, Rose wouldnât have cared much about an arrival of a distant cousin (especially a Seymour cousin. To be honest, Rose didnât much care for the Seymours, just now. Between Gâs engagement to Will and Claraâs impending engagement to John, Rose wished theyâd all just gone to visit their cousin instead of bring one here).
Her initial prejudice against Meg faded as soon as she had heard where she was from and how she was, to put it politely, not like most women. Rose had always dreamed of what life in Fadrea might be like. She always been told (with much severity) that it was a uncivilized and uncultured place - quite savage in their worldview and customs. When Rose pressed for details, she came to find that this meant it was a country of democracy, where women had the same rights as men (they even held property and political office!).
Sometimes, Rose thought about what life would be like if she were to leave all of this behind and run away to Fadrea. If it would not mean leaving her siblings and cousins and friends behind, she would have likely tried it long ago. It sounded like a paradise.
She had so many questions to ask Meg and sheâd wanted to bombard her immediately as soon as she saw her walk in the room, but she decided to wait until she was free from the company of her cousins (Rose didnât wish for Grace or Will to dampen the conversation with their presence). She was surprised (but not displeased) when Will introduced them before she had the chance to do it herself, before leaving them altogether.
âMeg,â Rose found herself repeating the womanâs name: so informal and friendly from the start, as though they had known each other their whole life long. âIs everyone in Fadrea so informal?â She asked, eagerly, âI think my father would hate it.â She couldnât help but imagine him there. The thought made her smile.
Meg chuckled.  âEveryone worth knowing is,â she replied, smile widening.  âBut, sadly, even in Fadrea we have our share of sticklers. Though, I daresay, there seems to be a shade more of that variety here, sadly. Ah, well, so much the better. It makes it so much easier to shock people and I confess, Iâve some fondness for the prospect.â
Arching a brow, Meg suppressed a grin. Sheâd heard much talk of Duke Clarence and Roseâs comment seemed to confirm the rumors, in that Rose seemed to view informality as the use of a nickname (something that was amazing to Meg - she didnât think her last roommate had even known her full name - albeit that had been a fake, anyway). Her lips curled upwards to picture what her father must have considered proper. No doubt, he was one for the use of full and proper titles. Meg tried not to laugh.  âHe is not fond of the more casual niceties?â prompted Meg, wanting to know more. Â
Duke Clarence appeared to be very deeply involved in Alexanderâs sphere, and this closeness with Megâs mark made him something to watch out for. Too often, in her experience, it was third parties who alerted her marks to Megâs real intents. She wanted to make sure she was well out of the way by the time anyone would be informing Alexander. Here, there was greater risk of greater consequence...but greater awards at stake, as well, should she succeed.
âMy dear cousin,â began Meg, nodding towards Williamâs retreating back as he swam into the crowd to find his fiancĂ©e.  âTells me that you are a relation of the Queen? How exciting! And of his own fiancĂ©e, the Princess Genevieve, as well. Does that not mean,â she added, entwining her arm with Roseâs.  âThat you and I are presently to be connected, having mutual cousins?â
Come with Me | Alexander & Meg
thevalerianalexander
So, she wouldnât come to his bed quite so easily, would she? Had they been back home, such an invitation to sneak off alone with him would have been all that a young woman needed to fall at his feet. Truth be told, there was something a little refreshing in her slight resistance.
His upper lip twitched into a hint of a smirk; watching her as a lion might watch itâs prey.
âNo. And certainly not one such as this,â He replied. It was a cool evening, but warm for the quite warm for the season. After battling several brutally cold and wet days, the dry warmer air was a welcome change. He continued to watch her; never directing his gaze elsewhere even as he took out a match and lit himself a cigar; inhaling both tobacco and the sweet scent of her.
âI donât mind,â He said, âIt gives the people something to talk of,â He said, in a rather generous tone, gesturing broadly with his hand, as though the populace did nothing but wait with baited breath for news (any news!) of their King. âAnd as soon as a more unpleasant rumor becomes believed as fact ⊠well, there are several ways to silence it. Back home, when you are in my company, my dear, you need never fear for your reputation.â
But the rules were different here. And he did need to be careful. Perhaps more careful that he had planned on being this evening. Once he secured the crown, everything before him and more could be his with the snap of his fingers. Until then, he must remember to exert some patience. Still, he was confident that he would be able to manage a tryst or two with Margaret Greene before he claimed the throne.
A hunter, then, thought Meg, allowing herself the smallest of coquettish smiles. She must encourage while still holding him at armâs length. It was a delicate balance but Meg knew the steps to the dance all too well. Of course, every dance was a little different, tailored to her new partner, and there was still much to learn. She had also never tried for a King, before, but Meg was fond of challenges. It was, aside from his horrid reputation (she liked to choose bad people - it almost gave her the sense that she was doing the right thing...almost), the reason she had chosen him instead of any of the other wealthy men here. Â
The music of dancing drifted out onto the veranda from the open doors; the moonlight reflected in silver pools all around them; even the scent of his cigar was pleasing to her. If Meg had been a different person, perhaps she might have been charmed by these things, instead she considered how the setting was ideally suited to her particular gambit and smiled softly at her good fortune. She wondered if he preferred her to seem to fall in love, or if he preferred a cleaner affair: no emotions (even one-sided) involved. She could work with either, of course, though the latter was her own particular preference.
âHow do you find Valeria, so far, Your Majesty?â she inquired.  âI confess, it is refreshing to meet someone else who is not a native. Otherwise, I might feel almost an outcast, were it not for my dear cousins who have so kindly taken me in.â In truth, the Seymours have merely proven an easy mark, but they were kind enough people and she bore them no ill will.
Oh, sheâd chosen well, Meg thought with a spark of excitement. Fewer than half a dozen sentences in, and already heâd proven himself one of the most arrogant people Meg had already met...which was something of an accomplishment, given that her father had been a serial killer who did it for the feeling of power and superiority. Yes, she would enjoy pulling the wool over his eyes. Her father had taught her to hate men like this.
Meg turned her back to the railing to look more carefully at Alexander and turned her face towards him in her best look of faux-sympathy.  âHow lonely,â she said, as though affected with his tragic circumstances.  âIt must be to wear a crown. How you must ache for companionship, with everyone always watching you.â Meg took a step forward, seemed to remember herself, and stopped.  âYour people must be grateful to have so generous a ruler as you so clearly are.â Meg smiled privately, thinking what a ridiculous notion he carried in his head that simply because he did not hear a thing, no one thought it.  âThat is, indeed, a heartening thing to hear, Your Majesty. Am I to glean, then, that I might be welcome in your country?â

All the Delights of the Season | Henry & Meg
The Valerians had turned out in droves: everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the foreign king. Henry had caught more than that, thus far, and already it was more than he cared for. He hoped Alexander Lambtonâs stay in Valeria would be a short one, but he feared that he might become a permanent resident, instead.Â
Henry was busy avoiding the guest of honor, as well as his own family (John aside), when he approached Meg Greene.Â
In the short time that they had known each other, heâd found her company refreshing: he appreciated her candor and her sense of humor (and she was rather easy on the eyes, too). It only added to her appeal that his father both disliked and distrusted her (solely on the basis of where she was born). When Henry felt his fatherâs eye on him, he was eager to be seen in her unsavory company.Â
âI must say ⊠the Staffords do know how to put on quite the spectacle. Tell me, have you seen anything as wondrous as all this, back home?âÂ
âAs wondrous as this?â mused she. Meg laughed at the sound of his question.  âOnly at public executions,â she drawled. Specifically, her fatherâs public execution for mass murder, but that didnât bear repeating in this company.  âEveryone in Fadrea turns out for festivals of that kind,â she added with an amused glint in her eye.  âThough, there was significantly less gold and far fewer jewels if I recall correctly. There was however, just as much dancing and, unbelievable as it might seem,â she added, conspiratorially as she glanced over the stumbling throng. âAn even greater number of drunkards.â
Meg grinned.  âI imagine that is precisely the sort of comparison your new Queen had hoped her guests might draw,â she joked. Meg shrugged. She didnât especially care what the queen thought but she did rather enjoy amusing and being amused and that was all that mattered within the realm of this conversation. In truth, she doubted anyone else would ever label her fatherâs execution the way she just had. But then, Meg was fond of wearing humor as a shield. Her fatherâs death had been a wild bag of mixed emotion for his only daughter.
âAnd you, my lord - have you ever experienced anything so wondrous as this?â she inquired, gesturing towards the general splendor around them.  âI imagine all this must feel rather commonplace here in Valeria? In Fadrea we hear such strange rumors of things here. Is it true that your great grandmother was married in a gown all of cloth-of-gold and insisted upon gowns of cloth-of-silver for dancing? Or that the queen has a diamond in her possession larger than my fist? Or that Duke Clarence possesses a goblet made from the skull of his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandsireâs deadliest foe?â She grinned, half-teasing, though these were indeed rumors that circulated and she did, in fact, want to know what veracity may lurk in them.
