For those who don't know, it was on the 24th of November, 1955, that Welt Joyce died and named his successor. Why am I an artist if not to commemorate the worst day of my favourite character's life?
So, I'm sure a lot of you have heard of OCSN (OC Social Network) by now. If you haven't: it's basically a platform where you can roleplay as your OCs as if they were posting on social media. It sounds fun, right?
But the thing is, OCSN was advertised as "a break from the AI slop", mostly in reference to the Status AI app—which, if you don't know, is similar in concept to OCSN, except it's entirely driven by AI. HOWEVER, these two apps are made by the SAME company: Wishroll.
I haven't seen that many people talking about it online, and I believe that a lot of people aren't even aware of it. This already makes me very iffy about using the app. But I've also heard that their dedicated Discord server is moderated by mostly minors, likely underaged volunteers. I'm not sure how accurate this claim is, but there have been a lot of similarly bad claims about the server and the developer.
Speaking of the developer—and I want to preface this by saying: I do not want to badmouth them or anything like that, since a lot of this stuff is only alleged (I think). However, to me they feel... disingenuous? On TikTok (which is their main platform for advertising, I believe), their handle is "octakes2005". Their bio is "who wants to hear about my ocs..." and all their videos are about OCSN. It kills me to say this, but it all feels very 'performative.' (God, I hate using that word and in this context...)
I feel like someone who was actually passionate about their OCs would have at least a FEW videos dedicated to them. AGAIN, this is all just my opinion.
The app also seems very buggy in general, at least in my experience. When I tried it for the first time, it would crash every time I reached the OC Scratch Card screen—which is UNAVOIDABLE, because it appears when you click on your OC's profile. (This happened to a couple other people according to the Google Play reviews, so I know I'm not alone in this aspect.)
It just sucks, y'know? I was actually really excited for this, and so were a lot of other people. This feels more like an attempt to milk profits from a community that wants a dedicated space in which they won't get ridiculed for what they make or enjoy, rather than an ode to it.

this is also how i feel about those people on TikTok that try to make everything into some sort of "theory" NO!! THERE IS NO THEORY!! YOU'RE JUDGING PEOPLE BASED ON EXTREMELY REFUTABLE INTERNET TERMS!!!
i took a break from art for a little while since school has become more and more of a pain in the ass. this was the first thing i made when i came back to it.
aster's been due for a redesign for.... a while. and though this isn't the final product, necessarily—i'll definitely be adding more stuff and making changes here and there—i'm pretty proud of how it turned out. it's definitely an improvement over his original design.
see, i didnt really have a theme when i initially designed aster. i sort of just sat down and finished it within a few hours without much thought put into it. this time i actually compiled a bunch of references so that i could get a clear picture of what i wanted from his design.
i also started with his silhouette first. i really like characters with big poofy jackets, so i based it off that.
