Vet Internship!
Hi! So, I’m Syd. My high school gives us (the seniors) internship opportunities to go to workplaces around our community and learn valuable skills outside of the stuffy classroom environment. Being a big lover of animals and having an interest in medical fields of study and work, I decided to ask my local vet clinic. Thankfully, they were quick to say yes and help me on my way to interning for them!
Now it’s the night before I start my internship and I am so incredibly excited. My newly bought scrubs are folded and ready to put on, I’ve planned myself a smart, healthy breakfast, and my brand-new tennis shoes are ready at the front door! I start first thing in the morning at 8AM.
This blog is a good way for me to detail things that are happening in my day to day life at the vet’s office. I need to make a portfolio during my time interning, and part of that is telling my school internship supervisor about what happens during my work time. I’m much faster at typing than I am at physically writing, so I felt it appropriate to make a blog here and then copy it into a journal when I have the time! I also felt this would be helpful to anyone else who has similar programs at their school, or might be looking into a career as a veterinarian! Sure, this might not be the best source for specific details, but I hope it’s fun to read about my personal experiences!
