   “She quit.” Which was true, for both of her predecessors. Cass had willingly passed on the mantle; Barbara, less so. They had both grown beyond the cowl, Cassandra having developed her own distinct identity as the Black Bat, and Oracle was arguably the most powerful human being on the planet with her web of information. “Big Sister”, indeed. Stephanie, however, still needed the symbol, the support.

   But this was getting old. He had to know that, if she were really a Bat, he wouldn’t get anything substantial out of her. Everyone knew that Batgirl wasn’t was spooky-scary, stitched up ninja anymore. Well, everyone except this joker, apparently. “Look, Tex, you gonna shoot me here, or what? I’ve got a job to do and the moonlight’s waning.”
