Hey yes it’s me again, reminding yall to SUPPORT CONTENT CREATORS and REBLOG ART AND WRITING :)

because appearently people here forgot that the ones who post original content would like to be supported. (and not because we’re selfish, but because CREATING ORIGINAL CONTENT IS DIFFICULT AND TAKES TIME, and not receiving support is really demotivating. )

Now take a look at these.

People literally stopped reblogging art. (and tumblr hiding our posts and not suggesting them to other people SURELY DOESN’T HELP😀) Which makes me wonder.

WHY TF AREN’T PEOPLE REBLOGGING ORIGINAL CONTENT ANYMORE?

Reblogging is the only way you can help artists and writers to get the stuff they post seen by others, and it lets us understand that people care about what we do. Consider it like… giving a tip to the artist: they make original content, and if you really like it, you reblog it, helping them and also making them happy :). (Also if people don’t reblog, small artists will never have the occasion to shine so PLEASE do it.)

Also, Liking a post is nice, yeah, but unfortunately it won’t get the post anywhere.

So. If you like an artist/writer and wish to support them, LIKE but also REBLOG, it takes two seconds to click that green arrow button and share something with your followers and people should learn again how to do that.

It is my understanding that people aren’t reblogging content anymore because they are afraid. Afraid of getting called out because the ship/show/etc is “problematic”, by whatever definition passes as problematic for the Purity Patrol this week. Afraid of getting harassed because “this is LuRduruLLuHy promoting [insert reviled and completely misused shockword of the day]”. Afraid of being called “p*dophile/inc*st supporter 🤢🤮” or the dozen other verbs that end in -ize.

Even if the posted content itself is squeaky clean, if that creator has ever created something that could remotely be deemed as “sus”–or voiced a “controversial” opinion, or supported someone who was being harassed, or took a firm stance against censorship, or rejected anti rhetoric in any way–they are in danger of being doxxed, bullied, and antagonized. Sometimes to mental and physical ruin.

There are deeply disturbed people out there who will spend hours digging through every single post a user has made just to be able to call out the user for having once, 6 years ago, reblogged something that ticked a check box on the anti Sic ‘Em list. Just agreeing with or endorsing a creator’s content is enough to get a reblogger, a totally innocent bystander, in hot water, socially speaking. So it’s easier and safer to just like something and quietly disappear.

It sucks. It’s awful. It’s a toxic, horrible environment for creators and fans alike. Suddenly everyone’s terrified of a bunch of–generally speaking–ignorant bullies in their early to mid 20s who haven’t been educated properly or developed any critical thinking skills yet. A lot are just hateful assholes, who tf knows. Some platforms are worse than others. (Twitter comes to mind.) I have been personally affected by this phenomenon. I am a content creator and I’m a content supporter. But this garbage isn’t going to stop until we creators–and especially supporters–do something about it.

Make a sideblog if you have to. Don’t tell anyone who you are. This is the internet, you don’t have to tell anyone jack. Reblog that “problematic” content. Reblog it twice. Tag it so that others can find it. Spread it. Share it. Turn off anon asks. And stand with your favorite creators if you see them getting harassed for whatever BS reasons the pearl-clutching Karens have invented today. Don’t just shrivel up into the shadows and say “okay, guess I’ll die”.

Screw that. Report harassment and death threats. Block and ignore the haters. Support creators. Be vocal. Be brave. Be calm. Stand together. This Puritanical American-centric mentality regarding censorship and morality is starting to spread across the internet like a cancer. We need to stop it now because it’s only going to get worse. There are very few places remaining online where creators are truly 100% free anymore. If we don’t put our collective foot down and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, then we’re going to lose a lot more than just our motivation to create.
