We said goodbye to Bunka Hostel today! Good place with helpful staff and great breakfast for only 350yen! We both missed having more of a space where we could hang out, but that’s just the opinion of two introverts.
Now onto Matsumoto! … first a quick stop in Nagano, BUT THEN!
We waited in line for over an hour to activate our rail pass but now we’re finally waiting on our train… and wondering if we’re allowed to eat anything on it? 🤔🥐🍓🍳
Too tired to to write anything in English. Google translate this shit, my guys. 💖
Exploring asakusa 🎎 In addition to us almost missing our flight to Tokyo, our luggage DID miss the flight and we found out that our bags would not arrive until the 7th of April (we landed late in the evening on the 5th). So no luggage and a lot of time spent with customs at Haneda Airport. So much time, indeed, that when we were done the last trains had departed and our only options were to try to find a bus that might get us close to our hostel… Or just take the taxi. We chose the latter. Finally! We arrived at our hostel, sweaty, tired and a little frustrated from the many things that had gone wrong and headed straight to bed. And now. Our first day in Japan! We’re staying in Asakusa which is a very hip and youthful part of Tokyo that is also home to the Sensoji-temple and Tokyo Skytree (the tallest tower in thE WORLD!!) So for our first trip out and about in the streets of Tokyo we decided to head to Sensoji-temple! … After buying some shirts that were not sweaty and disgusting So beauty, much wow. The trip to Sensoji went smoother than expected. Apparently we live VERY close by! The temple was beautiful and surrounded by cherry blossoms, but also very much filled with people - locals and tourists alike. Inside the temple you could pray for good fortune or “politely shake” a box with sticks to get your fortune told. Rat was told she had excellent luck where I just found that my fortune was “meh” (medium). From Sensoji-temple we walked down Nakamise street that is filled with booths where you can buy a wide assortment of food or tourist crap. Lovely, lovely tourist crap. Also a very crowded place, but like many places in Tokyo it is made more pretty by the presence of the Cherry blossoms After Sensoji and Nakamise street we decided we would head towards the Skytree (Sukaitsuri - I kid you not, this is apparently the Japanese name. Read it aloud) buuuut, we got a little sidetracked. First we found Sumida park along the Sumida River which was filled with beautiful Cherry Blossom trees! Very beautiful, very romantic and very confusing in regards to where you’re allowed to walk and where you can only ride your bicycle. Oops. We walked on, determined to get to the skytree but when we were almost at the foot of the tower we saw an anime and gudetama inspired café which, naturally, we had to check out. We also had to check out the anime shop next to it. We had to. After some anime merch we went to the café and ordered some, um, questionable food. Those are squidballs btw. We couldn’t read the menu and just hoped for the best. The desserts however? Very nice and decorated in accordance to some anime boys we don’t really know who are. In the end we didn’t get to the skytree, only the anime shop at the foot of it. We did, however, get to see the skytree with lights in it at night which was pretty neat. And that was it for the first day!
Drawings like these are everywhere around our hostel's area, mostly on shops I think! I'm not sure why, but I really like them! 😃
A day of travel
What do you do, when your plane is so late you have 20 minutes to check into the next one? Well, you run through Doha airport.
But let's back up a little, the day started out far less stressful as we were picked up by Megan at the train station. Nadia and Megan (our overmatch moms) had been kind enough to invite us to visit so we wouldn't have to kill 8 hours at Copenhagen airport. Not only did we get to pet the worlds scardest ("the world most scared" Vallenca says cause she is boring, and now she is being sassy(I would never)) cat, eat Arabian food, and eat ice cream in spring, we also got to hang out with some of the loveliest people. Thank you for spending time with us and dropping us off at the right station, you guys are wonderful.
Well now, LET THE STRESS BEGIN! As we arrived at Copenhagen airport we soon realised we had no idea of what to do. Lol. After talking to some guys in the "information" we were told to go to the right place that happened to be very far away (Vallencas exact words), then we stood in line for a million years in burning heat and practically died, BUT was helped by the nicest lady at the check in.
I wasn't sure what to expect regarding "Qatar airways" but was blown away by how nice it is! You get free drinks, watch movies, and people are nice! Even if it took us half the trip to figure out how the headphones worked. We were both too scared to ask people for help, haha.
HOWEVER, when we arrived at Doha airport we were told the plane we were on was apparently late, and we soon realised HOW late it actually was. We were supposed to arrive around 05:00 and have two hours to board the next airplane. We landed at 6:35 and had 20 minutes to not only find the right airplane in the HUGE airport but also board it before last call. BUT we made it and have now been on the plane for 9 long pee filled hours (don't ask), and can't wait to arrive in Japan in 1 hour 25 minutes. 🎎🎊
SUP BITCHES AND WELCOME TO THE WEEB TOUR ✈️🎉 We're packed and ready, palms are sweaty (something something moms spaghetti)! We're now on the train to Copenhagen, where our moms will pick us up for dinner (hi moms 💜) which is very exciting as we haven't met them in person yet! (No. We have not met our moms in person, so sad much cry) We'll be on the plane to Japan at 22:40 tonight, but for now we will just eat knoppers, spill cola and kill time 🔪🕑 Sayonara, Vallenca and Rat, out! ✈️
