A shrug was all she gave in response to what he had to say, she knew he had a fair point since she could see it herself. “I suppose, I mean it is set up in the middle of the park, I don’t think anyone expected much from this. Who knows, maybe they will become amazing in the next part and everything will be perfect.” Even know she was trying to think positively, she didn’t really have much hope but she suppose the show was better than wandering around the city.

Wolfrick shrugged himself, watching as they were preparing to start one more time. “Who knows” he agreed. “There’s times in this kind of things where there’s various protagonists for different shows in different times. Maybe the girl from the second show got frost byte and they had to pay extra to the first girl, who keeps messing the lifts, it’s a normal thing” he explained. “Not one show is completely the same as the other” he added.

“Tienes un morro que te la pisas” She retorted her eyes narrowed at that comment and his nonchalance. This was a rare day indeed when someone came simply out of nowhere and began interrogating her in a subtle manner. Usually she would have scared the person with her sarcasm and when that did not work, stomped her heels on their feet and walked away and while the inclination to do so now was indeed strong right now, she desisted both in part due to his linguistic ability and her own curiosity. “International relationships? I see..so what other languages do you know? What else did you help her with?” Valentina inquired twirling her bike keys in her hand. At his mention of Sixes though, she straightened, her sharp gaze fixed on his profile “Yes I have heard of him, heard quite a lot about him actually..many of what’s been happening lately has his stamp over it. But what’s it all to you? Do you work for him?”

Wolfrick decided to just stop talking now, noting that she was indeed wanting to pay more attention to his spanish rather than his intentions. He still decided to just answer his questions, just out of letting her know enough to feel confident. “I worked for Arizona. Latin America mostly. She was also interested only in spanish back then” he said, now leaving his spot in the wall. “Yes, I do. I just observe, and give him information. Not a big deal. But we probably will talk a lot more than just that”

Jeb shrugged at his comment, smirking. “You sound like my mom,” he replied, but the grin was still etched into his face. It had been a constant source of arguments; his wardrobe consisted largely of hoodies, jumpers, coats and sweatpants, especially now that winter was here. He had one dress shirt and a pair of acceptably dressy jeans. His mom wished he would develop his dress sense, but he didn’t see the point. He wasn’t hurting anyone, so why would he bother when it’s the thing he’s most comfortable in?

He followed Theo outside, immediately putting his hood up before locking the door behind him. “Fuck me,” he commented, pulling the key out of the hole and putting it in his pocket, “It’s coming down harder than yesterday.” No wonder his mom had asked to borrow his car. Upon realising this, Jebediah turned to the older man. “You’re not going to say that we need to take a bus or some shit, right?”

Wolf was already dressed with enough layers to stand the cold. He was also used to cold enviroments because of the lab so he didn’t feel that much difference. When he heard the other curse with a very peculiar selection of words he couldn’t help but to laugh, turning to him just then. “If you were dressed nicer, I’d gladly fuck you but you’re meh to me right now” he replied, still laughing. “Get in” he said, unlocking his car, now covered in a thin layer of snow.

When he had already taken the layer down, he entered the car and start the engine, turning the heating system on  and smiling at his friend in a don’t thank me kind of dynamic. “So that is pretty much on the other side of central park. Let’s see how the driving goes” he said, more to himself and pushing the pedal.

Once they reached the coffee cart, Angela nodded her head. “You got it,” she told him with a polite smile before turning to the man behind the register. She ordered his drink and a quick top-off of her own cup of black coffee. As she waited for their drinks, she took a deep breath and silently scolded herself for being so forward. She wasn’t sure what had gotten into her, but it was very unlike her to be so brazen. “Here you go,” she said as she handed the cup to him. “I’m Angela, by the way.”

Wolfrick still occasionally looked around. He was sure his client actually forgot to get up today or simply left him there. He turned back to her when she extended the coffee to him and took it, looking down shyly with a matching smile. “Thank you very much” he said, drinking the coffee and feeling the burning liquid down his throat with pleasure. He looked up and nodded. “I’m Wolf” he said, extending a hand.

“Oh sure,” She smiled softly, her bottom lip briefly tugged in between her teeth before she exhaled, catching her breath in the air. She loved that feeling. She didn’t even think twice about offering her jacket up–she typically ran hot blooded anyway. At his comment, she looked at him again, wondering if she recognized him in the deep recesses of her mind, and determined she didn’t–so she left it at that, shrugging, before realizing she didn’t give her name–that wasn’t polite. “Oh–I’m Dana by the way.” She said, extending a hand. 

Wolfrick continued to just watch. He saw the slight error where the people in the back just plain went all over the place. Apparently they should have done some sort of eight but ended up everywhere. Most people did not notice though. “Hmmm?” he says, looking back at the girl on his side. “Oh...just call me Wolfie” he said, extending his hand, noticing he had said his real name. And his heart stopped slightly until he told himself she was not involved with all of this and she can know her name.

Jeb took the syringes from Theo as quickly as he could, cautious to not look suspicious as he did so. “How is it modified?” he asked quietly, shoving them into his backpack as he looked at the man. Morphine was already pretty strong, so he wondered if he had been able to make it stronger. “And do I tell them that it’s different or just hand it over?”

Wolfrick looked up. “Pretty much there’s this ingredient Morphine has that has to keep up leveled. if there’s too much of it, it gets even mortally strong” he explained. “Don’t worry, I did not increase it to mortal levels, but it’s higher, therefore, stronger” he said, looking away and sighing. He was starting to not like intoxicating people that much.

Slipping the packet of pills into his jacket pocket as unnoticeably as possible, Devlin also got up, following Theo as they started tackling the crowd, weaving trough it step by step. His mind was mainly counting the pills in the bag, his fingers touching the plastic as his hand rested inside the pocket, taking a guess at how long these would last him and hoping they were the real deal. If they were not, or should they not work as those he had gotten before had, he’d have to switch back to caffeine. Not that he didn’t get a high dosage trough the amounts of coffee consumed daily. Agreeing to go get some was both about getting a little more familiar with Theo and acquiring a much needed cup. “I do really want the coffee. And although this is a business relationship does not mean it can’t be friendly and highly civilized. Right?” He said, offering a smile.

Wolfie narrowed his eyes playfully, smiling softly. From all the clients he could possibly expect to have a coffee date with, he certainly didn’t match this profile with Devlin’s. And he was very amused over it. “Alright then” he said, cheery tone intended. “So tell me, will you need these to become a weekly kind of dosage or how much you want to buy in which interval?” he asks, non-chalantly walking to the next cafe alongside him.

“Right”. She was hesitant to say the least; there were two kinds of people who spoke to strangers; people who were probably on day release, or people who were trying to con or steal from people. She knew from conversations with trainees how strangers were the easiest targets; so perhaps her hand did tighten a little bit more around her phone, perhaps her senses did perk up slightly and she became that little bit more aware of her surroundings. That, she supposed, happened when you were part of a gang who was slowly being picked off.

But something about this man was comforting. Or at least, she didn’t think he would pull a gun on her. There wasn’t that palpable danger like there had been when she’d had Alexander Cole in her office, or the coldness that radiated off Wren Diamond. This man seemed…well, ordinary, albeit slightly more enthusiastic than was warranted. “I see”. A small smile spread across her face, taking the bait. After all, she wasn’t needed anywhere, and it would kill some time. “I assume you often speak to strangers then?”

She definitely was not his client. Not after noticing how she shrunk within her. It was funny to watch this kind of citizens who knew the world was not made of cotton candy. How their senses were always up and they were not trusting everyone, like most NYC people. And he would gladly continue to creep her up just for the fun of it.

But he was not that kind of guy. He would leave those kind of stunts to someone like Judah, who actually enjoyed it. He felt nice when people did trust him eventually. It comforted him in noticing he hadn’t changed that much since this whole drug thing happened. He smiles. “Yeah, I do” he confirmed. “I’ve worked in various jobs that requires you to do so so it’s a natural thing” he explained. “Don’t you?” he returns the question, amused.

Whitney had always embraced her bookish, nerdy tendencies. Although in many ways they made it so she felt like an outsider, different from other people, it was a part of herself that she had learned to love, unlike a lot of others. And so she’d become good at cherishing that part in particular. “Oh don’t compare yourself to me. My dad used to tease me by saying ‘a book is this girls best friend’, and in many ways thats so true about me. But books certainly offers a lot no matter what your genre of choice is.” She replied, nodding as she spoke. “Everyones level of interest is different.” If she started walking around expecting every person that talked books to have the same invested passion about literature she suspected all those conversations would be short lived. Her smile widened just a little at his confirmation. Though she could not help the touch of sadness that flitted across her features. Reminded of her own brother and their current feud. “What does she study? Does she collect books? Like, prefers to own them?”

Wolfrick sincerely laughed. No one could be so deliberately mean over bookworming. “Wow, that sounds like fun” he said, incorporating from the laugh. “I think I just read random books that call my attention, I don’t even have a prefered gender” he explained and he prepared mentally to talk about his sister, sighing and rubbing his eyes. “Well, she’s in an arts program. I think she’s majoring in voice or in guitar. She collects whatever teaches her any amount of art” he smiled softly.

Serena simply nodded her head in agreement as she tucked her hands into her pockets for extra warmth as they waited. “But surely that’s just adding to the story, right? I mean what would this be without them having a shit time now and then it all being well in the end?” The female questioned, glancing in the male’s direction.

Wolfrick nodded. “It really depends on how improvised this is. If they’re good enough to improvise a way through, that’ll save them. But chemistry is something that they must create before the show itself. This looks definitely like they were put together last minute” he explained.

“I don’t blame the kids,” he shrugged, “It’s whatever adult that stands in the back to the side who deals with the money. Some of them may be legit, but a lot of them aren’t. Plus, let’s not talk about the fact that a bunch of charities have been found corrupt.”

Jeb shrugged, waiting for Theo to leave before picking up a pair of jeans and a hoodie, as well as a windbreaker to wear over it. He didn’t know how late they’d be coming back, so he took a piece of paper along with the $20 for his mom and wrote down that he’d be back soon and to get pizza without them. He pulled on his sneakers and shoved his phone in his pocket, taking a couple of bags himself to clear out the safe. He always felt dodgy keeping his drugs in his room. He’d tried something new by keeping it in his safe, but his mom would’ve found them somehow. He kissed Beowoof’s head, scratching him behind the ear, before lifting the notes and leaving it on the kitchen counter and walking towards the door. “I’m ready,” he told his accomplice.

Wolf looked around. This people pretty accomodated and did not look like needing money at all. He figured that Jeb was the black sheep of his family. A kid who just wants to have his own money. He feels that hard, but sometimes he wished they hadn’t gotten themselves into this.

He heard Jeb go back and forth behind him, doing whatever and he just wondered how Tea was, now that he is going there. And how much more careful than normal he has to be. At Jeb’s confirmation, he nodded. “Dude, you seriously have a lot of hoodies” he  observed. “Alright, let’s go. The sooner the better” he said, opening the door and shielding himself from the snow.

He was about to say something before Theo came to the conclusion himself that he wasn’t going to listen to him. He knew him well. When Jeb had his mind set on something, it was like talking to a brick wall. “Uh, a couple,” he shrugged, taking a sip from his cup, “Why?” He narrowed his eyes at the man in suspicion. He was up to something, and he wasn’t sure what it was.

Honestly he was just hoping he didn’t have to lurk around the hospital because he fainted. “I see...” he said, looking away. “Morphlings are our next goal, Jebby” he said, turning back to him and handling a pair of syringes. “Get those to them as my special treat. If our modified Morphine works, I’ll give you more, ok?” he said, going back to eat normally.

When Beth had been a child, she’d gone to plenty of these events, crowd pleasers designed to draw a crowd, perfect for ‘candid’ shots of her and her father being a wholesome family. But now, whenever she saw events like these being staged, she found herself compulsively drawn to them, despite the foul taste they always left in the back of her mouth. Still she was there, sitting at the back, phone resting in her hand but looking forward, her eyes flicking around to see everyone who had turned up for the event; families, men, women, couples, young children…really Beth stood out, in her tailored dress and heels. That was why she’d taken her place at the back, out of sight – but still she hadn’t been alone, and a small crowd had gathered at the back with her, and one of the crowd was now talking…to her?

She couldn’t tell, but turned away from her people watching to the young man next to her. “Sorry, are you talking to me?” she asked, slightly bemused by the stranger next to her

He had noticed the girl beside was way too dressed up for being in the middle of the day in Central Park watching a custom ice show. But he did not comment on it. He hadn’t said that question to particularly no one, it was just a way of buying time for his client. 

Unless this girl was her client, which he finds quite improbable because the other person in the phone sounded like a male. “Sure, why not?” he ends up saying. “Speaking to strangers is part of me” he said, smiling.

“But they hardly use it to announce they’re hungry, huh? They probably noticed that we respond with much more love and care when they start whining,” Avalon laughed quietly with a small shrug and tilted her head to a side when the dealer mentioned her being able to get what she wanted. Of course, everything in life comes with a price, that’s for sure. “Hah, the problem isn’t about getting it, it’s about whether or not I could get away with smoking it. The police was a bit more forgiving when next to the word marijuana you have the word medical written down as well.” Ava looked around, before letting her focus fall on the man in front of her. “Um– do you drink coffee? Or could I possibly entertain you with a can of Diet Coke instead?”

Wolfrick narrowed his eyes softly, feeling slightly creeped out by the way the girl talked about the dogs. He quickly changes expressions with a quick shrug and nods. “Yeah, I’ve seen that. I’m surprised they think still believe those illegible papers. I don’t mind though; people sometimes pays extra to have it delivered that way” he explains. “ Mostly teenagers or husbands whose family are not aware they’re into weed” he shrugs one mor time and looked away at the door when she offered a drink. Come to think of it, this was his last stop before going home. “Sure, why not? I’ll take the diet coke if you don’t mind” he said,clenching his hands together just above his belly.

This kind of request, what he needed from Theo, was something he was far too embarrassed over. Here he was, big, well trained, years of experience in this field, and the idea of anyone finding out he was buying sleeping pills had him completely on edge. He did not want or need anyone to find out about his insomnia. That when it was not sleeping pills, it was caffeine ones to stay awake. He’d been on those for a long long while when he first got to this city, unable to handle the night terrors thrown at him in the wake of his kidnapping. When Theo took a complete one eighty attitude wise, Devlin only raised his brows. “Its a pleasure.” He said in response, firmly hugging back. Acutely listening to the message he was being given, only offering a slight nod in response. “Oh coffee sounds good.” He gave a smile, slightly impressed with how he was handling himself.

Hearing the confirmation, Wolfrick turned to the other, smiled softly and then moved his head towards the side of the park that was far less crowded and started moving, opening his way in the crowd as gently as he could. There was always this asshole father who didn’t want to let him move but that was something he could fix with a look. When they’re finally free of the people he, once again, shoves his hand in his pocket. “Do you really want the coffee or you just wanted to leave there?” he asks, turning around and walking backwards.

For a moment, she just watched him–mainly because he watched her. She didn’t know what he was trying to find, but she didn’t comment on it. She was a pretty open book as far as she was concerned. When he spoke again she gave a soft smile, hearing him say he’s freezing. “Well…I’d offer my jacket but I don’t think it’d fit,” She joked, gesturing to her small frame with a chuckle. She shrugged softly “Maybe they have thick skin. Or are just used to it. You get used to a lot of things that seem weird when you do them enough. Especially in athletics.”

He laughs at her joke, genuinely awed by her. “Well, I’m sure I can keep up with the layers I currently have on but thank you for the offer. You’re very sweet” he said softly, looking back at the ice. “Yeah, I think not only athletics, but I get what you mean” he said,quite unamused at the parallel in his life. “Oh, it’s going to start again” he adds, trying to switch topic.

There were a select few to be trusted with this. Devlin disliked having to ask, he’d love to score this kind of shit himself but as he was not in the business of drugs anymore, he did not have the connections or the reach. “I trust Nate on a good day.. With this I’d rather not trust anyone, but as it is, I’m going to have to.” He replied, his eyebrows set, his usual calm mannerisms gone. No he was tense, about this. About asking for these kind of pills. And yet he knew that this sort of reaction caused attention, that he had to find some sort of middle ground in order for them not to be noticed, to blend in. “Good to meet you Theo. Its Devlin.” He replied forcing down a deep breath, rolling his shoulders in order to ease the tension there.

He immediately got closer to the male when he couldn hear that much, but he manage to get the first message understandable enough. He was scared. Someone his build and his looks definitely was not someone he was expecting to be tense. But when he did the whole presenting himself thing, he knew he was trying. He changed his whole strategy right on spot. “Devlin! My friend, we finally meet! I’m so glad” he said, hiding the pills in his palms and then grabbing his hand shaking it with a good amount of force, enough to pull him into a hug. “It’s okay dude, you’re okay with me. Now be calm and follow me okay?” he whispered in his ear. “Do you want to stay or you’d prefer a coffee?” he asks, back in his friendly, loud, demeanor.
