Meet A’roūä & Xi’lonen - the Quaritch Twins!

Avatar is all about them doomed sibling relationships so I thought it’d be fitting to make another. *click for full resolution*

These 2 girls were conjoined twins (chest to groin) and without the RDA and human technology would have both died and taken their mother (Varang) with them. They were separated successfully - though Rory only has one lung and Xilonen is missing one of her kidneys.

Even though they’re identical twins (incredibly rare to the Na’vi) they actually have differing patterns & tahní - indicating to Na’vi research scientists that the genes that express the distinct patterns of the Na’vi behave differently than previously thought.

The girls have a hard enough time navigating their identities as part-human Na’vi, raised under the messy integration of Mangkwan and Human cultures. All combined with their parents’ quite frankly toxic relationship (there is a lot of love but damn if it’s buried deep under all the manipulation & power-struggles). Let’s just say they are remarkably well adjusted for their situation…still messed up though.

Short Bios

*Both are 15 years old - Born 2172*

A’roūä ‘Rory’: A masterful markswoman who enjoys tinkering and engineering - especially big machines like AMP suits, Gunships and massive mining equipment. Ikran Makto and future Olo’Eykte of the Mangkwan: She is a hyperactive, scatterbrained mechanical genius who deeply loves her family and prideful to a fault of her people - rallying the people against the influence of the so-called ‘great mother’. She may not be able to fight in prolonged battles like her sister but studying many battles and wars from human history has made her an excellent strategist, her favourite human tales is that of the Titan Prometheus.

Rory also has a wicked sweet-tooth like her pops and loves target practice with her uncle Lyle. Preferring more traditional Mangkwan clothing that she’ll just throw a jacket over when in human spaces (their AC is too cold!). She is closest to her mother, believing wholeheartedly in the mission of their people.

Xilonen ‘Nen’: You won’t find her on the back of an ikran but If you ever need to find her just walk towards the deep bass of Heavy metal. Dedicated to her people and inspired by the events of her birth she is in Medical training; combining both traditional Na'vi and advanced human techniques, studying medicine to both heal and to kill. Trained in melee combat, favouring her staff and sickle like blades. She has no interest in leading her people as Olo’Eykte, instead wanting to heal their hurts - but don’t you dare call her a tsahik! They are Heralds of Eywa and she is certainly no messenger.

‘Nen prefers to style herself in human clothing and dye her curly hair midnight blue colour using a traditional na’vi hair treatment that makes it fire-resistant (so she can wear it down and long rather than shaved and tight). She is closer to her father than her mother, even though he calls her a ‘science-puke’ (with love). The RDA is actively invested in these 2, as a new generation of Na’vi both raised under human influence and poised to eventually takeover leadership of the Mangkwan’s ever growing territory - they will fulfill what the TAP program could only dream of - Filed under ‘Project Remus & Romulus’. A highly classified long term operation, only known to certain personnel, not known even to their father.

Also changes to canon apparently are as follows; Tuk has a strange obsession with blood and body parts and is an adorable creepy fucker(can you blame him? He’s growing up in a war). Neteya is riddled with anxiety at being the oldest, K’ir is a peaceful; femboy who had done nothing wrong in his life, Lo’a discovered Jane’s old metallica CD’s and how now made being a brooding teenager her whole personality. Neytir is panicking at realizing he just helped spawn an exact copy of Jane in Lo’a and is single handedly holding everything together as iconic male wife while also having his arch nemesis be a feral human teenager(spider).
