quick, tell me the weirdest compliment you’ve ever gotten. my doctor told me i have impeccable eardrums
my dentist once told me (in an appreciative tone) that i have huge neanderthal-like canine teeth
oh i AM losing my mind over this
I have frequently had doctors complain to me that I have tiny ear canals and like
I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that information besides apologize for providing a subpar patient experience?
When I had surgery, the anesthesiologist had me open up my mouth so they could “see what they were working with” when they intubated me and they were like “oh nice, lots of room! [assistant] come look!” And the assistant came to look down my throat and was like “nice” 😂
My wife, when we were first dating, told me I reminded her of a walrus, you know, a really pretty one.
a dancer once told me i had beautiful achilles tendons. (they are v long, i think. i have always been able to squat with my feet flat on the floor with no practice, which is unusual for americans.)
my doctor told me that my blood pressure is excellent, like yes i’m young and healthy but i have blood pressure out of a medical textbook, and i told my mom that and my mom said oh yes, you have genetically perfect blood pressure. you inherited it from my side of the family.
A mortician told me my skintone is so pale I’d be a pain in the ass to embalm
A yoga instructor complimented me on having “stretchy hips” - I’m not overall flexible I just apparently accidentally trained myself to be a master of all hip opening yoga poses by sitting in the weirdest ways possible at home.
My sonographer exclaimed that I have “the cutest little uterus” while giving me an ultrasound.
I once went to a doctor for hip pain, she proceeded to lay me down and stretch my legs all kinds of ways, going “wow you’re so flexible, I guess you’re fine”. I’m hypermobile.
I have excellent veins. “Very juicy,” said the nice totally-not-a-vampire nurse taking my blood for a hormonal panel.
A woman once complimented my teeth asking if I had gotten them altered or it they were naturally that sharp looking before declaring I’d be a big hit at the gothic fetish club in the city
i think the moral of this post is that doctors are fucking weird

We are going to bake a rainbow cake!
Can you teach us how to bake one??
Of course! But keep in mind, this is only our second attempt!
For the cake we are going to bake, you will need the following:
Step 1) Put the sugar and butter into a bowl and mix together until smooth.
Step 2) Mix the eggs and the vanilla extract into the mixture until combined.
[Here you see Pride Knight Roderick cracking an egg]
A one-handed egg crack and baking while wearing helmets…absolute legends
After seeing Wizard Howl cracking eggs with one hand in Howl’s Moving Castle, I just had to practice it!
Step 3) Mix the flour into the mixture until combined. Then separate the mixture equally into six different bowls. After this, put food colouring into it. You don’t need too much of it! (We used about half a teaspoon of each colour) Then stir the colours into the mixture.
Step 4) Grease up some sandwich tins (we used 20cm/8 inch ones) and put one of the coloured mixtures into it. We used two sandwich tins at a time because we could only fit two tins onto a single tray in the oven. You don’t want to put the tins onto different trays because they will cook at different speeds. Then put the tins with the mixture into the middle of the oven at 160°C or 320°F for 15 minutes, swapping each colour out until you have them all done.
Step 5) Once they come out of the oven, you’ll have cakes that look like the photo below! Don’t be worried if your cake looks a bit discoloured, it’s normal as the cake baked while touching the metal tin. We used a bowl as a template to cut around the cake to make it a bit smaller and to show off the vibrant colour!
Step 6) Now lets make the icing! Mix 350g (1.5 cups) of butter, 700g (5.5 cups) of icing sugar, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract together with an electric whisk until nice and smooth. Be careful, icing sugar can be messy!
Step 7) After the cakes have cooled off, place the first cake layer down (purple) and cover the top with icing. Next place the blue cake layer on top and again cover the top with icing. Repeat this step for all the colours, next placing green, yellow, orange, and then red. Finish this step by covering the whole cake with icing.
Pride Knight Gareth is putting on the icing now. Look at how focused he is!
We are almost done! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Im so excited, ive never been this invested in a cake before
We did it!! Who wants a slice?
This is how i know we’re not in hell because these people exist
I love you guys but the cake….it looks a bit messy 🙈
You are right, but all that matters in the end is what is inside
How did a slice of cake become so inspirational, how do you guys manage to make everything so wholesome and affirming?
Omg the cake looks amazing?! By the way, I really love the shirts that you’re wearing! Where did you get them?
It’s our own design! You can get one here:

J.D. Salinger (via quotemadness)
For those who aren’t sure who they are
You are you. Nobody else. Nothing else really matters. You won’t lose yourself.
You have the power to play with who you are. You can create how people percieve you. You can grow and not lose yourself.
Every change in the way you dress, in your beliefs, in your hobbies and preferances is still you.
When people say you have changed and they may have displease in their voice, it’s okay. You’ve grown but you are still you.
Go out there, have fun and most importantly focus on feeling happy and comfortable with yourself. It’s okay not to have certain words to describe yourself. Just exist in a way that feels right.
“Is magic not enough to live for?” Widget asks. “Magic,” the man in the grey suit repeats, turning the word into a laugh. “This is not magic. This is the way the world is, only very few people take the time to stop and note it. Look around you,” he says, waving a hand at the surrounding tables. “Not one of them even has an inkling of the things that are possible in this world, and what’s worse is that none of them would listen if you attempted to enlighten them. They want to believe that magic is nothing but clever deception, because to think it real would keep them up at night, afraid of their own existence.” “But some people can be enlightened,” Widget says.”

Your personal reading list? If so can you give me some book recommendations I've been in a reading slump for a year, but I'm craving to read something good.
Hi anon!
Here’s a list of books I’ve loved recently, and also a few on my reading list:
If you’re into travelogues, I would recommend Round Ireland With a Fridge by Tony Hawks, which is exactly as absurd as it sounds. Like the name suggests, it is about a man who travels around Ireland with a small fridge to win a bet. It’s a hilarious book, and I want to read other books by him, particularly Playing the Moldovans at Tennis.
On a similar note, there are these two books on India, which have become my favourite accounts by any contemporary authors on India. There is The Nanologues by Vanessa Able, which is about Able’s journey of 10,000 kilometres (roughly 6,200 miles) around India in the country’s cheapest car, Tata Motors’ Nano. The other one is The Epic City by Kushanava Choudhury, which is his account of living in and rediscovering Kolkata. It’s an honest book that’s witty and poignant and just perfect. It does a great job at capturing India’s (and particularly Kolkata’s) conundrum about modernity and tradition. I’m not from Kolkata, but I was reading the book when I went there on a holiday, and it made me fall in love with the city.
One of my absolute favourite authors is Ruskin Bond. Any book of his is a good place to start. My personal favourites are A Flight of Pigeons, A Season of Ghosts, Maharani. Or you could begin with this biography, which is so much like a memoir, it’s great: Lone Fox Dancing.
If you like the Beatles, you should read Dreaming the Beatles by Rob Sheffield. It’s not a biography of a band, which is what I loved the most about it. It is about what listening to the Beatles and loving the band means to us both as individuals and as a culture. It’s really well written and it made me fall in love with the band again. Another book by the same author, On Bowie, is on my list for this year.
The Lonely City by Olivia Laing is about how we negotiate loneliness and create art out of it. It’s like a memoir as the author discovers artists who lived lonely lives in New York, and what their art means to us. Her other book, A Trip to the Echo Spring, is an exploration of alcoholic writers, which is something I haven’t got round to reading yet, but I would love to.
I recently read this fantasy trilogy - The Licanius Trilogy by James Islington - and I absolutely loved it. It was great to read an original fantasy after a very long time. The details in the book are great, and Islington really creates an entire world of his own. Another fantasy book you could try is Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere, which is about a shadow London that lives below London. He called it his ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for adults’, and I think it delivers.
For my list this year, I have (among others) - Cricket Cauldron: The Turbulent Politics of Sport in Pakistan by Shaharyar M. Khan, Mud and Stars by Sara Wheeler, Inferior by Angela Saini, Ducks, Newburyport by Lucy Ellman, Jadoowallahs, Jugglers, and Jinns by John Zubrzycki and Drive Your Pillow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk. There are others, but these are ones I’m most excited about. Of course, this is just the beginning of the year, and I will most definitely have more books to this by next week.
Thanks for writing, hope you like the recommendations :)
