Transcript: āThis might sound like a hot take, but I feel like the Internetās obsession with uniqueness is causing legitimate brain rot in some people.
Thereās no reason why something like mental illness, for example, should be turned into this commodity where you like, get internet points or social currency by being different.
Itās like, by trying to break the stigma, weāve just come full circle, where now nobody knows what the hell any of these words actually mean.
So when you explain what a panic attack is, people are like āOh, like thatās like actually really scary.ā & āNot something I just experienced when I couldnāt get Taylor Swift ticketsā.
And I know this is going to piss some people off so just brace yourself, but I see it the most in fellow white people - Especially people that are like upper-middle-class.
Look, Iām just gonna say it: whiteness gives us access to everything but oppression. Thatās the one thing we canāt colonize. So what do we do? We turn oppression into social currency - Because we know if thereās one thing we can do, itās make money off of something that doesnāt belong to us.
And before the people that grew up on a cul-de-sac start to get offended in my comments, actually listen to what Iām saying: Donāt intentionally misconstrue it because you want to be oppressed. Just be happy and lucky you arenāt.ā

circe for my ap art class !!
I think itās very weird that when one country is criticized yāall tend to be like āoh well my country we would never āā uhh YES in your country too, thatās how states work? Yāall talking about people living in China or the US not knowing their history because the bad parts arenāt taught well in school: sure!!! But I know many people from Belgium who know next-to-nothing about the genocide in the Congo, from the Netherlands who say all their colonies were only trading posts, from Thailand who say that the indigenous people in their country have been and are treated fine only they donāt make an effort to be Thai, from Portugal who will tell you about what an amazingly positive force they were in their... territories, from Czechia who will tell you their country holds no responsibility for treatment of the Romaābut also it was and is justified; all were taught these things in school.
My point isnāt āother countries do this too so it doesnāt matter!!ā No! My point is that every single state commits and covers up atrocities in some way. There is no ethical state.
American liberals especially seem to have a tendancy to think that there is a Good and Perfect state and we must only find it and imitate it and then our problems will be fixed. But trust me: it doesnāt exist, (and itās certainly not in Europe??). We must create our own systems, and have the courage to change those, too, when we see their flaws.
Adulthood is like I have to go buy more shampoo. I have to go buy more coffee grounds. I have to go buy more eggs. I have to go buy more toilet paper. I have to go buy more paper towels. I have to go buy more cumin. I have to clean the dishes so they can get dirty again. I have to do my laundry so it can get dirty again. I have to clean the bathroom so it can get dirty again. I have to buy more cleaner to clean the bathroom. I have to go buy more rice. I have to cook dinner. I have to cook dinner. I have to go buy more shampoo again.

The Buried Giant by MilesToGoBeforeI
But then again I wonder if what we feel in our hearts today isnāt like these raindrops still falling on us from the soaked leaves above, even though the sky itself long stopped raining. Iām wondering if without our memories, thereās nothing for it but for our love to fade and die.
