Ok I have a lot of thoughts about the Sonic movie and its universe and all the characters in general, but first I’m gonna talk about how much I LOVE the family dynamic between these guys. LOOK AT THEEEEM!!
Tom and Maddie straight up adopted these freaking aliens with absolutely no hesitation. And also LOOK AT THEM!! They are BROTHERS y’all. And the fact that Maddie and Tom got them all of this stuff and made sure it was themed to their interests
They play baseball together AS A FAMILY and get ice cream and just have a fun time. These human parents love their alien animal children so much. I wish Tom and Maddie were my parents fr
And then we get to the Knuckles series (which I literally just started watching) and this is part of the first few moments of the first episode. Just Maddie being a mom taking care of her children and making them breakfast.
And of course grounding her children too. Omfg I loved this too much, especially because it’s implied that Sonic has been grounded by them before and he just accepts it and just loves the fact that Tom and Maddie care for him enough to ground him.

This is from Sonic 3 but I just had to include it because it’s actually such a beautiful moment if you think about it. Like, movies and movie night are things that Sonic has always loved and enjoyed. It’s what he would try to make himself a part of before he officially met Tom and Maddie. Even though he would watch from a window, he always felt part of their family on movie nights. And then he just decided to share that with Knuckles and Tails and have movie nights with them oh my god.
I love the fact that Knuckles got so scared he literally took Sonic and Tails’ hands for comfort. THEY ARE THE BROTHERS EVEER.
Also, I wonder what kinds of movies they would watch together. Sonic mentions Mission Impossible and Tails seems to be familiar with it. Obviously, I feel like Sonic would have them watching 80s/90s movies, but would he show them Disney movies? I hope so because I think that would be awesome.
And we know that Sonic has called Tom “Dad” before (even though he didn’t in the 3rd movie and I’m kind of salty about that). Does that mean he might call Maddie “Mom” one day? Will Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles call them “Mom and Dad” one day in the future?!!?
