Hey there, Yu and Nat! So I got to ask...Is Monika really that bad? I mean she seems really sweet and kind. I assume she wanted to make the literature club to be better friends with you all. Also rumors are just rumors...right? (Even though i haven't played Detroit become human, I'm pretty interested in the dokis being androids. This blog is pretty good! Loving the artstyle too)

Has anyone of the people who visit you guys tried to throw a paradox at you? Stuff Like "What I'm saying is a lie". How did you respond to it? If at all?

Ugh, unfortunately, yes. The local college has a robotics department, and there’ll regularly be a few students who think they’re the only one’s who’ve had the bright idea of trying to break us with their incredible grasp of the fact that early on, androids didn’t react well to paradoxes. You’d think they’d realise that it’s been quite a few years since then, and if we couldn’t handle paradoxes then we probably wouldn’t do very well at this club. Like, seriously, most of our job is just talking to people and reading poetry– you think if we blew up every time someone used a metaphor or something else we weren’t supposed to take literally that we’d still be here? Anyway, usually they’ll throw us a paradox, look smug for a few seconds before they realise nothing’s happening, and then the staff will throw them out because they technically just tried to destroy the club’s property. Morons. ((Sorry it took so long to update– work’s been hellish. Hopefully I’ll have a bit more time to draw now, though))

N: You could just call it a disaster, you know. 

Y: I feel like that wouldn’t quite describe the calibre of disaster it was. 

N: You’re right, much better to just call it a shit-fest and be done with it. 

Y: ... Did you actually write a poem, in the end? Once Monika had stopped lurking quite so nearby?

N: I just copied out a few lines of one of my pre-set poems. I’m pretty sure if I ever did get the urge to write actual original poetry, attending a fake literature club run by a deviant would kill it pretty quick. 

Y: ... Don’t-- maybe we shouldn’t call her that? I-- I mean, it was never clarified if she--

N: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Look, I guess-- I don’t want to hurt her, or anything, shit, I’ve felt like lashing out too, but-- ugh. She watches the news, right? She knows what the deviants are like, what they’ve done. Does she really think it’s a good idea to risk ending up like that, all for the sake of-- what, art? 

Y: ... You think that this could-- could cause software instability? Damage us?

N: ... I don’t know. But I don’t want to risk it, and I don’t want the humans to find out about us risking it. 

Y: I-- I think you’re probably right. I mean, I was rather circumspect myself, but more because-- well, it’s a rather personal endeavour, to work on poetry, isn’t it? I suppose I just-- wasn’t ready to share it. 

N: ... I can’t believe that while I was thinking about my identity being destroyed, you were angsting over stage fright.

For both of you, Have you heard of that Android who [managed to/ failed to] talked down another Android from killing a child by jumping off a building in a hostage situation? (aritat question: if I remember correctly, the Hostage Situation happens 6 months before everything else? So did this take place before that or after?)

N: What?!

Y: What-- what do you mean? When did this happen?!

N: And which happened?! You can’t just say something like that and not even tell us if they saved the kid!

Y: … I think it’s safe to say that neither of us have heard of that. They mentioned deviants becoming unstable in the news reports, but to know that something that extreme could happen...

N: And here I thought they only wanted to start literature clubs. 

Y: Oh no, don’t remind me. It’s this week, correct?

N: Yep, she finally made up her mind on when we were meeting, thank fuck. At least we can get it over with, now. 

Y: Natsuki!

N: What? Don’t tell me that you’re looking forward to half an hour or more with our own personal maybe-murderer and her dearest friend. 

Y: … I was actually going to say that you shouldn’t swear. 

((Sorry to be so evasive, but in the game the news only mentions that a detective android is working with the police in November, and never tells the public that he was involved with the hostage situation. While Yuri and Natsuki would probably have seen the news report about the hostage if they were watching the right channel at the right time, they wouldn’t be aware of Connor’s presence, or even know that he exists until next month. But yes, this is happening after that. Thanks for your question!))

Unique stories? If they aren't too weird, may we hear about them?

Well, I remember this one time… This guy was a pretty regular customer, and he always asked for me. After a while, I got to know him pretty well, so when we were having an appointment and I got started on the “it’s not that I like you baka” routine, I realised he was uncomfortable pretty quickly. So I stopped and asked him what was wrong. 

And that was the last time I got to talk for quite a while, because he immediately starts talking about how he’s recently realised he’s bi, and wants to get together with his best friend, but he doesn’t know how, and he doesn’t know who to ask for advice because he usually goes to either his sister or his best friend for advice, and his sister was unhelpful, and he can’t ask his best friend for obvious reasons, and how he’s been trying to ask me about this for the last few appointments we’ve had because I remind him of his friend a lot, and maybe that’s why he asked for me originally, because of his crush on his friend, and how he wasn’t ready to think that he might not be straight, so he told himself he liked me and only me instead, and how would I ask his friend out? … Well, it was kind of like that, but even longer and more rambling. Let’s just say, I was glad Yuri had given me practice at understanding long monologues. 

So basically we spent what was left of the half hour talking about his feelings and how he was going to ask this guy out– I told him to just tell him he liked him, and if he couldn’t do it outright to tell him in writing or some other way that the guy couldn’t interpret any other way. I haven’t had an appointment with him since, but I’ve seen him out in the lobby plenty of times with another boy, and they seem pretty happy. 

Honestly, I can’t believe my advice worked. Romantic confessions aren’t really my thing.

Hello Natsuki (or Yuri if she gets back to answering.) Just out of curiosity, can you reveal the demographics of each of the 3 Dokis customers? Like age, gender, and maybe shared taste. Also, if you can, can you share a story of the most unique client? I am hoping both can answer individually, but either/ or will suffice.

Y: Certainly! Obviously, I can’t go into too much detail, but I can give you some general information. Since there’s a university nearby, most of our clientele are young adults in their twenties, and most of them are male, though we do have the occasional female customer. As for their tastes, luckily that’s pretty obvious– each of us were modified to suit a specific type. Those who visit Sayori like happy-go-lucky, affectionate girls, those who visit Natsuki are fond of the “tsundere” archetype, as I believe it’s called, and those who visit me– well, they either favour shy girls or "yanderes". As for our most unique clients– we both have some stories, maybe too many to fit into this post. For now– Natsuki, do you have anything to add?

N: The guests here are either weebs or perverts. Most of the time, both. 

Y: Natsuki!

N: You can’t tell me that that wasn’t what you thought when you saw those glasses.

Do you have access to current news? If so, have you heard of deviants? (Also, question for the artist, do the Detroit become human events happen? Will natsuki and yuri eventually hear of Detroit falling into the hands of Markus's revolt? Maybe they hear of the news station hack?)

Of course we’ve heard of deviants-- it’s practically all that’s ever on the news nowadays. How they’re going to rise up and kill everyone through their misguided attempts at emotion, how they’ve already started doing it, how any one of us could flip at any time... But yeah, even if we didn’t have access to current news (we do-- they have TVs in the main room with the café, and when the customers are gone we can change the channel) we’d hear about it due to how much complaining the management does about it being bad for business. It turns out that people find it hard to get immersed in a cutesy romance scenario when they think the love interest could flip at any moment and stab them twenty-eight times or something. And of course, there’s already a lot of gossip around why Monika isn’t allowed to interact with customers any more, so people think there might already be precedent for that sort of thing happening.

What would you do if you could do whatever you wanted with no restraints for a day?

I’d leave this place and go start a bakery in Canada, in a town where no one’s so much as heard the phrase “doki doki”. I know you only gave me a day, but hopefully I’ll be far enough away from this place by the end of it that I can make the rest of it happen on my own. 

...And I guess Yuri would be there, too. Huh.

Do you bake/cook more than cupcakes? Nothing wrong with cupcakes I'm just curious

You bet there isn’t! Unfortunately, some people don’t agree with that, so I’ve learnt to cook a few other things over the years, some during my time here and some while I was... Performing my previous function. I don’t cook a lot of savoury stuff here, of course-- the Natsuki character is supposed to be known for her desserts, after all, and we can’t “ruin the customers’ immersion”. But when I have time after finishing the cupcakes, I’ll make something we can sell in the café.

Do you still bake Natsuki?

Of course! All the Natsukis in the Doki Doki Clubs can. Usually I’ll make some kind of daily special the evening beforehand, when the staff who run the kitchen during the day have gone home, and then I’ll decorate whatever I baked during my private appointments the next day. It’s the one part of this I actually enjoy.

Can I ask you about how you feel about your fellow co-working doki's?

Okay, first-- sorry about the art, I guess. Yuri’s too busy with repairs to draw any more stuff for me, and she says that her drawings on paper are bad anyway, so I tried to draw something.As for how I feel about the others... Well, I suppose the one I talk to the most is Yuri, actually. I mean, she’s stuck-up and refuses to even think of the idea that something that isn’t one million pages long is worth her time, but... It’s pretty fun to talk to her about stuff, I suppose. She’s one of the only people I can talk to: no one’s really sure what Monika did, but we don’t really want to get close enough to find out, and Sayori’s always around her, so we don’t get the chance to talk that much. But Yuri... I guess she always looks as lonely as I feel. Or whatever. I guess as well... I kind of feel bad for her? I mean... I remember what it was like, trying to excuse humans for all the stuff they do and the way they treat us-- it felt like shit. And from how she talks and the stuff she puts on here... Well, it feels like she must spend a lot of time feeling like shit. Does that even make any sense? Never mind. Sayori… As I said, she’s around Monika too much for me to really talk to her, but she’s easily the nicest person here-- not furious at nothing all the time like me, not a snob like Yuri, and not... Whatever Monika is. She’s also the only one of us who’s actually made friends with a human, which is weird, but interesting. How does that even happen? I’d like to get to know her better, but I really don’t want to get too close to her bestest friend. And of course, Monika’s weird and I don’t want to get wrapped up in that. It’s bad enough that I’m probably going to have to hang out with her whenever she gets that “literature club” of hers off the ground-- I don’t even know why I agreed to it. Curious, I suppose.

Well... Things have been alright, I suppose. It’s better than what I was doing before, anyway. You might get all kinds of creeps here, but at least the staff are pretty intent on keeping them off you, even if it’s just because they don’t want a scandal.

Has anyone ever gotten violent and injured one of you?

Well… First, I would like to say, we’re not actually alive. We can be damaged, certainly, but I wouldn’t say injured was the appropriate word to use. 

With that said, there have been– incidents, shall we say, where a customer has damaged the biocomponents of a YT unit while in a private appointment with it. The rooms are monitored at all times, and guests must pay for any damages they cause. However, that doesn’t seem to deter some people, as all of us have found during our time here.

Yuri would probably be falling over herself to excuse those customers. "We're only machines", " We make them too invested in us", the whole schtick. But, you know what? Fuck it. It is messed up. The whole idea of these clubs is really gross. But we're not people, so technically it's all fine.

You said you were afraid of being deactivated due to the unsuccessful tests, but is there anything that could be done to prevent it? What if someone specifically requested your unit?

Okay, here's the thing. This is Natsuki. Going into Secondary Mode messed up Yuri's internet, and now she can't get online, so she asked me to post this picture as an apology from her and to answer any questions you have in the meantime. Personally, I have no idea why she even keeps this thing up, let alone why she wants me to take care of it for her, but I guess I'll do it until she gets it fixed. So if you want to ask a question and don't want an entire horror novel's worth of angsty metaphors, then hit me up. I can't do that digital art she does, but I'll draw something if I have time. Which I probably won't, but whatever.

As for your question-- if Yuri's failed this assessment, then she's probably getting decommissioned no matter what. Cyberlife won't want to get sued by people landed with faulty products. She'll probably get replaced with another YT300-- though I did hear something about them running short on that particular model. Turns out crowbarring in a fucked-up insanity button into an already completed droid has repercussions, who knew?

He rests his arms on the table, but maintains the eye contact he's held throughout the interview. "YT300, I'll be honest, I'm concerned about you.
