“I thought I had lost my honor, and that somehow my father could return it to me. But I know now that no one can give you your honor. It’s something you earn for yourself — by choosing to do what’s right. All I want to do now is play my part in ending this war, and I know my destiny is to help you restore balance to the world.”

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Season 1) + the 1950s soundtrack
Music has always been a little like a character to us. I put certain touchstones and songs in the show because I wanted Amazon to understand the vibe of the scenes. Barbra Streisand’s “In Old Peking” was always in there, as was Anthony Newley’s “A Wonderful Day Like Today.” They had an exuberance and energy that talked about who Midge is. She’s an exuberant and energetic character, and she looks at life like, “It’s a wonderful day! I’m up, my dress looks good, my makeup is perfect!”… There were certain touchstone songs for each script we wrote that meant something significant.

We have a new sovereign, young and a woman. Let us give her a coronation that is befitting of the wind of change she represents.

THE CROWN: SEASON 4 TRAILER
Here is the stuff of which fairytales are made: a prince and princess on their wedding day. But fairytales usually end, at this point, with the simple phrase, “They lived happily ever after.” As husband and wife live out their vows, loving and cherishing one another, sharing life’s splendours and miseries, achievements and setbacks, they will be transformed in the process. Our faith sees the wedding day not as the place of arrival, but the place where the adventure really begins.

“sorry, i’ve had enough of running away, sophie. now i’ve got something i want to protect. it’s you.”
the crown | gelignite
I took you at your word. Believed everything you said. How happy you were for me. How you would support us. You’ve been against us since the beginning. Because you can’t bear to be eclipsed. Can’t bear to be outshone by your younger sister. You’ve never liked it. Admit it. And you’ve hated how Peter and I caught the popular imagination. Hated it enough to want to destroy it. Well, you fail to protect me, I will fail to protect you in return. You reap what you sow, sister.
