I recently had the pleasure of going to Danny's Warehouse in Culver City, http://www.dannyswarehouse.com/ where nearly everything is $10 or less. This place is perfect if you are a shopper who lives for the hunt and a bargain; the warehouse is stacked floor to ceiling, wall to wall, with boxes of everything dance related; the staff is very helpful, and there is a dressing room to ensure that perfect fit. I was shopping for matching blue leotards for an upcoming event, and ended up purchasing two different leos, both Silkteck by Baltogs, both made in the U.S.A. with the same awesome fabric:
one for my "boy body" $10
and one my comrade's hourglass figure $10
(I made myself voluptuous for better modeling of cut)
Then I found the $1 room. Floor-to-ceiling, 3 foot tall boxes FULL of random, amazing pieces.
Blue cropped cheerleading-but-I-live-in-L.A.-so-it-counts-as-clothes top $1. Emerald hotpants with gold sequin trim that DOES NOT pinch into my womanly thighs $1.
Super fashionable raspberry warm up shorts $1 - always needed
high-waisted, flared jeggings, with silver sequined racing stripe down left thigh, and cargo pocket below right knee. $1. It even has loop holes for a wide belt. Squee!
What I love about these red PLASTIC convertible pants, $1, is that I finally own a pair of breeches that let my knees breathe! And I get the twisted satisfaction of my dark imagination as to why plastic pants have been discontinued: a studio full of ballerinas warming up in plastic outfits - a fire roars through from a poorly discarded cigarette, smoked by one of the dancers - the plastic pants all melt to the dancers' legs leaving them horribly disfigured from the waist down. A rock-opera is written about the incident.
Hunter Green jump suit $1. Blue spandex hood $1. I will not explain it. It just happened.
Danny's Warehouse has basically everything dance attire related, so they also have a "Wacky Tights Bin," the contents on which are $3 a pair. Pretty groovy price - so i bought shiny nude $3, featured in the beginning pics, and this brown pair with red zippers up the back, $3:
Yes, I've already put holes in them.
2 QUALITY blue 'tards - $10 each
blue turtleneck crop - $1
green hotpants - $1
raspberry shorts - $1
flared jeggings - $1
plastic pants - $1
green jumpsuit - $1
blue headpiece - $1
2 pairs of tights $3 each
$37 with tax, and I carried my treasures to my car down the road.
Danny's Warehouse is a WIN.
