"There are no poor white neighborhoods in Chicago.”
“As soon as black women could afford to buy mink coats, white society and white women said fur was all wrong.”
Had flashbacks to my childhood...prancing around Andrianna Furs off of 95th and Western while my grandma either got something fixed on her fur or checking on a new piece.
In my grandma words when she feeling fly...She was looking tough in her floor length black fur coat! Still rock it to this day.
Maryann Rolle used her savings to pay staff after they were left out of pocket by the festival's organiser.
Finally, some good news!
I spent yesterday doing the Fyre Festival double feature: Hulu and Netflix. They are both worth watching and while the tone and tenor are different in both films, they provide a complete picture.
(Sidenote: I liked the Netflix one just a bit more. Found the Hulu version to be a bit more condescending and mocking - well deserved -but still arrogant. Netflix got more into how the Bahamians were screwed over.)
But I digress. Long story short, happy to see this woman get a bit of restitution. And ALL OF THEM need to be fined or imprisoned. Still not sure how the hell Ja Rule hasn’t been held accountable.
Peace and soul grease!

Was so crowded and hot folks had fainted, bitches was fighting, and we was still ALL caught up in the booty beauty of Badu.
Can't be offended after you done shook your ass all night. This fake PC culture is a trip.

Everyone always talk about how good Friends were but let’s not forget about Living Single. This show had so many black celebrities, every episode, who became even more bigger after their guest appearance. The culture, the love, the everyday issues we as African Americans go through living in the city. The writers knew what to write to keep us laughing. When it comes to entertainment, African Americans have impacted the industry & our lives. We may still miss the 90s but at least we can always go back to the shows that make us feel good.
You can now stream every episode on HULU.

So proud of her and all women who say no more. I stand with you❤️
“I asked a young White woman why she was studying social anthropology. She replied that she was hoping to go to Zimbabwe, and felt that she could help women there by advising them how to organize. The Black women in the audience gasped in astonishment. Here was someone scarcely past girlhood, who had just started university and had never fought a war in her life. She was planning to go to Africa to teach female veterans of a liberation struggle how to organize! This is the kind of arrogant, if not absurd attitude we encounter repeatedly. It makes one think: Better the distant armchair anthropologists than these ‘sisters’.”
