Egyptian expression; and it’s really one of the most endearing ways to tell someone you love them. (via arabicinenglish)
There is some GOOD in this world, and it’s WORTH fighting for.

There was no stopping even a slight smile at that.
So it seemed Ryou did keep some knowledge of his forgotten otherwise forgotten ancestry, and Net felt a bit of pride. Not to mention flattered by the connection he made - maybe one day she would have a way to tell him that was the very goddess she was named after.
But in the mean time, he had posed another question to her. One she knew in that instant she couldn’t give an exact answer to. How quickly time slipped by in her realm…Yet in her soul, she also knew, between her death, the very fall of Egypt, to the advances of civilization, that gap in time was enormous.

That ought to give him the right idea.
an older spirit. certainly from ancient egypt with mysteries it still held from the current time. how likely was it that this very spirit was somehow connected to the spirits he came in contact already, and soon came to know ? the chances are slim to none at this point. right ? besides, it wasn’t clear if the spirit was even from that age in the first place. to the spirits, time no longer meant anything to them like it did with the living. perhaps he could learn of her time. “ You have passed away such a long time ago. I would be amazed if you had family left here. “ it wasn’t a question, nor was it something that was meant to upset the spirit; instead, just a simple observation and trying to figure out why the spirit would continue to lurk around. “ Do you remember much of your time ? Like which pharaoh was ruling at that time ? “ he cringed, realizing that he might have overstepped his boundaries, and let his curiosity get the best of him by asking more than one question at a time. yet all he could do now was wait without overwhelming the spirit.
‘If you had family left here - ‘
Retracting one hand from the planchette, Net silently giggled into her palm. It was almost sad...to think her closest surviving relative was now elsewhere, somewhere caught between realms. But then there was Ryou, headstrong and inspiring, no mistake of the blood they shared.
She considered pointing the cursor back at him for a moment, until he would get the hint, but the spirit had no doubt how bright of a young man he truly was. Little by little, he was getting his clues; Net figured it was merely a matter of time now before he pieced together the puzzle.
‘A-K-N-A-M-K-A-N-O-N’
Spelled the planchette next after only slight hesitation. What a considerate thing to ask, when the thought of her late king brought such a feeling of fondness, that of which she sensed brightening her whole aura.

Perhaps it was best he couldn’t see her in that moment, as her sudden drop in demeanor could have appeared very rude. Though, in her defense, it was merely a reflection of the boy’s own attitude. Had he encountered a negative Net in the past?
She attempted to brush it aside the best she could - she was a very good Net, and she could prove it!
Going along, she hoped there would be aid in her homeland.

he was sure that he had felt a wave of negativity wash over him, causing him to shiver. if he had upset the spirit, he would proceed with caution from this point on until he was sure he was safe - otherwise he would have to end it. in the meantime, he waited patiently for the answer, reading out what was spelled out. “ Egypt ? “ it wasn’t the first time he’s dealt with a spirit from egypt; having to keep one in check for many years and did his best to prevent him from killing his friends. plus, there was the pharaoh. to meet another didn’t seem to surprise him too much; however, it did help with the name now. “ Ah ! Net. Also a name of one of the Egyptian goddesses. I … “ no, there was no way. stay calm. “ Net … Just how long ago did you pass away ? “
There was no stopping even a slight smile at that.

Oh, how very exciting! Their first contact! The first time a living human had recognized her in…centuries. She would have to be careful not to be too excited, however, not forgetting her place. This was his world, after all - to blur those lines for to long could potentially have dangerous results.
Nevertheless, what could it hurt to give him her name?
Glancing over the letters, she soon managed to spell out -
‘N-E-T’
“ N … E … T … ? “ ‘ Net ? ‘ had he spoken a different question or was this spirit playing tricks on him ? although he was glad that he was finally getting some kind of response, but to think that a spirit was now messing with him. another deep breath; he had to keep himself calm. after all, it has been so long since he had made any contact with other spirits, so it would be a shame to suddenly scare this one off. “ Net, is it ? I might have said it wrong … So perhaps you can tell me where you are from ? “ knowing the spirit’s background might help him pronounce the name correctly - that is, if that really was the name.

It appeared to be that time again.
There was always a tingle in the air whenever her descendant had pulled out that magic board of his, that Ouija Board. No matter how far away she was, she could still sense it, and whether it be sheer fascination or some spiritual calling, it brought her to him.
Sometimes, another spirit would already be in the room when she arrived, and she’d keep herself hidden. Others, Ryou would have little luck, and she would watch him stare at the wall until eventually giving up.
Today seemed to be one of those days. Minutes passed by with no results. She could leave and head back to her realm, but then again…She didn’t really have anything better to do.
Without much thought, she slowly walked over to sit across from Ryou at the board. She then waited until he asked one more time - ‘Is anybody there that would like to speak?’ - at which point, she guided the planchette to a corner of the board.
Yes.
how long has it been since he had last used this board ? either he had become to busy or he had figured the spirits had lost interest in the boy at this point now that the spirit of the ring was gone. not that he would blame them for he was sure the other spirits would go elsewhere, despite how sensitive he was with spirits in the first place. there, in the middle of his room, he sat with the board in front of him. minutes ticked on, and it felt that no matter what he said or did, nothing was showing themselves. just as he was prepared to get up and put the board away, something told him to give it another shot, that there were still spirits around him. as much as he had doubted his own mind, he slowly took in a deep breath and allowed his fingers to rest gently upon the planchette. “ Is there anybody there that would like to speak ? “ although, for once, he was growing impatient deep in his mind, he knew to keep calm and relaxed no matter how infuriating it can get.
‘ Yes ‘ for a moment, he wasn’t sure if it was his mind playing tricks on him and tricking his almost desperate self. curious eyes stared at the board before he realized that he had to ask something else to help confirm that there was truly another spirit here before him. as his mind blanked, he went for the more basic questions, allowing himself to ease into it. “ What is your name ? “

I am a horrible person.
For @diaboundkernel
Bakura winced as he was yanked forward by his ear, but he seemed to notice less as his attention was on his mother's words. "So what you're saying is, you still..." He paused unable to get the words out, as though they were foreign and unused, "..Love me , as your son?" He felt touched at that, his sharp features softening. "You act as though I wanted this. I won't apologise. I know what I am and I'm not sorry. Lecture me all you want, this is what has become of me. "
“Very well. Although, if you refuse to apologize, do not let my own disappointment and grief come as a surprise to you.”
Wish as she may, realistically, Net knew there would be no turning back in his way. He was too set in his ways. Even if he had the willpower to change it would likely take years to undo.
If they were to have any sort of relationship, it had to be up to her to accept and move on.
“Nevertheless…”
She noticed some wrinkles in his shirt, a few hairs out of place, and busied herself fixing them.
“Yes. You are my son, and I will love you for eternity. Unfortunately, I do not dictate what the fates have in store for you, but never doubt that you have a mother who will always care.”

"Forgive me that 'you' was the one who taught me forgiveness in this world. A world that left me to starve, that had no place for me and above all, a world without justice." Bakura spat, scowling at the fact his escape had been blocked. "Forgive me for not taking the right path without a mother to tell me it'll be okay, you'll have food , you'll have shelter and the world won't hate you. You weren't there. No gods came for me..No-one. Nothing. Only the darkness. Even now you don't give a fuck."
Her jaw clenched, but not once did Net bat an eye.
He had a right to speak, to defend himself…He was a grown man, and she could respect that.
But as soon as he was done, his final word ensuring her decision, she grabbed him roughly by the ear and pulled his face to her height.
“You listen good and well, young man - there will never be a soul that cares more for you than I do. Even with the way you’ve behaved for the past millennia, I would still die a thousand deaths for you; even when you are least deserving, the overwhelming desire to give you the world has never ceased. Why? Because I am your mother - that is my duty!
I tried calling out to you…Prayed you would pick up on my signs and turn back! Do not blame me for your choosing to ignore them. By the gods…Diabound? She was meant to be a gift from me to you! Strength, loyalty, companionship…But you had her corrupted with your beloved darkness…”
With one last scoff, she released her hold on him.
“So tell me…one more time…how I wasn’t there.”
"Pain simply became a part of my existence so I used it to my advantage." Bakura snorted, casting his gaze away. "You have that same look that all people wear before me. As though your own son wasn't stood before your very eyes." He turned away and started to leave, only strong to a point. Even he had his limits and his own mother looking at him as though he was a monster was one of them. He wasn't expecting her to be proud or welcoming, but he never asked for any of this.
“…Except you did more than use it to your advantage.”
She did not chase after him. Although she did teleport herself directly in front of him, blocking his path.
“You used it as an excuse for inflicting pain upon others. For that I am highly appalled.”
Now, her brows furrowed, fists boldly at her sides, she showed no sign of backing down. No more fear.
“So forgive me for acting hesitant when you are so different than what I envisioned for you. When…time and time again…I try to retrace my steps, wondering, was it something I or your father did to let you believe this path was acceptable? But then…if all children listened to their parents, we would all be one and the same.”
