Hello everyone! So after a bit of an unfortunate hiatus (*kicks wacom across the room*) I am hoping to get back into releasing new content soon. Also, after that awesome sale on Manga Studio 5 (it was $15~! Woot!), I now have ANOTHER new program to experiment with and make quality pages for TOH.

This hiatus wasn’t ill spent, though, because it gave me ample time to work out my changes to the old story and decide how I want the following chapters to flow. And believe me, there are quite a bit of changes. That being said, I should be generating new pages for Chapter 1 soon. Thank you all for your patience and I’m excited to continue!

I want to apologize for my lack of page updates lately… my wacom has been acting up a lot lately and it’s getting frustrating for me to work on my lineart. I’m not sure why it’s been doing this, but the driver keeps on needing to be re-installed almost twice a day now, and it’s getting reallllyyy annoying, especially since my computer’s doing this lovely little thing called ‘I don’t know what this usb is.” So while I continue to fiddle with my hardware/software, I’m sorry for not updating like I wanted. Worse case scenario, I’ll just buy a new tablet on black friday. Meanwhile, I’ll work on refining my plotline so that I don’t make any mistakes with my story progression.

So I was thinking after doodling this “Wait a sec, haven’t I drawn this before?”, so I went back into the old comic, and LO! In my Rietch Scarce extra “interview”, there was a tiny pic of Rietch with his two teammates. Now it’s like “How has my art style morphed?” before and after pic! XD

Yeah, Lauden and Elyze (yeah, I think I’m gonna have her go with a Z… why not?) have definitely changed a lot since their first incarnations.

Playing around with colors (and brushes in Manga Studio) for each of Rietch’s team. I like Elyse with blue hair... and it is a nice compliment to Lauden’s autumny color scheme.

Character Concept for Lauden (who used to be named Axes.) Part of Rietch’s team, he’s basically the equivalent of a secretary/researcher. Due to his name being too close to the character Axel, I figured I’d change it to something different.

He has noticeably bigger horns than before, and his hair is much redder.

New layout and banner on the website! Or rather, modifications and tweaks to my old layout. Hopefully it works alright for everyone. Should be nicer to look at than before, especially with all the links actually smaller and legible.

The banner was animated at first, but for some weird reason, the animation didn’t carry through... I don’t know why. So I redid it again, and it actually looks much better.

So now everything looks nice...

Sooo... yeah... now to turn my fiftieth storyboard into a decent page...

Decided to change my theme for my Tumblr! Now it’s got an updated look with all three of the mains present, not to mention a better assortment of links. I also changed the sidebar theme too to match it. Looks much better now.

Now I need to fix my current layout for my actual webcomic site... and finish that page... ~__~;;;

Figured I’d add this to my gallery, since it is a full color image after all.

Chapter 1′s official cover page, with Charlotte, Brett, and their house’s silhouette being juggled by a snarky bastard-- I mean Erik. I particularly liked being able to draw him in something other than his high color jacket. He looks pretty spiffy in this!

Also, first look at some of his trinkets, such as his ‘Lock’ talisman, his “Reaper’s Eye” amulet, and a small drop potion... which is technically a trap item of his own but I’d like to think it’s the bubble solution that trapped everybody. XD

Still having trouble with that damn new chapter’s start... so to unwind, I decided to play around a bit with Manga Studio 5′s watercolors a bit. Here’s Brett Dulce; currently age 17. This is the third concept of him (the first of which that looked any good).

So two different “concepts” doodles while I continue to struggle with beginning the new chapter: Elyse and the Shiny Coin Coffee employees.

Elysium aka Elyse is the new name of Tangela aka Tangie-Angel from the first incarnation of TOH. As much as I liked the old name, it was too close to a certain pokemon, which warranted a new name. So, she inherited the name of another character from the old comic. She’s still fairly young looking compared to her two partners, but now she’s got more of a rockin’ appearance than before.

I was getting a little agitated with the new page, so for a break, I decided to draw Rietch Scarce. :D Been sooo long since I drew this relentless reaper. He hasn’t undergone much redesign unlike the others, though I’m gonna have to design a new outfit for him (his former one with the belts and stripes needs updating). For now, it’s a black jacket and pants until I settle on a new outfit.

So now that I have to start working on the actual story, I need to make my first chapter’s title image look awesomesauce…

~__~ but what to do…

I‘m thinking about doing some OC prompts to practice a bit. Does anybody have any good suggestions for some?

Two versions of Page 26 are up! One with animated elements, the other without (for slow web browsers or mobile devices).

Prologue is now complete~! Horray~!!! I met my goal of finishing before Halloween~!

Now onto the actual story.

So Page 26 is mostly done… but I can’t decide if it would be worth the trouble animating stuff for a flashy intro… It would probably come across as obnoxious… or really cool, I don’t know.

So I’m currently working on page 25, which will hopefully be the final page of the prologue of Thief of Hearts. It’s also going to be made using a little bit of flash animation (make that subscription worth it yo) so it’ll all be awesome looking.

Here’s the thing; I was considering using music for the page… but I don’t think I can use the song I have in mind because it’s copyrighted… which is a shame because I listen to it all the time while I’m writing the story and thought it would fit perfectly…

Meh, I’ll probably leave it out. I’m drawing a comic not making an anime… and I’ll probably get a barrage of “NO MUSIC NOISE IS BAD WHERES THE OFF BUTTON!?” so it would probably be a good idea to leave it out… ~__~; darn.
