"this little girl who belongs to the family that runs china star is very sweet, like a social butterfly. she runs next door to happy cow and helps hands out coupons. she is only about 5 years old, and she is so kind. i dropped my change and she gasped and picked up every dime for me. she said she remembers me from happy cow, i don't know how. but i always remember her. but i had to try to keep myself from starting to cry, because i see such sweet children, especially young girls, and i worry for their future. i want them to live happily and love themselves, and as you grow older as a female, you're undermined and you're held to an impossible standard. in the media you're constantly compared to photoshopped figures, ridiculed if you don't fit a certain type. and this leads to self-loathing, eating disorders, things that are detrimental to your physical and mental health that could ultimately kill you. girls are treated as objects. she's at the age where curiosity is natural and accepting, but could also be discouraged by the world around her and i don't want girls to grow up that way. it has to stop. we need more strong women to be represented in the media for girls to look up to, i know growing up i struggled but i had my feminist aunt annette to encourage me to grow and know i am as capable" @icybeer (Kelsy) 2K16
