Smile, Smile, Smile! || Boops || Trial 3.2 || [Re: Handwriting, Attn: All]

#Chapter 3

The silence in the courtroom was a sad reminder of how much the student body dwindled since their first venture inside, and they found themself curling their fists as they hunched over the podium. Think, Boops, think. However, their best attempts at conjuring ideas to their mind were beset by Hiro’s words cutting through the haze, Hiro’s trademark words that Boops had grown so accustomed to, and served as an anchor of comfort. 

Wonderful words asking for handwriting. That, they could do!

…They only hoped they were able to believe what they had written down. Idly, Boops looked up at the others standing there, before their face scrunched up… and then, they beamed brightly in such a way that it seemed they might have very well figured out how to turn lead to gold.

“…Ya think they killed each other?”

Or not. But was it improbable? They had no idea, but it was still the most sensible of the options running through their mind - even if no consensus was reached.

There's No Place Like Home, There's No Place Like Home- || Boops || Trial 3.1 || [Re: Hiro]

#chapter 3

The longer Boops was without their crutches, the more they regretted not deciding to purchase a cane as a backup when they had the chance. Now, the outside world was another layer farther away from being accessed as the doors to the elevator shut, and the great metal cage rumbled down to deliver them to their fate.

Melodramatic? Absolutely, but this was Boops Boops. Everything was a stage upon which they conducted their melodramatic performances. Right on cue a large, fat tear rolled down their cheek and splattered on the wood below. Two more lives were lost, two, and yet Boops felt nothing. Actually, that was a lie - but dozens of emotions unable to have a name put to them knotted up certainly felt like nothing.

But there was no denying that a killer was on the loose. Among the remaining students, any one might be harboring intentions they had no knowledge of. Like the kind Daiki, like their… acquaintence Keiko. There was a word for it in English - frenemy - wasn’t there? It was the type of slang common among the high school and college crowd back home. Where fighting with one’s friend was expected… or enemyhood led to friendship.

They weren’t in California any more, though. They were here, in the courtroom, trying to solve two murders. Someone talked. Boops listened.

“Yah… what ya said.”

More effort was needed.

“I mean, I guess I need ta put my thoughts in order, one sec…”

The radio star paused, putting their hands up to their temples as their forehead scrunched, resembling an attempt to telekinetically levitate the podium in front of them. Of course, nothing like that happened.

“Yah…. I investigated, and found that there was… a note? In Hitoshi-san’s pocket. Nya… I checked Katsuya-san’s room and found that there was, er, nothin’ there ta see.. Twas kinda what ya’d expect, in all honesty. Didn’t think ta check ta see if the handwritin’ was ta same.”

Brushing hair from their face, Boops recalled back.

“But I dunno what ta origin of ta note is… Was feelin’ kinda bad, actually. Durin’ investigation. Anyways yah, Hi-hiro said it best, ta chocolates were made durin’ the bakin’ competition. I guess… Does anyone remember makin’ chocolates? Or seein’ anyone make ‘em?”

[CHAPTER 3] Trial Start

“Ahem! A reminder of what to do! You guy’s votes will determine the outcome of the trial! You’ll have to put a vote of who you think’s the King, and whether or not you’d like to Exile them, or Execute them as punishment.”

“Whether or not you pick the right King, whoever you choose will have to go through the chosen punishment. Should you pick the wrong King, the real King will be outed, and the scapegoat will either get to leave the compound or die - whichever you guys chose!”

“This is a particularly complex case, so lets start off with a topic; the method to kill Kita-kun and Takegetsu-kun! Get on it!”

[CHAPTER 3] Part 2.

So here you were, standing together once again. Perhaps some had hoped that the recent deaths in the past few weeks would deter you all from the ride in the elevator. The jitters and creaks of the elevator are no longer jarring, though do they do give some a slight jump. Perhaps in the coming weeks, perhaps even days, you would finally grow accustomed to the trial process.

You would finally grow accustomed to losing your classmates one by one.

You push that thought out of your head – No, that wouldn’t be right. You would never grow used to this - you refuse to get used to this. Somehow, you know that you will continue living, and to see the outside world one day. For now, you remain in this gilded cage of a facility.

The elevator doors creak open, and there sits Monobear on his throne; greeting you with a chuckle and wave. You step forth,

Hoping that you’ll succeed in finding the wolf amongst you once more. But you know what they say;

third time’s the charm.

[CHAPTER THREE] Part 1.

Walking to the usual meeting place, you see that black and white bear walking back and forth, giggling to himself.

“Upupu! Uwaa, is this what a father feels like when his kid hits a homerun? Is this what a father feels like when his kid becomes a successful serial killer? My heart is pounding so much! You really knocked it out of the park this time, my King!”

“Upupu! I’m so proud of my cubs, very proud indeed– … Why are you looking at me like that?”

The fact that your captor just referred to you as his technical children caused you to grimace, something he took note of. As usual though, you decide to ignore him.

“Hmph! Well, I guess you’re all in that phase - not wanting to acknowledge my best efforts to keep you happy! I can tell you’re probably bored of me babbling, but cut a bear some slack for wanting to bond with you guys! But… I guess we’re about to have a lot of quality time together.”

On cue, the elevator appears and shifts it’s doors open, creaking with every slight movement. Monokuma extends his paw, inviting you to enter the compartment. You and your friends, remembering what’s about to happen, shuffle in.

“Welp! Happy Trials! I’ll see you on the flip side, upupu!”

The door closes, and together, you descend.

[CHAPTER THREE] Announcement

“Hey hey! It’s that time again! Did you look hard? Whatever - I don’t care. Hustle down to the elevator in Warehouse 1 - the trial is about to start, so let’s boogey!”

Boops goes up to Monobear, holding a plate with pastries on it. That's how it was done, right? Nevertheless, he offers them for perusal, whereupon it can be noted that they look an awful lot like those Slimer pies from the 90's, down to the green-and-black colourscheme. Huh.

“…. Um… Are you trying to kill me?”

“Cause if so, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t flattered! Upupu~ good effort, kid!”

The bear takes one goo-colored pastry, stuffing it whole into his mouth - unaffected.

Between the form of the SHSL Auctioneer, Katsuya Takegetsu, sprawled out in blood, to the SHSL Comedian, Hitoshi Kita, being gently cradled by the ebbing waves of a low tide; these peaceful days of shared hope couldn’t have ended in such a heartless way. Slowly, like floating in the ocean, only to sink into the depths, you realized something. No more would you see the cocky, confident smile of Katsuya - teasing you, no more would you see the amused, smug glow of Hitoshi’s eyes upon you.

They were gone, plain and simple.

Two more of your friends were gone, and there was nothing you could ever do to get them back.

“Wahey! It’s a double whammy!”

As if the situation wasn’t bad enough, Monokuma’s voice booms behind the crowd of bewildered students. Like the red sea, you and your friends part as the bear marches to the front; harshly laughing all the way.

“Upupu! Oh boy, did I have a ton of fun watching these deaths unfold! Our pretty boy and clown boy! What a waste of beautiful faces, but I can’t deny the heart-pounding rush of their deaths!!”

“Well! You’ve done this enough times now to know what’s up! Go ahead! Get wild! Get the killer and get them killed! Or throw them out to the mob again if you like, upupu! Happy investigatin’!”

A place of gentle waves and sun bright skies should’ve been the last place for tragedy to rear it’s ugly head, the second time in a row …

A morning therapy session gone horribly wrong; Ryoko Mori and Mutsumi Morishibe stumbled upon unexpected - or rather, by this point, completely expected, despairing developments. A hall scented with iron with a body on the ground, sprawled out - immediately obvious and unhidden.

However, passing that and peering into the beach, lay a second stunning revelation. No time was wasted as Ryoko ran to signal the others, Mutsumi keeping guard of the scene. Before Ryoko could even get far from the body by the waves, a familiar announcement sounds off once more …
