Hi! I'm Echo. For one reason or another, my taste in video games is near exclusively franchises that pre-date 2010 and boomer shooters. Friends know me as the resident Valve nerd. Here's where I'll go to talk about these things- at length!

As it stands right now, my favorite game is Deus Ex (2000) with Black Mesa close on its heels. My favorite game franchise however, is the Half-Life series.

I've also sunk a good chunk of my life into Portal, TF2 (Scout main!), DOOM, assorted Half-Life and Portal mods, OneShot, and Marvel Rivals (check my comics blog, if interested).

I'm an artist, a writer, and a voice actor. I love narrative analysis and may have spent a little too much time surfing fandom Wikipedia pages.

For the most part, this blog will probably be art or my shitposts. Everything should hopefully be tagged appropriately.

my interpretation of adrian has changed a lot over the past few years and i want to clarify that i do see him as somewhat morally gray. as the player, we control his actions and we decide whether or not he takes part in silencing the black mesa facility. this simple fact renders any moral evaluation of his character moot, and unlike gordon who is constantly being told where to go and what to do, adrian’s game is 100% survival. there’s no grand plan that’s later revealed to him, his only motive is to escape

#there's always the “he never got the orders to silence the facility” thing which is kind of a cop out #yk with the “play as the enemy” marketing but i like him anyways #he doesn't need to be evil if you don't want him to be and i think it's interesting actually to give the HECU another dimension #(one of the things i really like about black mesa)#but he can be if you want him to be and i think that's interesting also #of course then you get stuff like black mesa: military or. god forbid fucking hdtf.#idk that's the beauty of half-life and silent protagonists. project as much as you fuckin want #it's awesome

i know that gordon's glasses in opposing force look they way they do because valve and/or gearbox couldn't make lenses translucent, however i like to imagine it's actually because we're playing as adrian and from his perspective gordon is like a duke nukem style action hero, so he's imagining gordon with some sick ass shades
