Designing Thinko HQ
We’re reworking the camera for OK, Dracula. The goal is to frame the entire kick trajectory in view. What we’re really looking for is a bounding box containing the path for the hardest kick you can do.
First, we find a Rect containing the highest, lowest, left-most, and right-most points of the line.
Then, we add some padding around the edges and update the camera to contain the bounding box.
Up next: ensuring the bounding box also includes the lowest ground point, so you’re able to see the entire ground along the entire kick path (see above, where the gulley is clipped).
We’re wrapping up a project for a client, an animated short that’s roughly 20 minutes in length. Pasquale asked for help taking the frame sequences for each shot and rendering them into individual lossless video files.
There’s over 30,000 frames, so I wrote a few bash scripts to iterate over the folders, fix the filenames, and ultimately use ffmpeg to render them out.
Check out the code if you’re curious how it works!
Log 1
This is our first log entry. We aim to be as transparent about our new company as possible.
Thinko was established on Halloween, in 2016. We’ve been working out of our apartments as we’ve been getting the company up and running. It’s entirely bootstrapped, so we can remain in control. Thinko is trying to stay away from the chaos of Venture Capital.
2 days ago, I came back from Amsterdam, after being stranded there for ~2 weeks, on a nonsensical embassy trip. American visas are irrationally complicated and time consuming to handle. Luckily, we work with an amazing attorney. If you need one, let us know.
Today, me & @jacob did yet another day of studio space scouting. We’re aiming to setup Thinko’s first studio space in Brooklyn, NY. We think we found the one!
