Reunion [Hayner&Ven]

He couldn’t shake that feeling of familiarity in his chest-- there were memories that weren’t his associated with this place. They belonged to a part of him that had been torn away, only to be returned when he was woken up.

It was irritating to find out that Lea had gotten so old in his absence. It left him wondering if there was a place for him now-- ten years was a long time to be asleep. Ten whole years. 

Still, he had a mission to complete. Fend off the heartless and finally achieve his Mark of Mastery. So he followed his heart and ended up in this world-- Twilight Town. It seemed so peaceful. Could darkness really have infected such a lovely place? If it had, he’d be there to handle it. He was finally whole.

These memories felt foreign to him. They were his but at the same time-- He’d been a different person. That world he’d been in was an illusion. The ties he felt to this world were artificial. Did that make them any less real? Ventus had to accept that Roxas was a part of him--

“Wha! Hey!” He sputtered a moment, bent over thanks to the height difference. Grumbling as he fixed his hood again and shook his hair out, giving Roxas a huff. “What was that for?”

Though the moment his gaze came back to the blond he raised an eyebrow. Ah, someone was already set on a mission. No stopping the kid when he was like that.

“If you don’t hide completely they’ll find us.” He retorted curtly, once more reaching up to tug that hood over his head. The blond couldn’t keep himself from worrying-- he had been through hell to see Lea again, and he wasn’t about to lose him. No. They were all going to be reunited and he was going to give all he had to see that through.

“Or do you want the Organization breathing down the back of our necks again?”

The Connection

Roxas and Ventus are connected.

Connected in an intimate way.

Roxas is the true heart of Ventus-- once he joined with Vanitas and spent years healing inside Sora. The reason Roxas looks like Ven is simply because he is Ven-- without any of his memories.

In order to prevent Ven from truly awakening, Xemnas and others in the Organization insist on reminding Roxas of his connection to Sora. But he’s not truly Sora’s nobody-- granted he was influenced by Sora’s heart, but his true original self isn’t Sora. It never was.

Perhaps Xemnas figured that out and sought to reclaim the lost vessel-- Ventus would be much more obedient without memories of his own to go on. Yet his defiant nature remained, his desire and drive to seek out a lost friend drove him away from the Organization and ultimately led him back on the path to becoming truly whole.

When he next awoke he was himself again. Though the name Roxas is still one he’ll respond to, he prefers to be called Ven.

That was Xemnas--- walking right toward him wasn’t it? Had he done something wrong? Was it about Xion? The male stiffened as the Superior drew closer, not even breathing out of sheer intimidation. Was he supposed to salute or something? As far as he could recall this was the first time their paths crossed since he had begun to work with Xion.

Right. He’d just wait to be addressed. Roxas stepped to the side of the hall, hoping that Xemnas would simply pass him by.
