Just over 3 months, and we’re back in VA. It’s weird knowing I’ll be in one place for a while, but at least the view is nice. Thanks to everyone who hosted and helped on the journey 😘 🚍🌉🏝🏜🏔🏕🌃 https://www.instagram.com/p/BphjRiGFk9F6k-jooEpxrKcwbc3kW6m7tNnTNo0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fpeffmjo8iik
The universe is magical. Glad to be in New Orleans the same time as this dude. This city has that kind of power 🔮 💀 🌟 💜 🍻 (at Sidney's Saloon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpOIK4SFWnpgPsPCI5CK6dIZYXk8E1jHCIZ-bg0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=r4jg0ypp63oq
We were in Austin. A lot more happened than just going to the green belt, but I was in no state of mind to take pictures of it. If you were there, you know we had fun @whyelle_e_belle @bummertownband @grimikins @emmichang @caraadelle love you fools so much. Thanks for a wonderful time xoxox (at Austin, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpLwdWOlpvaKGb45FKaSVl5j9nsLf7sxbllLCM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1gxlrrlrgf3f3
White Sands was other worldly. Massive dunes of gypsum rolled out to a horizon scratched with the silhouetted peaks of the San Andres Mountains. The sun was shining and a slight breeze was blowing, and the sand was cool as were walking. A big recommendation for this epic park. Also, the night pic was our BLM parking spot. Reflection and colors were cool, but it was a gross lake tainted by missile testing and army experiments ... I think I finally recovered from the whirlwind wedding weekend of #timetotitone nothing better than seeing some of my favorite people all in one place. Love you guys https://www.instagram.com/p/Boe6aeenFKeXaE5Sn9jM2bNdFUT_0aeN_uWXuw0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ppo0jiw2nmqi
Having lunch nearly 3000 feet up overlooking Zion Canyon. This park was beautiful. It’s been the best national park we’ve visited so far with clearly marked trails, an effective shuttle system, a sustainably built visitor center, and incredible trails. Lemme know when you plan your trip, I want to go back. (at Observation Point) https://www.instagram.com/p/Boe5Im1nJ33eJoSTs4W1LWmtiZe7j7m_IhRTG40/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wlsy6sj9bvtl
We were all kinds of lucky to get a permit to hike the subway at Zion. Only 12 permits go out a day, but someone cancelled when we arrived. After descending nearly 1500 ft, you walk along/across a riparian environment with wildflowers, sandstone, mini waterfalls, decorating the view. The trail is called the subway because of how curved the canyon walls are at the end of the trail. It’s astounding how powerful the erosive force of water is. It’s been a while since I’ve actually written about what we’re doing. Cara and meg are yoga, so I have some time ... we left Denver two days ago. Now we’re in Moab. It’s a small town about 10 minutes outside of Arches National Park. Last night we had a picnic dinner of salmon, asparagus, and salad as we sent Megs husband off on a Colorado River adventure. Today, Cara and I actually got to explore Arches. Even though the desert is my least favorite biome, this was an excellent park. Despite the 95 degree day, a solid breeze kept it bearable through out our hikes. The formations of Navajo Sandstone are mind boggling. Sitting atop an ancient salt bed, the rock weakens. Water slips and drips into cracks, crevices, and the generally porous surface of the sandstone. Heating, cooling, expansion, and contraction causes further weaknesses in the stone. When pieces break off ... boom! Arch. Though it was cooling, the wind blew sand to tear at our legs and eyes. But you know what they say, “exfoliation, it’s flesh erosion” (at Arches National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnpUpm8lFzlLMM4zrorowjXen4xP5i1rZNy_A00/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=b38yv208kk84
