see this picture? these are my parents. 35 years of marriage, 5 kids, & 6 grandkids later, here they are. they’re complete opposites, with my dad being way more laid back than my mom. sometimes they have arguments, yelling at each other, & saying stupid shit, but they still act like teenagers. they dance, no matter where they are, every time their wedding song comes on. they’re affectionate all the time, & they hold hands wherever they go out. they’ve been married since they were in their late teens & early 20s, but they’re still here. they’re still together, & they’re still in love. so even though i’ve been screwed over by so many people in my life, this relationship is the only reason that i still have some shred of hope & faith left. they started with nothing, and built an entire life, family, & future together. this is a rarity these days, but this is what i strive for. this is always what i’ve strived for. i grew up surrounded by real love, & i will never settle for less.
