Harmony allowed her silhouette to linger for a moment in the door. It was just long enough to give Finn a warning, a chance to snuff out the joint before his mother got closer. Harmony knew, but she was trying not to smother him. The smell turned her stomach and agitated Finn's little sisters. She steeled herself, closed her robe, picked up her cups, and finally stepped outside. The tea in her hand was warm. Harmony handed one to Finn, not giving him room to deny it. She looked up at her boy, who was now heads above her. ❝Hey, baby,❞ Harmony murmured, blues made stormy by the questions she bit back. ❝It's chamomile and honey.❞

The moment he noticed someone moving towards him from the corner of his eyes, he pressed the lit tip of his joint against the paneling on the house. Shoving his hands- and by default, the rest of his joint- into his pockets, he offered a faint smile towards the woman as she came outside with him.

Finn cradled the mug in his hands with a soft thank you, though, he really didn't have any interest in drinking it.

He just wanted to be alone, smoke a bit, and relive some of the moments with the Grabber, just as he did every other night before bed. He found that if he at least confronted his assailant before bed, he had fewer nightmares. At least, he told himself that's what happened.

It was easier having that ritual, regardless.

"Can't sleep?" he inquired conversationally as he moved over so his mom could lean against the wall, too.

Sipping her tea helped with the nausea brought on by the sharp smell of the weed. Harmony accepted her son's invitation to stand with him, arm brushing his as she settled into place. Finney was still her boy. She just wished that she could help fill the chasm of anger and pain she knew existed in him now. It had cracked open in him when he came back to her, after that time he spent in the Grabber's basement, and Harmony saw it widening in his eyes every day. No amount of therapy ( or fighting ) seemed to close it.

By God, at least he never shut her out completely. She would always be her kids' best friend, even when they were hurting ; there was comfort in that.

Harmony realized then she was too quiet. ❝I'm sorry,❞ she said softly, clearing her throat. Her head leaned back, eyes closing for a moment. Almost all of her hair was that pretty pale silver. It suited her, perhaps more so than the blonde she had when he was a child. The bottom of her cup rested briefly on top of her belly. ❝Gwenny was sleep - walking. I tucked her in, tried to check on you, and, well ...❞ Harmony's blues cracked open, staring up at him. ❝Every child in this house is restless tonight. One of you I could get back to bed. These two are taking well to the tea.❞ Harmony's fingertips touched her robe. ❝They're upset, I think ; they're running out of room.❞

Her unspoken question lingered between them : what could she do to help her fourth ?

❝You have your people,❞ Harmony said softly in reply, as if that summed up everything. ( and maybe it did. ) ❝I know.❞ Her nails dug into the scales of his armor nonetheless.

Harmony understood that Hiccup was an important figure, both to his home of Berk and many individuals beyond it. An entire world depended on him. For Harmony, who had been cast out of her tribe long ago, the thought of such a responsibility was staggering.

A bitterness welled up in her then, and she pressed herself tighter to him. Hiccup had so much to bear in his life already — what right did she have to add to it ? speaking about how she was in pain and missed him when he was bound to protect an entire village ...

Were she a better woman, perhaps she would have been ashamed of the desperation that was painted across her face as she lifted it to kiss him. Harmony's hands slid upwards until they reached his neck. She used her fingers to guide him down to her ; standing on the tips of her boots could only erase some of the distance. Harmony broke away when her chest felt like it was going to burst from lack of air, though she remained close. Unshed tears glittered on her eyes.

❝You're here,❞ Harmony whispered, breath still warm against his lips. ❝That is all that matters, Hiccup. It doesn't hurt anymore.❞ Selfish, selfish, selfish. ❝Come inside ... I have tea and supper started.❞

the truth is, he hadn't even noticed the blood seeping through and staining his side. it had been far from his mind, so wrapped up as he was in the task at hand. arthur had been out in the field with her horses, pitching hay over the fence and then working on repairing said fence. there are a couple of weak spots, broken posts and the like ; nothing that her employees couldn't fix, but ... he had to earn his keep around here somehow.

still, when she speaks, the outlaw's attention shifts. blue eyes flicker from the fence post to the lady of the house, and then back down to his side. sure enough, the bandage wrapped around his torso is slowly turning bright red again. a sign of pulled stitches, for sure.

“ ah, damn, ” he curses, shaking his head. “ that's just great. ”

the tools in his hand fall to the ground, dropped with perhaps a bit more force than necessary. if it were up to him, this wouldn't necessarily be a deterrent from finishing his job, but with the keen, watchful eye of harmony cobel trained upon him, it is probably for the best that he take a break.

arthur then leaned against the fence, hand reaching into his pants pocket and withdrawing a pack of cigarettes and a match. one cigarette goes between his lips, another held out towards harmony. if he's got to take a break, there might as well be something to pass the time.

Harmony had been staring at Arthur for some time now — long enough to see and appreciate how hard he was working ( as well as admire the obvious strength he possessed, even injured still ). God above, what a fool of a woman she was becoming, loitering on her property just to stare at the renegade most called her mad for keeping here. She would have chased out any members of her staff who behaved the same as herself recently. How rich.

Nevertheless, Harmony accepted the cigarette, drew a match from her own book to light it ( obstinate as ever ), and drew in a deep breath. The pungent taste calmed her. With a light huff, she hung her hat and bag on the nearest post.

There was no question of permission asked. Harmony tugged up Arthur's shirt to inspect the bandages, cigarette between her teeth. Her bright blues narrowed. A breeze tossed the few waves of her hair that managed to escape her braid on the ride out. Harmony's palm pressed to the cloth, observing where the blood welled up beneath it with firm pressure.

❝Sit,❞ she finally said, stepping back. Harmony shook her head in both amusement and frustration. There was something fond about it, though ... too fond for her liking. ❝I need to take that off 'n have a proper look. You'll need more thread — at the very least, a new wrap.❞

Finney sobbed into his mother's chest, clinging to the fabric of her pajamas as he finally stopped fighting against her warm yet solid hold on him. He hadn't realized he had be crying out in his sleep, thrashing beneath his blankets as the nightmare engulfed him- at least, not until his mom managed to rouse him from the terrors.

When he'd calmed down, he'd check his mom to make sure he didn't accidentally hurt her in her quest to rescue him from the echo of horrors he'd already endured.

In the meantime, though, the only thing that was on his mind was what he'd managed to escape physically.

"What if he comes back?" he wailed, warm tears staining the fabric he seemingly was attempting to burrow into. "What if he finds me again!?"

Harmony wrapped an arm behind Finney's back. She used her free hand to grab his legs and pull as much of him into her lap as she was able to. When had he gotten so big ... ?

❝Come here, baby,❞ she said. Her voice was soft but firm. Harmony rocked back and then forward again gently. ❝It's just us, Finney — it's just us.❞ She tucked his head underneath her chin. Harmony's blue eyes unfocused on the pale wall of Finney's bedroom ahead of her.

❝He's not here. There's only me, and you, and Gwenny's asleep in her bed.❞ It tore her up inside, hearing how broken he was. — but Harmony had known from the moment she saw him after his rescue this would never be over for him. A part of him was forever trapped in that basement. All she could do was comfort what was left that emerged from that blackness, now held in the safest place she knew. ❝I have you, baby. I have you. I promise ... you will not get hurt again. By him or anyone else.❞

What a foolish statement from the woman who wasn't there before, when he needed her. That needling thought twisted up Harmony's insides.

❝I won't let him come back, Finney.❞

"Happy Father's Day, Mom," Finney uttered gently before leaning up and pressing a loving kiss to her cheek. Even though he'd had a father, he'd been gone for quite some time now. He loved him- of course he loved him, even despite his demons- but he'd drank himself to death. And even if Harmony wasn't his or Gwen's biological Mom, they loved her like one anyway.

❝Hm ?❞ Harmony looked over at Finney's voice. The sentiment registered when she received the kiss on her cheek. She chuckled, and the bridge of her nose scrunched up. Harmony ducked down to press one to the top of his curls in return. If her hands weren't full mixing the icing base for the ( chamomile - flavored ) cookies laid out in front of them, she would have seized him affectionately. Her ponytail swished against the side of Finney's head.

❝Thank you,❞ she replied softly. ❝I'm proud to be yours — your mother, too, especially.❞ Harmony wasn't sure if what she said made sense, but the thought was there. Every day, she thought about it : how lucky she was to have Finney and Gwen with her.

She bumped into his shoulder gently. ❝Now, are these going to finish themselves ? I have vanilla here in the bowl ... we could add something. There are oranges in the refrigerator — or the lavender I picked.❞ Harmony raised a brow at Finney as her spoon slowed. ❝What do you want, baby ?❞ The smears of flour on her chin were highlighted when she captured her lower lip in her teeth thoughtfully.

Finney wanted nothing more than to wake up from this never-ending nightmare. Sure, he had gotten out, but with all of the questioning from detectives and police, the swarm of people crowding the street to find out what was going on, and watching the exhumed bodies of the boys who were before him- of his friends- being transported from the basement of the house across the street into the backs of the ambulances, it had all been too much.

And the worst thing Finney had to stomach- the worst part of it all- were the constant strings of are you okay? from everybody he came across.

How could I be okay!? he wanted to scream each and every time. How could I be okay when my best friend was murdered, I was kidnapped, I watched someone get an axe to the head, and I just killed someone?!

But he didn't.

Each time he just smiled politely and nodded.

And when he was finally home with his family, he was grateful for the calm. He could finally go a bit numb and just shut his mind off.

But then bedtime came and he realized, for the first time since he escaped, he'd be alone.

Gulping thickly, Finney looked at his mom, finally offering a soft, "You like that late show, right? I was wondering if I could watch it with you."

Please don't leave me alone.

Harmony let out a breath and nodded. Her hair moved around her shoulders with the motion. Since Finney's disappearance, more of it had turned gray. There were fine lines etched into the dark circles under her eyes. It seemed that she had aged considerably in such a short time — but, then again, hadn't he ? Harmony could see the change in him.

She slid her hand down to her son's shoulder and pulled him in closer. Harmony kissed the top of his head, much like she had just done with Gwen, and swallowed past a sudden lump in her throat.

With a low hum, she looped her arm around Finney. ❝Of course,❞ she replied, voice equally as soft. ❝Let's cheat for tonight. We can put it on the set in my room.❞ Her laugh was as loud and abrupt as ever, even if it was notably strained.

You can stay as long as you need, Harmony offered silently. The promise of her embrace, the warmth of her bed, and the time they would spend together was extended, too. A hand rubbed his upper arm soothingly.

Harmony steered him gently toward her bedroom then. It was painted a soothing blue and full of antique wicker furniture. She had picked these items because they reminded her of the sea that she grew up by, she always claimed. There were plants on every available surface. Two monstrous potted spider ivies were crawling from the window sill. The room smelled strongly like the jasmine blooming on her bedside table ( as Harmony herself often did ).

She stopped long enough to turn on the television set and grab its remote. Harmony released her son in order to slide beneath the covers. ❝Come here, Finney.❞ Her palm patted the bed.

Harmony took extra time tucking Gwen in. She squeezed the girl tight, kissed her hair, and thanked her for how brave she had been. Gwen shed new tears, buried in her stepmother's arms. It wasn't until she cried herself to sleep, relieved and crushed all at once, that Harmony let her fall back into her bed. The covers were pulled up over her slowly.

As she closed Gwen's door, Harmony sniffed. She swiped at her face, desperate to stop the sting in her eyes — but it came back even stronger whenever she saw Finn standing in the hallway.

❝Hey, baby.❞ Harmony breathed out the words, words she always believed she would say again. She smiled, though her bottom lip trembled, and stepped closer. It was his first night home. Now that all of the gawking policeman and medics were gone, it could just be the three of them. No more exhausting interviews for her son or idiots looking for a promotion by claiming her daughter's efforts for their own.

A hand touched the side of Finn's head gently. ❝Do you need anything else to eat ? or do you want to go to bed ?❞ Harmony's fingertips trailed over one of his bandaged cuts, and she swallowed back a sudden sob. ❝I'm here for you ...❞

Harmony grumbled. She had tried to explain it using their usual method but found she lacked the means to do so well. Suddenly, the huntress began to strip in Mark's living room. Heavy pieces of armor and bits of decorative cloth hit the floor unceremoniously. Only her helmet was set aside with care. Once she was satisfied, the Yautja faced Mark again. Silver tendrils slipped around her shoulders, shining with the bits of metal and bone that commemorated her many grand hunts.

A large hand enveloped Mark's. Harmony clicked slowly as she brought his fingers toward her torso. She pressed their conjoined touch firmly against her lower belly, which was noticeably distended. Harmony pushed hard on that swell. Her vocalizations sharpened, as if the motion hurt, but Harmony continued. Beneath her soft - scaled abdomen was the evidence of the eggs she carried — and, with enough force, she was able to draw Mark's fingertips across the outline of them.

[ YOURS, ] the translator strapped to her forearm said. As much as she hated to use the little device, there were instances where it helped. Harmony released the pressure, and her breathing eased. She left Mark's palm there ( to be moved at his leisure ).

Harmony lowered her head and bumped her brow against Mark's. [ I AM HEAVY WITH WHAT IS YOURS ... ] click, click. Her utterances were slow, almost soft for the creature. The huntress grabbed Mark by the hips and tugged him close. [ YOURS TO SEED AND CLAIM. MY MATE. ]

As he listened to his beloved, Steven couldn't help the fond smile that settled upon his features. He turned his head to press his ear and cheek against her belly, as if to hear and feel their hidden, little treasure. Though, he was certain as to not move so much or so quickly that her fingers were no longer in his hair. Steven was a glutton for such a gesture, after all.

"Healthy is a good thing to want, innit?" he agreed, reaching a hand up to hook his pointer finger around one of Harmony's.

"I'll be happy regardless, so long as our child is happy and healthy," Steven began, a dreamy glint twinkling in his eyes. "Though, I'd love a little girl. Someone to play dolls and dress-up with. Put little pink bows in her hair. Have tea time with scones and little sandwiches with her every day."

Turning his head upwards to meet his wife's shining blue eyes, a different type of sincerity replaces the twinkle in his dark hues. "And with you for a mum, she'll be so strong. No one will ever hurt her or take advantage of her. Smart as a whip, too.

"She'll be the most perfect little angel anyone could ever hope for."

Harmony continued to stroke Steven's hair while he talked. Her fingers moved through those beautiful, thick curls slowly. When he mentioned the attributes that their little girl could inherit from her, Harmony couldn't help but chuckle fondly. It made her belly shake against Steven's cheek, and their baby responded to by nudging at their father.

Her father, Harmony thought, lifting her hand to rub at the side of her stomach. Steven's vision was indeed a beautiful one. The thought of a little girl tucked up in his lap and babbling about her day while he did her hair was sweet. Something moved beneath her palm. Harmony glanced down instinctively — and a suspicion she had been harboring for weeks became confirmed all at once. It had never happened in unison like this before.

❝Steven.❞ Harmony's hand slid down to cup the base of his skull. Her other reached for his fingers and brought them to her stomach. When had she started shaking ? Harmony swallowed past the sudden lump in her throat and forced a thin smile for his sake. ❝I have felt this ... strangeness in me since our daughter started kicking, but I assumed it was just nerves.❞

Harmony and Steven's conjoined touch shifted at a gentle shove from their child — who was also still prodding where Steven left. Either this baby was far, far larger than it should have been, or ...

Her eyes welled up with tears, and Harmony gasped. A curtain of silver hair slipped over her shoulders as she looked at Steven. ❝I think your little angel is bringing a brother or sister with her.❞

It was only with Harmony that Gavin truly began to understand the weight of devotion. What he thought was love was juvenile, romanticised—love was the way that Harmony pressed into him so intensely they might as well be one. Love was the sound of her breathing, and the slight raggedness in her tone, and the stillness of her as Gavin licked the sinew of her neck and gently bit the corner of her jaw.

The thought of teasing his love came and went. When did she ever ask for anything as explicitly as she did now? Gavin’s hand lifted briefly to Harmony’s lips to wet his fingers with her spit, then dipped past the garter of her waistband. ❝Did it ever really hurt ?❞ Harmony countered softly. Under his hands, her body moved eagerly ; her spine arched enough to push her breast further into Gavin's touch. Harmony allowed her eyes to close as she soaked him in — shit, it was almost overwhelming. The smell of him around her, the alluring voice in her ear, the feeling of him teasing her most sensitive places.

Harmony's tongue swiped over her lower lip. ❝There was only joy, Gavin ... even when you cut me. Especially then.❞ She gasped and whimpered when her hips shifted over his lap. Harmony fancied that she could hear how wet she became as his fingers continued to indulge her, setting off an electric current that ran up through the entirety of her. ❝Our children are perfect, and you are perfect, and ...❞

Her fingers slid down her front and laid on top of his briefly. Harmony pushed gently at Gavin's hand, encouraging him forward. Deeper. Inside, if he would humor her. It was selfish of her to demand such things, and she silently invited him to reprimand her for it if he desired. She was amazed that she hadn't soaked through her shorts and onto his pants by now — and, fuck, wouldn't it be amazing if she did ? What better proof was there that she adored him so much that she was physically desperate for him ? Would he like that ?

Harmony allowed her gaze to open just enough to look at her own situation. The sight of her aching figure tangled up in Gavin's limbs made her moan, low and soft. ❝Please. Do whatever you want, I — you can cut me again, if that would mean your hands were inside. I have to be ... one with you. Any way.❞

[ ALONE ]  for sender to show up on receiver’s doorstep covered in blood.

Harmony's eyes flew open as the knocking on the front door reached her. She sat up, yawned, and reached for her robe. It was white, with details of seashells that she had sewn around the billowing sleeves. The gossamer fabric had a subtle glow in the gloom, much like her long silver hair ( strands of which floated around her shoulders, partially - curled from the braids they had been in earlier ).

With a puzzled expression, Harmony walked through the house. She turned on the light, boosted herself up to look through the peephole, and audibly gasped. Was that — Steven ? from the Perpetuity Wing ? Harmony rubbed the sleep out of her eyes before she glanced again.

It was him. Covered in blood. Evidently panicked. Lifting his hand to knock once more. Harmony narrowed her gaze. The slew of scarlet across him did not disturb her as much as it should have. What struck her instead was his expression ... so much fear in such usually kind eyes. That turned her stomach in a way she hadn't expected, and a fingertip touched over the peephole.

Harmony would never be able to say if it was pity, or curiosity, or affection that made her open the door. She appeared suddenly before Steven, a vision in oceanic colors. There was something soft about Harmony outside of those walls — she was human here.

❝Steven,❞ Harmony said, lips hovering open. One hand held the door while the other pulled him in and guided him against the wall. She wanted to ask so many questions, including how he knew where she lived, but refrained. Her fingers seized his chin as the door closed behind them. ❝Steven ... shit, you're a mess. What happened ?❞

The figure of the witch was lithe and delicate comparatively to most humans - before Harmony, the contrast was even more powerful. Even so, there was nothing but a pleased humming sound from painted lips when the yautja brought her into an embrace, the cold hands from the woman finding good resting spots over the other female's shoulders.

That close, the brunette allowed eyelids to flutter close, emjoying Harmony's unique language. As much as she adored the inhuman, animalistic clicking sounds, Melissa was unable to even imitate that type of vocalization; speaking directly into her mind was helpful and made her the official interpreter for family gatherings, but the witch was appreciative of Harmony's true biology.

The tongue dragging over her neck made Melissa sigh; even if a regular bystander would be horrified and likely to assume that the creature would bite her head off, the witch was safe and content. It was a loving, intimate gesture that made her delighted; the fluttering of the pulse (despite the witch's skin never going too hot) was evidence of the pleasure derived by the human from that touch.

'You know they will welcome you with open arms, my beloved huntress,' the brunette whispered again into their bond, instinctively reacting to the touch along her back - the gowns that Melissa favored, as did her twin, were very much unable to hide her torso and curves - they snug her skin, only changing shape over arms and legs to create the illusion of a woman who seemed to levitate rather walk the grounds she stepped on. The long, flawless dark hair fell over Harmony's limbs like a curtain, shielding part of their embrace from view.

'I won't claim to be unhappy that I get you for myself for tonight. I can be a selfish soul sometimes,' Melissa joked, one of her hands moving to brush over Hecate's symbol on Harmony's chest: the three moons, symbolizing the maiden, the mother and the crone. It had moved the witch to tears when the yautja adopted that as part of her usual uniform; in exchange for that particular night, she had dressed in dark greys and blues rather than black, owning her beloved's colors as part of herself.

Melissa's left palm then moved to the dreadlocks - the touch was delicate, reverential; everything about Harmony deserved respect and admiration and it showed in how her manicured nails handled them with gentleness, ensuring to keep their physical bond unbroken at all times. 'Are you tired from the journey? Or did you have plans for before sunrise, my moonlight traveler?'

Harmony shifted away from Melissa just enough to look at her, seemingly satisfied with how she had greeted her mate. A hand slid up Melissa's back again, though this was more teasing ; the tips of her claws moved slow until they reached Melissa's neck. Harmony cradled the witch's head. As always, she thought about how delicate her skull felt. Even the prey that the Yautja chased in her earliest memories ( after reclaiming her culture ) had been stronger than this.

[ I am weary. ] The admission was soft, even in their bond — Harmony was loathe to admit any physical weakness. [ ... but by the customs of my kind, I cannot rest here until I have been granted permission by your tribe. ] Never mind that the Addams ( and now Frump ) clan had welcomed the creature with both metaphorical and literal open arms since she first met Gomez as a young, hellish thing. For Harmony, her hunt was not yet over, and she could claim no true dwelling - place until tomorrow. She hoped that the Black Warrior would not summon her for stealing away these hours with her mate. It was selfish and wrong of her to carry on as she did here, but the spiritual guilt was worth seeing Melissa before her usual ceremonial request of the Addams.

[ You will come to my ship. ] Harmony's tendrils responded to Melissa's leisurely touch, smooth - surfaced appendages twitching upward. Asking to be petted more. The blue stone bands and metal trinkets that decorated them were beautiful.

The Yautja suddenly reached down, slid her right arm beneath the witch's knees, and drew Melissa up as if she weighed nothing. Dark fabric pooled across Harmony's armor and cascaded down her, enveloping her in the scent and feeling of the witch. Harmony bent her head, pressed the plate of her skull to Melissa's brow once more, and issued a laugh. It was a mimicry — and an uncannily perfect one of a quiet chuckle from the witch herself. Harmony was fond of it.

[ I will show you my spoils. ] The huntress clicked, and clicked, and clicked as she walked toward the vivarium door. Between their joint efforts, it was unlocked, opened, closed, and locked ; Harmony was mindful of Melissa's little ones and their safety. Her fingers touched Melissa's arm, keeping their connection. [ ... and you will remain with me. ] Another chuckle, another copy of the witch's alluring laugh. [ If I have strength, we will affirm our mating, and I will roar for you — or instead I will roar before your star appears. ]
