best blog ever!!! i'm very interested though, where exactly do you get all these images from? I saw you said you got them from the GDA picture vault, but I would love to know where **exactly** they came from and where the other pictures that weren't in the vault also came from
as well as other stuff... like interviews, videos, and such because I genuinely feel like it's impossible to find them anywhere else
i'd also love to know why the picture vault went down if it's not too much to ask aha
Glad you're enjoying it!
Recent gig photos have come from Green Day's social media and photographers who were at the shows. Photograpers' photos can be found in concert reviews, on their social media, and on their websites.
The older pics posted on here are a combination of stuff I (the GDA editor who runs this blog) saved from the picture vault and stuff from my personal archive. I've been collecting Green Day photos since I became a fan in the 00s, but I wasn't actually involved with the picture vault since I joined the team after it went down. I just started saving things in case anything happened to it. So I can't say for sure where it originally came from, but probably the same sources my stuff came from - the band's website, Idiot Club/Nation galleries, Getty Images, Alamy, individual photographers' websites, screenshots from videos, and magazines/other paper things I scanned, like bootleg booklets.
A LOT of stuff has 'fallen off' the internet. Like, there's so much Green Day lore that was once common knowledge, but the info is no longer online and there aren't many active fans who remember it, so now people look at me like potatoes are sprouting from my ears when I mention those things. Same with photos and videos.
You can sometimes find stuff using Wayback Machine if you have a link. I couldn't find a photo of the Dead Mermaids merch package from 2014, but because there was still a link to it in a GDC thread, I stuck that in Wayback Machine and found the photos.
The picture vault went down after GDA was sued by a photographer. Don't remember the exact amount but Andres had to pay him something like $2000.
