"Bob (Bengie) Powers, who grew up in Brooklyn in the nineteen-fifties, had his first drink at eight years old, stabbed someone at twelve, was out of school by sixteen, and was taking drugs at eighteen."
Bruce Davidson, photographed the street gang called the Jokers, of which Bengie was the leader. 40 years later, and fully reformed Bob got in touch with Bruce and they have collaborated together to publish 'Bobby's Book.'Â

.... Current Sitcom Character
I've just started watching 'Parks & Recreation', and the character of April Ludgate is brilliant. At first I thought the writers had just made Daria come to life, but then I looked up some of her stand up work and she just happens to be a lady with an incredibly deadpan sense of humour.

Miles Davis
LIFEâs photographer Robert W. Kelley was the man who captured Jazz legend Miles Davis at an intimate jazz gig on May 14th, 1958 in NY. Davis, being a mere 31 year old and not famous yet, was leading his band in an unnamed venue in the city, entertaining a small crowd.

Soul Capsule - Overcome/Lady Science (NYC sunrise)
Soul Capsule is the brainchild of Thomas Melchior (AKA Melchior Communications) and Baby Ford. Their latest release, Overcome/Lady Science, really is a phenomenal piece of minimal house. There's no disputing the perfect marks RA gave this single. Check it.Â

...favourite collection of zippos
Vietnam Zippos
âVietnam Zippos showcases the engravings made by U.S. soldiers on their lighters during the height of the conflict, from 1965 to 1973. In a real-life version of the psychedelic war portrayed in Francis Ford Coppolaâs Apocalypse Now, Sherry Buchanan tells the fascinating story of how the humble Zippo became a talisman and companion for American GIs during their tours of duty. Through a dazzling array of images, we see how Zippo lighters were used during the war, and we discover how they served as a canvas for both personal and political expression during the Age of Aquarius, engraved with etchings of peace signs and marijuana leaves and slogans steeped in all the rock lyrics, sound bites, combat slang, and antiwar mottos of the time.â
