I was in Turkey exactly three years ago now. Istiklal was a very different place in June of 2010. I've been thinking about it a lot over the last few days, and my thoughts continue to go out to those protesters.

I’ve been in Toronto for the last couple days, and I’ve seen a remarkable number of awesome acts. Ruth Moody, Lee Harvey Osmond, JP Hoe, Elisapie, Ben Caplan, Chic Gamine, Fred Penner…
(Yes. I just said Fred Penner. And he was fucking awesome.)
Plus, it’s snowed a bunch here today. Makes me feel a little more at home, being in the negative degrees celsius.
