This is a selective, multi-muse blog that takes place in scifi worlds. My characters, Gamma and Orion travel throughout the galaxy and visit many star systems for the sake of exploring and taking on odds-and-ends types of jobs. While I can be open to them visiting Earth, it is under the assumption that interstellar travel is a thing.

I'm also starting to have Orion work as a substitute teacher and often takes field trips aboard his spaceship.

Orion Borealis

Orion once lived in a different galaxy and spent his life as a teacher of literature. His ship was often the classroom as he would visit other star systems to learn and to educate. When the anomaly destroyed his home star system, Orion was pulled through a wormhole that spit him out in another galaxy entirely where he has been living for at least two years.

Still grieving the loss of everyone he knew and loved, Orion seeks to fill his life with joy and meaning again by surrounding himself with others. While Orion is a warm, caring person, he has to fight off nightmares about what happened and his feeling of despair at being so helpless to save anyone, which leads him to take on risky missions if it involves saving others. Orion longs for home and true companionship

Gamma Trestoo

Gamma has spent most of his life as a keeper of the books on a lush planet brimming with scholars and intellects from all across the galaxy. When he was called upon to relocate to a troubled planet to help rebuild its library, Gamma had no idea that it would nearly cost him his life.

The planet, having spent decades under tyrants, was not willing to give such cherished information a chance to spread hope and imagination amongst its people and so they attacked Gamma. Gamma did all he could to protect the books and begged for help from his home world, but all of his cries were left with, "This is for the greater good that you are here. You must rise to the challenge."

Meeting him is tricky, as he can be very approachable at times and yet also distrustful. He was forced to watch his library burn and was also left to die alone in the cold. The only person he trusts is Orion, a stranger who answered his pleas.

// Quick Munday post! I'm really grateful to everyone who interacts with my Simon. I know he's a bit different (being a mercreature and all) than what you know and I've also put him into the world of Subnautica, so it means a lot that you're willing to get to know him and his world!

That said, I have a huge fear of open water despite living next to a sea myself. The only times I like being on it is when on the ferry over to one of the islands or on a tall ship. Somehow tall ships make me forget my fear of the ocean. Anyway, this is from a few years ago when I took an evening sail on the ship Hawaiian Chieftain, a topsail ketch.

If I could I would put Simon aboard a tallship and have him sail across the dead zone with Calvin and Aubrey in tow and Abalis the Reaper to help guide him through.

"Can we stay in tonight?" — Morgase for Gamma

"Of course," Gamma replied with a light smile. "I wasn't wanting to go out anyway. They said that the rain is only going to increase. Nothing to be concerned about, I just would rather us not get soaked in it."

He tilted his head at Morgase. "Are you doing all right though?"

The idea of kicking a hunter through a wormhole made Landon snort a laugh as dark hues drank Orion in. He was lucky. Not only had he found someone to love him, but to love him despite himself. It was more than he could hope for really.

"I appreciate that. It's not just about keeping me safe though. As much as I wish it was that simple. It's about keeping you safe, and me fed....like I said, if I'm not careful, I could really hurt you," he muttered.

"That being said, I've been starving myself for awhile now. I really should go out tonight while we're still here, before we take off again, and feed. I promise.... I promise I won't be too late getting back," he swore.

"I also promise to cover my tracks."

There would have been nothing lovelier for Orion than to continue spending his time with Landon just like this. To hold his beloved close, to reassure him and to comfort him, it was something that Orion believed could go on forever. He would have loved to have fallen asleep like this.

"I know, but sometimes..." Orion gave a little snort of amusement as he pressed his nose into Landon's hair and gave him a loving kiss. "You're irresistible to me. And that's not the pheromones or anything talking, that's just me, being uh, human."

He resumed lightly brushing Landon's hair. "Do what you must, just, stay safe and remember, I love you. You'll always have me to come home to. These arms are shaped just for you. I might sleep though, I want to rest for our journey."

"Got it. Two sandwiches, and two bowls of noodles with butter, one without garlic," Mare said, getting up.

Getting to work in the kitchen, it wasn't long before Mare was coming out to check on Orion. He felt the emotions from the living room, but seeing him crying now, Mare sat next to him again, forgetting about the food.

"Hey…hey, what's…" He didn't finish, realizing maybe he didn't need to say anything or ask.

"C'mere." He pulled Orion in for a hug instead, rubbing his back again and letting some magic comfort seep through the touches.

He didn't even need to be coaxed. The moment Mare started to draw him into a hug, Orion was already collapsing against him. Orion already knew how much he needed to be around others, but at times like this it really struck him how lonely he was and the grief felt so isolating. As Orion sobbed he clutched at Mare's clothing, just needing that extra bit of reassurance that he was not all alone here.

No words came from Orion as he wept. There was nothing more that needed to be said. When at last his grief ebbed, Orion sank into Mare's arms. Crying as much as he had had thoroughly exhausted Orion and now his body was making it perfectly clear to him that he needed to rest.

"I'm sorry," Orion mumbled as he tried to draw away so he could lay down on the couch. "I, I promise I'll be okay. I keep bothering you with this... you do so much for me and all I do is get caught up in my past. I promise, there is a future... a fun one... with..."

"Huh? No....no I didn't say that. Just.....that maybe we know different things," he pointed out, following Orion to further parts of the ship. Anything to not be able to feel how his skin buzzed with the energy of the storm outside.

"A bed sounds good. Uh....as far as telling you about me, I dunno what all there is to say. I happen to think I'm kinda boring." He wasn't, but he didn't need this stranger to know the truth. He didn't need to spook him with all that really existed out there. It seemed he had more than enough to deal with.

"Ah, yeah that makes sense," Orion replied lightly, but then he smiled encouragingly at Landon. "Thanks to your help, I know we'll be okay. This ship has an emergency beacon so I know they'll find us."

He went to one of the control rooms but immediately backed up into Landon when he saw that the window was busted with a large tree through it and the wind was tearing through another broken window.

"Yeah yeah, we'll be okay," Orion murmured as he went hesitantly forward to find the button. "Trust me, I don't think you could be boring. Everyone has their own story to tell, their own unique lives."

He jumped as another tree came down and crushed the roof.

// Yesterday I created a verse where Simon receives an adaptation as a gift from the Sea Emperor juveniles and it allows him to be a merman while in the water and he can have legs once he's on land or an artificial surface. He doesn't have gills and can breathe normally under water.

Simon also faces off with some space pirates who try to use the planet as a hide out while also poaching some of the marine life, including a Reaper Leviathan. Simon is very, VERY protective of his home.

It does eventually lead to him being dragged off-world by some nare-do-wells who believe Simon to be stranded and in desperate need of rescuing. Despite their good intentions, all Simon wants to do is go home but before that happens, a nefarious team gets a hold of him and wants to know just how to turn humans into sea creatures and they start taking samples from him.

Simon is kept in a small pool with water that harms him more than it helps and because of all of his attempts to escape, his tail has a chain attached to it and he's not allowed to even leave the water.

"I love you too, but grief and healing.... They aren't linear. They don't just suddenly stop because you love someone else. More than one thing can be true at a time... You can absolutely love me, and still love those that you lost. You can mourn someplace for as long as you need to. It could even be the rest of your life..... And that's okay," the incubus promised, rubbing his lover's back in slow circles.

"I didn't expect you to just suddenly be okay and be over it," he swore.

"You do what you need to in order to heal, and I'll be here to help you through it every time," he promised.

"Are you sure it's okay?" Orion asked with a sniff. "They've tried to send me to therapy but it only drove me to wanting to hurt myself even more. They kept pulling up memories as a way to help, I think, but the pain only worsened because I wanted what I could never have again. They even put me in a group with others who are like me, stranded in this galaxy. But I only felt alone."

Orion hesitated to admit the number of times he had tried to end his own life. All of the times he volunteered for risky missions in the name of science had been for curiosity, but it had also been with the hope that maybe he wouldn't come back at all.

Orion began to sob suddenly and he tried to hide his face in his hands as he did so as the weight of his loss crashed upon him once more.

Landon stayed in Orion's arms, allowing the silence between them to speak to the volume of emotions that flowed between them. He knew Orion loved him, even if he worried he didn't deserve it, and he knew he'd do anything to protect his lover. To keep him safe.

"Thank you..... For your understanding. For your unwavering devotion despite the truth. I can't always promise to be perfect. In fact on not going to make you any promises other than the fact I love you, because I don't want to lie to you. Even by accident. I just can't..." He cleared his throat, burying his face in the crook of his lover's neck.

"If we ever go back, they're going to come looking for me. I can't imagine them giving up. Right now they probably think I'm hiding in hell. Believe me, I tried that, but it wasn't for me. I'm not....I'm not cut out for it."

I don't want perfect, I only want you," Orion replied as he sifted his fingers through Landon's hair. "I think, just because we are still living, imperfect beings, there will be moments that are hard, but we'll get through them."

Orion loved Landon being this close to him. Everything felt so easy when Landon was around, even during moments like this. Orion put his hand on the back of Landon's head and lightly ruffled his hair while keeping him close with his other hand gently on Landon's side.

"Well, yeah, I can't even imagine what that must be like. You can stay here, where it's beautiful and crazy and yet absolutely worth living for. And if they try to find you, I'll keep you safe. We'll stay safe together. We can always move on. Or you know, maybe we can kick them through a wormhole and they'll end up in another galaxy..."

"But you don't need to sleep," Orion mumbled as he made himself comfortable in Landon's arms. "I, I don't want you to get bored waiting for me to wake up. You can just hold me until I'm in a deep sleep and then go do stuff? I, I don't want you to miss--"

I'm going to create an rp sideblog for Simon from Iron Lung and have him in the world of Subnautica. Yes he's going to have a cuddlefish and his name will be Calvin Jr because obviously...

Simon sat down as soon as Orion asked, wrapping his arms around the man.

"Still don't know what it is you see in me, but I'm glad," he said, realxing a bit. "Thank you, again…for everything. For trying. For not giving up."

He remembered the loops. It felt like since getting out of the timeloop, every one had come back to his memories. It made him appreciate Orion more. Want to protect him more.

Even from simple things he couldn't, like illnesses.

A sigh left Orion as he turned to snuggle against Simon. "Of course, Simon. Saving you was something I had to do. At first it was because I had lost everything and I had wished for one moment that I could have saved someone. But with each loop, I started to get to know you through our talks, or even the times when all I could do was just listen."

Orion sighed and then winced, recalling all the times he had watched Simon die. "You deserved a second chance, Simon. What happened to you was unfair. I know you may not believe it, but there's a lot of good in you. You care. You are kind, just, never really allowed to express it."

Pain flared in his chest and then in his head, causing him to wince again. "Just keep fighting for the life you have always wanted, Simon. Find a dream... hold onto it... and chase it. You'll get there, I know you will."

Simon hesitated before coming further into the room. "You just seem tired…and a bit pale," he admitted, worry still evident on his face. "I just wanna help…any way I can."

The convict was still recuperating himself, but things for him were nowhere near as bad as they were for his savior. He owed Orion his everything and wanted to make it up to him, aid him and make sure he was safe, healthy.

"You're already doing a lot for me," said Orion with a soft smile as he sank back onto his bed. "But... if you want to help, did you want to just be around me for a little while?"

Orion moved over on his bed, hoping that Simon might want to join him there. Being near him brought a sense of comfort that was hard for others, even the scientists that Orion had helped, to understand.

"I remember when we couldn't touch," said Orion in a weak voice. "The times we could touch was just cruel, as though the universe itself was mocking both of us. You being here though, you're proof that life really is worth fighting for, no matter what."

He shut his eyes as he lay there, hoping that his illness wouldn't force a hospital stay again.

Gamma! Do you have a favorite archival item out of the ones you have so far?

"Just the trio of novels that I managed to save from my burning library," Gamma muttered. "I've gained many books since then, but I just keep them in a private collection with Orion now. This way they're safe. He's got books in there from his galaxy too. That makes them among the most precious items between two galaxies, well, what's left of one. And that's why they're so special."
