I Hate the Ocean!

RP blog for Iron Lung and Simon the Convict, but Simon's gotten off of the blood planet and is now in the world of Subnautica! 25+ rper

// Welcome to Subnautica! Simon has escaped the blood moon and has found himself stuck on the planet 4546b and is doing his best to survive on a planet composed almost entirely of water. And while there's a small collection of islands in which Simon does have a base, he generally lives in the ocean, aided by technology created by Alterra that was left behind years ago.

The ocean sucks.

There's always creatures that want to either eat Simon or bite him.

The ocean is full of terrifying leviathans and an even scarier depth that Simon has yet to fully explore.

Come join him on his adventures and meet his only true, faithful companion, a cuddlefish by the name of Calvin Jr.!

The rules are pretty simple...

This is both an ask blog as well as a normal rp blog where you can have rp threads.

Be courteous with the asks. While I am not a minor, inappropriate asks will simply be ignored.

As far as magic anons go, I don't do them. I don't mind explaining why, but please respect this.

Don't hurt Calvin Jr. His HP is higher than that of all the leviathans so just leave him alone. Plus Simon will be sad.

This rp is based off of Let's Play Subnautica with Markiplier, which if you haven't seen it I HIGHLY recommend it because it's a lot of fun and unexpectedly endearing.

"Because you like it? What is this... a game? Am I just in another experiment?"

Simon rubbed his eyes and laughed weakly as though wishing he could cry. "There's always voices in my head. There are two voices I wish I could hear... and then my own."

He paused to look out the window as both Calvin and Aubrey stayed close by as though sensing their human-father's distress. Calvin put a tentacle against the window and chirped sadly.

"I wish I could believe that. My past does make up a part of who I am today there's no getting around that. I was raised to be a killer. When I'm having to fight for my life down there that, that instinct takes over."

Simon shook his head, continuing to swim further out towards the ecological dead zone.

"The voices are right. You can't change who you are no matter what. Once a butcher, always a butcher."

// I must apologize! When I got home today from my outing (yay for a day off) I should have worked on the asks as well as my drafts (for all three blogs not just this one) but instead I played Subnautica!

Got visited by Ghostie again and finally met the Sea Treaders! Two of them started fighting as I was going after a gem and I got kicked around.

Might have also gotten a bit pissy at a crabsquid and rammed it repeatedly with the sea moth for being an asshole.

Last night I built a base down at one of the entrances to the Lost River and I now have all five cuddlefish! Only two swim around my base because two are difficult enough to manage on their own. Simon is my first cuddlefish with Aubrey being the second. And yes, most of the stuff in my Subnautica playthrough are Age of Sail and scifi-based.

"I didn't want to! I didn't even kill those people aboard the station that wasn't my fault! I was trying to stop it!"

Simon threw his hands in rage, wishing that there was something in them to try and chase away these voices. "Why are you doing this to me, specifically just me? Why aren't you going after anyone else in Eden? They're just as guilty as me with even more blood on their hands! Why me... why just me?"

"Simon, I don't think this is safe…" — Connor

"What other choice do I have?"

Simon swam around, agitated by what the voices were continuously saying to him. "I know they're baiting me... I know they want me out there... but what choice do I have?"

He shook his head and looked into Connor's eyes from outside the seamoth. Simon touched the glass and sighed. "Don't come with me. This could very well be a one-way trip."

"Simon.... Simon, dude snap out of it! Where the hell are we going?" — Paultin

"Just... just go..." was all Simon could muster as he parked his seamoth on the edge of the cliff.

It dropped into pure nothingness down below and everything ahead was darkness. At least Paultin was in his own seamoth. At least he didn't have those condemning voices, drawing him out here. Maybe Paultin would survive.

"Just... don't follow me. Just go."

He stared out into the darkness, hearing the hiss again that kept drawing him into it. If Simon could cry, he would have. With a flick of his tail, Simon ventured away from the light.

"We'll be home in about an hour…I'm sure Calvin will love to see you" — Connor for Simon

"That's good," Simon replied, hardly able to raise his voice in excitement. So much had been done to him that he just didn't know if he'd ever feel safe again.

Or deserve to feel safe again...

Why should you live when you murdered so many people??

"It... it just happened this way," Simon replied, his voice weakening as he swam aimlessly around the wreck of the Aurora. "It was a long time ago... I didn't ask to be brought here it just happened. Why do you blame me for wanting to live?"

Wow other anon, that's not very nice. We should practice saying nice things instead of things that aren't nice. Here, I'll try:

Simon, you have very pretty eyes and I'm glad the blood ocean got to see them but now it's our turn to see them. Thank you for making it out!

"The voices from the void don't bother me all the time," Simon replied, not liking to admit that they did actually get to him at times. "Sometimes they're right though. I mean, do I even have the right to exist as I am? I'm getting to live an actually good life out here. I'm part of the ecosystem and I have my fish kids, Calvin and Aubrey."

He let out another sigh and ran his fingers over his face. "Ah yeah, thanks. I'm glad that I was able to make it out as well. The thought of going deeper here still scares me because of what happened."

"Sure! Something a little different than what I'm used to would be great! Although I should probably only take some in moderation given the delicate balance that I've been living in here. Thank you!"

Curious what I'm

The pause caught Simon off guard. He waited a moment, then felt a little awkward as he let the pause continue in hopes of it being finished.

"Uh sorry, what now?"

"I mean I guess there's nothing stopping you," Simon replied, scooting a little on the bit of land that he was resting on.

"But there's plenty more to see in the ocean than just me. It's a horrifying, but incredible place."

"...do you know whereabouts? What can you see on the island and what do you see on the ocean, if anything?"

This was puzzling to Simon and he half-wondered if this person was on one of the islands he had a base on. It was not as though he spent a lot of time on either island.

[Then Simon spoke the next part. Life? In a positive light? Usually when a Simon spoke about finding something else down there it was a bad thing.]

"That sounds incredible. How did you get to a place like that?"

[Stars at night. Couldn't be their branch of the muktiverse then. A gateway left open by someone else? Perhaps.]

[Would it be bad if he was in the wrong place?]

"I have a few more questions aswell if you wouldn't mind."

"An Ava? There's more than one of you?" Simon chuckled at that last bit. A part of him still resented her for not telling him about what he was getting involved in when sent down in the blood ocean. But that was a few years ago now.

"I don't know. After I was dragged down to the bottom of that blood ocean things get really fuzzy. Some kind of portal opened and there was this shimmering green light. I thought it was an illusion at first, then I went through it and I was here in this world."

Simon nodded. "Yeah it's not as though you can imprison me again. What can I help you with?"

"Hey.... You hungry?" Paultin questioned.

"Made us some food. Mostly vegetables I found around the island. I already tried some of all of it though. It's safe."

"Sure! It's been a lot of work trying to get that new section added onto the base. I want the other side of the island to have better access to the water even with that reaper down below."

Simon shivered as he moved closer to Paultin out of need for comfort. "I think most of the stuff on these islands are safe. The little robotic bastards on the other hand..."

He frowned and lifted Paultin's arm, giving him an inspection, "You didn't run into any, did you?"
