The sound of the distant waves off the beach reach them even through the trees surrounding the property. Roy leans back on his hands and takes a deep breath, head tilted back so he can get a good lungful of humid, salty sea air. “So you getting in, or what?”

They were only buckets of popcorn away from this being a real show. “Um it’s called a shirt Roy,” Jamie scoffed, rolling his eyes as he spun round.

Summer is a sweaty, dirty time, perfect for play. Things like stakes and consequences always feel a bit less important in the summer. It feels like you can get away with being more daring, more free. And for footballers and their coaches, it's also a rare break from the grueling schedule of the football season. This makes it a magical time, ripe for adventures and possibilities. But because of the structure of the show, we've actually never seen Roy and Jamie in the summer. How do you think they'd spend it? 👀 Introducing our next challenge: 🌅☀️🏖️ SUMMER OF 69 🏖️☀️🌅

The ☀️ Summer of 69 ☀️ challenge is for Roy/Jamie fanworks of all types. Absolutely anything is welcome, so long as your work focuses on summer, takes place in the summer, or has at least a meaningful portion set in the summer.

As usual, all content ratings are welcome. For written works, word count may run anywhere between 1k-20k words.

This will be a non-competitive challenge, and not anonymous. As we have in the past, we'll be running a side competition and offering a prize to the server member who leaves the most thoughtful, substantive comments on challenge works.

Works are due to our AO3 collection on the first day of summer --June 21, 2024. We will post ~2 a day until they're all live!
