The highlight of my year so far (professionally) was helping these 2 young dudes find their voice & fearlessly speak on Police Brutality in front of their school. With a cop sitting in the audience. You know why it was rewarding? Because they took something only people like us can understand & made it tangible to people who didn't care. Warning: It's a long one. The picture you are looking at is around 365 days old. On Instagram it's all smiles & happiness. Real life? There have been days where I have been the most inconsiderate man & hurt her. There are days where I get all of her anger dumped on me in a few sentences & I feel like I'm done. This thing has nearly ended a few times (mostly my fault tbh). But this is the only woman who could be physically present when my Grandfather died. The one who knows all my poems so well she doesn't have to come to my shows. The one who I share the most jokes & smiles with. We have fought to make this thing work & right now it is as good as it looks in this picture. Probably better to be honest. Here's to our first trip around the sun together babe. And hopefully to many more. End rant.
