What is worse; to be obscene and authentic, or to be palatable enough to preserve one's place in society? I truly don't know. My first instinct is to say "of course it is always better to be authentic" but the consequences that come with authenticity can be heavy. I feel like the Creature, I feel like a monster all the time. I fear one day those around me will discover the stitches and my obscenity, and I will be cast aside. Perhaps this is for the best.
