“I just want the satisfaction of being able to figure it out.” Anthony replied knowing that he was a bit stubborn that way. He liked being able to solve little puzzles and things on his own. Anthony shook his head. “I have not, and you are right eating actual food first might be smarter.”

She had nodded at him. “That makes sense! I like to figure things out myself too.” Sofia had told him, smiling. “If you want to I could ask my aunt, she always makes the caramel apples and she’s good at these things.” Sofia had offered. “We could get actual food now and sweets later?” She had asked in case he had wanted to join her.

Josh turned his head when he heard someone talking to him, smiling a little when he saw who it was, “Hey! It’s good to see you again” he said nicely before laughing at her comment. “Oh come on- you can’t come all the way here and then not go through the haunted house, it’s the best part! I’ll go with you, does that make it better?” he offered, “I’m pretty sure I’m taller than any monster they could possibly have in there and I’m a marine, so I think as far as people to take into a haunted house with you go, I think I’m your safest bet”

She had smiled back at the guy she had met before. “Hey! It’s good to see you again too! How have you been?” Sofia had asked curiously. “I’m a scared chicken, I know. But it really freaks me out.” Sofia had laughed, knowing she had sounded ridiculous. She was grown up and had been afraid of a haunted house. “That does make it much better. “ She had agreed with him, chuckling. He really had been one of the tallest men she had ever met and would have been a great bodyguard. “I’ve heard the monsters are students. I bet they would be more scared of you than the other way around.” She had teased him. Sofia had not been surprised to hear he had been a marine. He had looked like one too. “I’m not surprised. You have the marine vibe.” She had admitted. “You are my only bet too but I’ll gladly take it.”

While she did have a passion for cooking and baking things herself, she could also enjoy food at other places. Miranda was not very picky either and never really managed to stick to a diet for more than a couple of hours, if she was being honest. She just loved her sweets too much. Which, thankfully for her, didn’t really show. “Fried sounds good to me. The pickles have been recommended to me before. You should try them!” She chuckled, nodding her head. “Me? I mean.. I should be but is there even a way to be on a diet during Halloween?”. Mira asked curiously. “Oh I love them too. I’ll definitely get one later.” 

Sofia had not been a great cook or baker. She had been able to make meals that had required little effort but she hadn’t been patient enough for fancy ones. She had admired people who had this talent but for her it had to be quick and tasty. She had been lucky with her physiques because she had been ordering take outs most days and often they had been unhealthy choices like pizza, burger and others. “Fried pickles? Sounds interesting to me. Let’s get them now!” She had suggested, smiling. “No there is never one for me. I don’t like diets. Why should you be on one? You don’t look like you need it.” Sofia had told her. “You should! We can get it together.”

“I am sure I could look it up somewhere, but I am always too stubborn and just want to figure it out on my own.” Anthony replied with a small shrug. He liked being able to figure things out on his own but sometimes he just had to give up and move on. “I guess that is one way of solving the problem though.” 

“That’s a good way to go about things. I google a lot but sometimes it’s not true what you find on the internet either.” She had agreed with him. “It is! There are always more ways. You just need to find the best for yourself.” Sofia had recommended, smiling. “Have you been eating yet? I’m going to get Chinese food now and a candy apple later.”

“I would love to know the trick behind caramel apples honestly. Because whenever I make them at home they never turn out as well as the ones I buy.” Anthony mused to the person standing next to him. He was looking at the display trying to decide what candy option he wanted as they had a couple of different options.

Sofia had been to a lot bigger festivals before but she had not been complaining about this one. It had at least been more busy then the bar she had visited before and she had always liked to meet new people. It had been a nice opportunity for her. “I wish I knew. I can cook basics but my kitchen looks like a mess every time I try to bake. “ She had chuckled. “I usually buy them too and remove the package to make them look selfmade.”

“Usually I’m a lot better with Halloween costumes but I’ve spent my whole week unpacking and getting settled in so I didn’t have the time to go all out” he shrugged, looking back at her. “I do have a band, yeah- unfortunately we’re not playing here but maybe some day we will” he smiled, “I don’t think I’d be even remotely qualified to go for that type of position”

“I’ve had far less reason to not get a better costume than this. I have just been busy at work as usually.” She had admitted to him, chuckling. “You just moved here then? Why Ashton?” Sofia had asked curiously. “I’m new here too.” She had told him. “Please let me know if you do, I would love to see it. I love live music.” She had always loved to go to concerts and bars with a live band. “We can’t all be doctors. “

Mira was not sure if it was really such a great idea to join the event at first, but she actually started to enjoy it, despite still feeling a little bit awkward in the crowds. She nodded her head at the other’s words. “It does! No not yet, I just wanted to see all the options first before I decide what to get.” Miranda chuckled. “Did you try anything yet?” 

Sofia had always loved food and drinks and she had always enjoyed dressing up. This event had been perfect for her. It had been smaller than the ones she had known back home but it didn’t mean she had not been enjoying it. “That’s a wise decision. I think I’ll start with something fried. “ She had told the girl, smiling. “I hope you’re not on a diet?” Sofia had asked because most girls she had known were. “I’ve only tried the caramel apples because they are my favorites.”

Sofia had been enjoying the festival so far. She had just reached the haunted house everyone had been talking about for a while but she hadn’t entered it yet. She had been a bit afraid of the dark even if she wouldn’t admit that. She had thought it had been safer to admire it from the outside. Sofia had noticed the tall guy she had seen before and had sent him a smile. “Hi! I bet you are braver than me. I’ve been looking at this for ten minutes and still don’t dare to go inside.” She had chuckled, feeling stupid.

Miranda was a little bit nervous; not necessarily because of her costume. She was still not the most comfortable person in a crowd and events like this one tended to trigger her anxiety. However, she really needed to get back on track at some point and this was a great opportunity to start with it. She strolled across the market place, taking a look at all the things offered before she noticed someone approaching. Giving them a friendly smile. “They really put a lot of effort into this event. I hope people appreciate and enjoy it as much as they should.” 

Sofia had loved all holidays and she had been excited for the festival. She had heard it was great even if Ashton had been a small town. It had been the perfect reason to take a break from work. She had just entered the place and had seen the girl. “It does look like they did! I already like it!” She had told her honestly. “Did you try the food yet?” Sofia had asked curiously, smiling.

“I know just putting on scrubs and calling it a costume is a really lame idea for Halloween- but in my defense I think I can pull it off pretty well” he said, doing a little turn in his costume. “I should quit my band and go to medical school- this is actually really comfortable” he laughed, looking back over at the other person. “And you look great! I love your costume” he beamed. Was Andy a little bit drunk already? Maybe. And he was always friendlier- if possible- with a few drinks in him.

Sofia had been exciting about the festival. She had always loved Halloween and every other holiday. “I wouldn’t say that! It looks good! We can’t all have the most original ideas.” She had told him honestly, smiling. “You have a band? Are you going to play at the festival?” Sofia had asked curiously. “The clothes shouldn’t be the reason to become a doctor but if you’re interested in the job you should do it. They keep saying there is not enough medical staff out there.”

Rhea had decided to go out to enjoy a glass of something after having spent all day in front of her laptop. She needed some fresh air, and quite frankly some human interaction. She had ordered a glass of white, letting her eyes wander over to the person next to her before cracking her lips into a smile. “Oh, I wouldn’t know. I just came back from a year in Europe. This place wasn’t even here a year ago.”

Sofia had been disappointed in the bar. She had been used to busier places but she hadn’t been surprised either because it was a small town. “I’m new here myself and have to get used to the small twon flair.” She had chuckled before she had thanked the barkeeper for her drink and had taken a gulp. “What part of Europe? I love to travel.” She had admitted, smiling. “It doesn’t seem like it will make it another year if it’s always like this.”

Ryan wanted to spend a night out, and sitting at his own bar didn’t sound like a fun night since he knew he’d just end up working, so he went out to a different bar in the local area. Turning his head to look at the girl next to him as he took a sip of his water, he shrugged, “Honestly, I don’t go out to bars that aren’t my own much, so I have no idea. But mine is usually busier than this”

She had been here for a couple of minutes only and had been hoping more people were going to come to the bar. It had been too empty for her taste. Sofia had been used to busy places and she hadn’t expected this to be like Vegas but she had been hoping for a bit more than that. “You own bars?” She had asked the man who had just responded to her, smiling at him. “Which one is it? I’m new here and always thankful for tips on where to go.”

“Oh, not problem. Go ahead. I just need a small spot for my tea. I didn’t realize how busy this place got. Must be the afternoon rush hour,” she gave a smile as she pointed to the seat. “I promise I won’t bother you if you’re too busy with anything. I’ll try to keep quiet, but I can’t make any promises.”

She had offered a small smile when she had taken the seat. “I know. If I had known I would have come later. But now I’m already here.” Sofia had explained while she had been waiting for her order. “Not at all, I’m just taking a break from work myself and would be thankful for a distraction.” She had told her honestly. “I’m Sofia”.

 Diana had decided to go out after work that day. she was avoiding Dieter at the moment, because of the text she’d recently received and not responded to yet. She took a sip of her gin and tonic, looking over at the voice as they spoke, offering the other a slight smile before she let her eyes wander around the room. “I don’t come here too often myself, but seeing it is a weekday, I’d assume so. Besides people in this town is being a bit careful these days,” She shrugged at her. 

She had been at this bar to take a break from work but she had expected a little bit more entertainment from it. Sofia hadn’t been surprised it had been less busy than the places in Vegas but she had at least expected a little bit more than this. She had turned her head to the other woman. “I’ll give it a second chance on the weekend then. You mean because of the missing kids? “ She had asked because she had heard of it before. “I’m glad I’m not a teen anymore.” Sofia had admitted because at least she didn’t have to be afraid to go next.

Josh thanked her quietly as he continued to work on his car, putting the wrench down when he was done and wiping his hands off on a rag. “Oh yeah?” he asked, looking back at her, “Which one?”

She had watched him finishing the job on his car and cleaning his hands. “Yes. He sent me the location and it must be here somwhere.” Sofia had told him before she had showed him her phone with the map. “Mr. Callaghan. but I can’t find his name on any of the doors. Do you know him?”
